Fortnite Battle Royale has been updated to Season 8 that brings the new Battle Pass on board. Players can earn over a hundred new rewards including the wicked Blackheart pirate skin (YARR!). Season 8 comes along with some big changes to the map including “a monstrous volcano” where “pirates, ninjas and a ship load of new fighters will tussle over treasure, battle with Pirate Cannons and uncover legendary loot”.

Veterans’ Group to Host Charity APEX Legends Tournament This Weekend
The Military & Veteran Gamers group, the largest veteran-affiliated gamer community in the US, will be hosting a charity APEX Legends tournament on Sunday, March 3rd beginning at 2:00 pm Pacific / 5:00 PM Eastern. The event is collecting funds to “send some care packages down range that are full of video game goodies”. Teams can play via XBox One, PC or PlayStation 4 and register for $5. Four teams will take home a share of the $425 prize pool. Viewers will be able to score some door prizes too.

EA, Amazon & Comcast Join Netmarble & Kakao by Submitting Bids to Purchase Nexon
According to VentureBeat.com, Electronic Arts, Comcast and Amazon are all in the running to purchase Nexon and all have submitted a bid for ownership. Other companies that are actively in the hunt for Nexon assets include Kakao and Netmarble as well as “a private equity fund MBK Partners”. According to Maeil Business, a Korean business journal, the bids are expected to top $9 billion to take over the 98.64% stake being sold by founder Kim Jung-ju.
Guild Wars 2 Game Director Reassures the Community About ANet’s Commitment
ArenaNet’s Mike Zadorojny has taken to the Guild Wars 2 forums to reassure the community about the company’s long term commitment to the game. Players have been concerned since ArenaNet underwent a restructuring initiative that led to the layoff of a significant number of employees. “The Guild Wars 2 team is still committed to bringing content and feature updates to the game.” MikeZ wrote. “Our long-term plans for the game…are still in the works.”
