Try out Punch Planet’s new character, Maxx, early at tonight’s Wednesday Night Fights in Oakland, CA

Are you in the Oakland, CA region, or have the means to get there in the next few hours? The Level Up Series will be hosting some casual setups for the in-development indie fighter Punch Planet. These setups will be the first opportunity the public will get to try out their soon to be released Brawlin’ Alien, Maxx:

The ESAOakland location is located in Jack London Square at 255 2nd St. Oakland, CA. Signups/Casuals start at 6PM PDT.

If you aren’t able to make it out to Wednesday Night Fights but have a flight to Evo 2018, don’t sweat: Sector K Games will be demoing Maxx there, too.

We reached out to Sector K Games and sadly were unable to confirm if Punch Planet will get any stream presence tonight — but don’t let that stop you from stopping by WNF’s variety stream, you never know what may show up!

The King of Fighters returns with a new mobile action-RPG from Netmarble, available in Japan

SNK has partnered with Netmarble to bring another mobile title to the King of Fighters universe.

The Seoul-based gaming mogul Netmarble, known for translating large franchises to the mobile world, has collaborated with SNK to bring The King of Fighters to smartphones. Their latest mobile initiative featured a pre-registration period that spanned two days, wherein players could gain access to in-game content and special pre-registration campaigns. Now, the game is fully available to Japanese audiences in a currently-exclusive release to both iOS and Android devices.

The King of Fighters: All Star is a mobile beat ‘em up with RPG elements. The game features characters from throughout the franchise’s lifetime, including Andy Bogard, Goro Daimon, and Mai Shiranui, among others. Netmarble has expressed a desire to stay true to the series, stating that the game holds “special moves, super special moves, and combos faithful to the original works.” Players must fight their way through multiple stages against new enemies, facing King of Fighters characters as bosses at these stages’ ends. With flashy gameplay, a simple control scheme, and its very own story mode, this mobile game could very well rival The King of Fighters: Destiny, a mobile RPG based on the King of Fighters universe.

The King of Fighters: All Star isn’t SNK’s only mobile title out there, either. The iOS and Google Play stores feature a plethora of the company’s games, from translations of the classic KoF ‘97 & ‘98 to Garou: Mark of the Wolves. With SNK’s initiative to bring their games into to new spheres, fans can hope for another thrilling experience in this latest mobile release.

Take the lead in Fighting EX Layer with these practical Sanane bread-and-butters

Sanane has emerged as a tricky powerhouse in Fighting EX Layer. Her ability to cross-up at virtually any point in the middle of her rekka, combined with her versatile grappler/zoner hybrid toolkit, makes her a huge threat — so long as you’re converting all your options into worthwhile damage.

If you’re not sure where to start with the Naginata user, though, then sadisticupid‘s latest tutorial should help you get started. These are excellent combos to jump right into FEXL with — once you get a feel for how her Rekkas and super cancels work, you can turn any correct guess into respectable damage.
