The SRK Rollback: Best of June 22-28, 2018

Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from June 22 to June 28, 2018!

Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:

Frame 1:
SFV AE Splash Art
New bug fixes and other changes added along with Cody today in Street Fighter V’s version 3.051 update

We got a lot of new stuff this week: Cody, lootboxes, even more costumes, and changes that might actually make Survival Mode playable — and some bug fixes too… and maybe even some balance changes that they neglected to mention once again.

Frame 2:
sf 30th anniversary 3rd strike screenshot 750x400
Update for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection coming June 28, details revealed

Wait, now both players in a lobby can select “ready” and actually play? What a novel idea! But in all seriousness, it looks like this patch does actually help improve the online experience for this collection significantly.

Frame 3:
soulcalibur vi hori rap ps4 01 crop 750x400
HORI SoulCalibur VI RAP.N for PlayStation 4 & Xbox One officially revealed, now available for pre-order from GameStop

That’s some straight-up sweet panel artwork, no question. And a nice follow-up to the Tekken 7 sticks!

Frame 4:

Get ready for the arrival of Fighting EX Layer with this launch trailer from ARIKA

It’s actually here! This strange, impossible game is really real, for reals. You can buy it on the PlayStation Store.

Frame 5:
blade_strangers_cover_art
Blade Strangers release date set for August 28th, can be pre-ordered via Amazon

Speaking of strange games we’re excited about: Blade Strangers — with its bizarre and wonderful crossover cast of fighters — finally has a release date!

Crow_Spaceboy, Assistant Editor:

Frame 1:
hakumen bbtag glitch
Funny Hakumen glitch in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle makes opponents fly into the sky

This glitch justifies the existence of BBTAG for me.

Frame 2:
koihimeenby choryo
Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai is coming on July 12th — a major update that rebalances the game, adds 2 characters

I think that this is a tough time for this game to come out, but I’m excited for it, all the same.

Frame 3:
Absolver-KeyArt
Absolver will be free to play for PlayStation Plus users in July

This game fell off my radar and I completely forgot to try it out! Time to rectify that.

Frame 4:
climaxofnight
Registration for Atlanta’s “Climax of Night” Soft Circle French Bread tournament now open, early bird prices last until 7/29/18

Go to this tournament if you love the work of SCFB. Which you should.

Frame 5:
wii fit trainer srkWii Fit Trainer’s “Sashimi Wiggle” lets her pull off epic dashes in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

It’s been a good week for hilarious glitches, hasn’t it?

Gran Torino and Muscular confirmed for My Hero One’s Justice

This weeks issue of Famitsu has revealed two new characters for My Hero One’s Justice. Joining the cast of Bandai Namco’s My Hero Academia-based arena fighter are Gran Torino and Muscular!

The elderly former homeroom teacher Gran Torino can use his quirk “Jet” to shoot of air from boosters on his feet. He can use this to fly around the battlefield and attack at high speed. The villain Muscular, on the other hand, lives up to his name with his “Muscle Augmentation” quirk that sees him able to dramatically augment his muscle fibers. In-game, this makes him something of the opposite of Gran Torino, focusing on his immense strength (instead of speed) to deal damaging blows.

Check out a scan of the issue (care of YonkouProd) below:

My Hero One’s Justice arrives on PlayStation 4 and Switch on August 23 in Japan, and for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC sometime in October for the West.

If you haven’t played through the whole story and don’t want the ending spoiled stop reading now and come back after you are done.
