Best to act fast if you want to secure these controllers for your own Smash play.

When Nintendo revealed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — coming to Nintendo Switch on December 7, 2018 — they also revealed a new GameCube controller to presumably launch alongside. For those that stand by these classic controllers, they are now available to pre-order from online retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.

They’ll run you about $30 per controller, and expect to run into pre-order quantity limits. These are seemingly just like regular GameCube pads; they still require the controller adapter, so you’ll need one from the Wii U generation — or you can also pre-order a reissue of those too for approx. $20. The controller released for the Smash 4 generation — and of course, GameCube originals — are fairly tricky to come by now, so Smashers will want to grab these ASAP. Nintendo has a reputation for shorting the hardware/accessory side of their production, so these may become scarce sooner than you might expect.
