Fighting EX Layer patch incoming to fix bugs on certain characters, planned for next week
Hot off the release of Fighting EX Layer, ARIKA has already announced the first patch for the game. The patch — which comes out sometime next week — is set to fix some bugs with a few characters. Affected by the patch are the characters Sanane, Kairi, and Hayate. Now, the patch isn’t to nerf or buff these characters, rather the ARIKA statement seems to indicate that it’s to fix some actual bugs with some of their moves.
What exactly these bugs are is unknown as of the time of writing; so far, nothing about them seems to have been shared in the community yet. That said, whatever these bugs are, ARIKA’s statement indicates that they’ve already scheduled the patch, which may show that they already found them before release, but not before having sent the game in to Sony for certification.

Fighting EX Layer After-Guard Recording bug punishes things that it shouldn’t
Are you enjoying Fighting EX Layer? We are too! And as a member of the FGC, you probably like to test stuff out in training mode. FEXL has some robust recording features, but there’s one that — in its current form, at least — only works on paper. That’s the “After Guard” setting. Here’s a quick demonstration:
Currently, “After Guard” seems to act sooner then a human would be allowed to, bypassing block-stun and punishing things that wouldn’t normally be possible. Consider this a friendly PSA so that you don’t mistakenly assume something is unsafe that actually isn’t.

Ryu appears as a new powered-up boss in Street Fighter V’s Extra Battle mode as “A True Martial Artist”
A new Extra Battle boss that’s really a force to be reckoned with.
In addition to this week offering us the last piece of Ryu’s Arthur Crossover Costume (and the last chance to get the BGM to go with it) in Street Fighter V‘s Extra Battle mode, a new boss also has shown up: now it’s Ryu’s turn to smash your Fight Money stash as “A True Martial Artist” — or, as he’s labeled in-match, THE MASTER.

As an Extra Battle boss, it costs 1000 FM to fight him, and victory earns you an exclusive title. You have until July 1st to take on this challenge.
In the YouTube video below, cammyplayer shows that Shin Ryu doesn’t look too bad — until you see the compilation reel of their losses! Watch out for frame data shenanigans, incredible parrying craziness, special cancels into super, and… what? A new Critical Art?! Look for the Shin Shoryuken at 1:42.
