“Tokyo Tekken Masters”, a Tekken 7 Tekken World Tour event, streaming live
The Tekken World Tour returning back home to japan for the hotly contested Tokyo Tekken Masters tournament! In 2017, South Korea’s JDCR invaded TTM to score a victory — will Japan be able to defend their home turf in 2018? And will we see any new Japanese players earn a pro license in the process? Any Japanese player that finishes fourth or better this weekend will be issued a pro player license by the Japan eSports Union (JeSU). The licenses allow players to win money in this weekend’s tournament — no small prize, considering there’s $5000 on the line at TTM this year!
This two day event will be streaming 8/18 through 8/19, with match times starting at 11AM JST / 9PM CST on both days.

“The Unholy Trinity” shows off the many infinites in every version of the Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls
There are two fighting games based off of the Double Dragon side-scrolling beat ’em up games. One is simply titled Double Dragon, and it’s a reasonably competent fighter developed by Technōs Japan that still sees occasional tournament play at places like Mikado Arcade. Before Technōs developed that game, American company Leland Interactive Media developed the subject of today’s combo video — Double Dragon V.
Maybe it’s because it came first and was on demonstrably weaker systems than an arcade board, but Leland’s Double Dragon V was rough. Zool‘s most recent combo video explores the entertaining possibilities in each version of the game, and it’s a practically a checklist of every developer mistake one can make that will result in an infinite: throw loops, back-turned infinites, re-dizzies, and more… DDV is a clunky and hilarious relic of the ’90s Street Fighter clone surge.

But hey: at least it has Bones.
