New Zealand player ncea shares advanced combos for Digimon Rumble Arena

Every now and then something comes in to the SRK tipline that makes me reel back in my chair. Never, in my lifetime, did I think I’d see a combo video for the PlayStation 1’s Digimon Rumble Arena — nor did I think I’d find it, well, fascinating.

Before PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was just a twinkle in Sony’s eyes, Bandai and Hudson Soft experimented with the idea of a combo-oriented platform fighter in the Digimon universe. When hit in Digimon Rumble Arena, your body flies in the direction it was already traveling. This means juggles either need to be kept simple of consistency’s sake, or the player must prepare to different, more complex juggles for specific situations — such as punishing.

All of this information is documented in ncea‘s comprehensive Digimon Player’s Guide, which gives context to the ideas on display in the above video. Lest you think these combos exist in a vacuum, there’s even a small scene brewing in New Zealand around this odd gem.

G’s early Street Fighter V concept art showcases his worldwide presidentiality

Capcom has released previously-unrevealed concept art for the game’s newest character: the President of the World.

Street Fighter V’s latest addition, G, is still as much of a mystery as he was before his release. With a story mode that doesn’t reveal much (other than a web-based “election” campaign) and a costume that uncannily resembles 3rd Strike’s Q, there is still a lot about the Prez that is left up to fan speculation. Street Fighter’s Twitter account recently uploaded a few panels of G’s early concept art from the Shadaloo C.R.I.: while they reveal a different set of costumes from his current design, there are no clues as to his past — or to his possible connection to Q.

While G’s arms are covered in rotating, golden tattoos that represent the seven continents, earlier designs plastered a globe over his entire body. With dark, blue skin, and lines of latitude and longitude running crossways, G truly looked like the President of the World. His second design depicts him with a smart monocle, while the third gives him long sleeves to cover his tattoos: possibly to give him a more normal, easily-palatable appearance for the masses.

While this art does nothing more than further reinforce his desire for worldwide presidentiality, other concept art released in the interim does hint at an organization of fighters much like Q. With a male and female model both donning Q-like masks and outfits, one has to wonder if Q — and maybe G — is part of something bigger than himself. That is Street Fighter’s new great mystery, and G’s introduction is just a piece of the puzzle.

Path of Exile – Delve Challenges Players to Journey Beneath the Surface

Grinding Gear is one of the hardest working bunch of developers that continually proves that quality content can be pushed out at a blistering pace. Path of Exile: Incursion launched earlier this summer, but not resting on their laurels, the team is expanding Path of Exile yet again with Delve, the game’s first infinite dungeon that will challenge even the hardiest of players.

STL1119 shows off the wall possibilities with Tekken 7’s Steve Fox

One of Tekken 7‘s most creative and dedicated combo makers, STL1119, is back to document the varied ways characters can cash out at the wall. Last week he covered the wall-carry master, Lee Chalon — today, we’re looking into counter-hit heavy Steve Fox.

Steve may lack some of Lee’s juggle distance, but he hits incredibly hard once he gets to the wall. Not only does Steve get great damage on a wide variety of character sizes, he also can end his combos in a odd situations — such as ending in Peakaboo Stance on wakeup, or putting himself in back-turned to force an instant low/throw/hopkick mixup.
