Gato Ray Creates Moments with This Parry Exhibition for Ryo in The King of Fighters XIV

Ryu isn’t the only fighting game character with a parry! In The King of Fighters XIV, Ryo Sakazaki can parry attacks in a similar manner to how parries work in Street Fighter, by pressing towards and light kick (or B, in KoF parlance).

In a new video, Gato Ray showcases some of the things that Ryo can parry and punish. This includes special moves, EX moves, and even Desperation Moves, to create situations similar to the famous “Evo Moment #37” from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. It’s more than just a showcase though: the video below shows the timing on how to parry these moves, as well as some effective punishes for them.

Last Stock Legends Takes a Look at Filipino Champ in This New Mini-Documentary

He’s loud, he’s brash, and he’s also one of the best players on the planet. Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez–formerly of Panda Global, now signed on with Splyce–has been one of the most prominent players in Capcom’s fighting games. First making his mark by beating Daigo Umehara in Super Street Fighter IV at SoCal Regionals some years ago, FChamp went on to become one of the so-called “gods” of Ulimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, before transitioning into one of the top players for Street Fighter V.

In this new mini-documentary, Last Stock Legends takes a closer look at FChamp, his penchant from taking “energy” from the boos of the crowd, and using that to win. In addition to this, they also go over how he got his name 0f “Filipino Champ.” He also talks about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and his history with the game, and as with the game has declined, he began to feel that it’s part of his responsibility to help keep the scene alive, even if its just with his showmanship. Of course, he also talks about his win against Daigo Umehara at SoCal Regionals all those years back.

Twitch to Begin Selling Games, Streamers to Earn Revenue from Game Sales

For most of us Twitch is a platform to watch streams of tournament, events, and top players practicing or playing some matches. However, it seems that parent company Amazon has some bigger things in store for the service.

Amazon and Twitch have recently announced Twitch Games Commerce. This new service will allow players to buy select PC games off its website, starting this spring.

That’s not the most interesting thing about this announcement however. According to the announcement video, any time a game is purchased through a Twitch streamer’s broadcast, a portion of the money earned from the sale will go to the streamer. This then represents another way for players and streamers to earn money to support themselves and their competitive aspirations.

A number of publishers have already announced their support for this. However, we’ve yet to receive word on whether or not fighting game publishers such as Capcom and Arc System Works are on board.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Toy Line Mentioned at Hasbro’s Toy Fair 2017 Presentation

Here’s some interesting news for any Marvel vs. Capcom fans, who also happen to like toys and action figures: buried alongside all their announcements at their Toy Fair 2017 presentation, Hasbro made quick mention of an upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite toy line.

Initially tweeted by toy blog Preternia.com’s Twitter, the news was later picked up by a few other toy sites. Sadly, it seems that we’ll have to wait for any further details on the toy line, as it was only briefly mentioned in passing by Hasbro, with no pictures or concrete details provided. However, some sites are reporting that Target will be receiving an exclusive 2-pack from the set.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and Other Marvel Games Won’t Be Tied to the MCU, or Any Existing Storylines

With last December’s announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, more than a few fans have wondered is if Marvel’s existing cinematic universe would have any influence on it. A recent announcement by Marvel however confirms that this will not be the case.

Speaking to IGN at DICE 2017, Marvel Games Creative Director Bill Rosemann–regarding the teams behind the various Marvel games being made this year, including Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite–assured fans that, “We want to give [developers] freedom to tell their story and we want to make it an original story.” He continues by saying, “We want all of our games to tell an original, all-new story, we want [our development partners] to have passion, we want them to put their stamp on the games. It’s their game. We want it to be their vision.”

However, he does state that they do consider where audiences are coming from regarding their familiarity with the properties, indicating that they will stick closer to the versions that most fans are familiar with. That said, he posits that Marvel Games’ goal is to never force a game’s development timeline to match up with any upcoming movie, TV show, or comic book. Rosemann stated that they’re now “Going to try to do the very tricky balancing act of trying to make a game that adapts a movie and get it out in the same window as the movie.”

With this, it seems that Marvel is committed to making sure that each and every upcoming game in their stable, including Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, is allowed to shine by not limiting them to any other existing project or story that Marvel is working on.

Get Inside Fuudo’s Head with This New Documentary from IGN

Originally known for playing Sega’s Virtua Fighter series, Razer’s Keita “Fuudo” Ai has made a much bigger name for himself playing Street Fighter. Starting with his win at Evo 2011’s Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition tournament, Fuudo has become one of the biggest names in competitive Street Fighter.

In a new short web documentary titled “The Life of a Street Fighter Pro,” IGN takes a look behind the scenes at Fuudo’s daily life. The video starts with his work doing streaming show Game Ningen Gakuen for Dengeki. He reflects on how things have come full circle, since he originally worked at a part time job for them. After that, it goes on to showcase bits of his life, including the places and game centers he used to visit growing up, as well as the games he would play in them, ranging from Gunslinger Stratos, and of course Street Fighter IV. The latter allows him to segue into how it led to him competing at Evo, and eventually being sponsored by Razer.

The rest of the video focuses on Fuudo’s approach and philosophy on getting better at games. He also goes on about how he feels that players can get better if they play the games with other people.

“Evo is Marvel” — Angelic Talks about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Winning the Evo 2017 Player’s Choice

One of the biggest driving forces behind community’s push to get Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 back onto the Evo main stage–via the Player’s Choice vote–was none other than BROKENTIER’s Armando “Angelic” Mejia. Aside from helping to rally the community together, Angelic also helped by setting up a fundraiser at his own tournament, Undefeated, to help raise money for the drive.

PVP Live’s Chris Bahn recently got the chance to talk to Angelic, and discuss the significance of UMvC3 returning to Evo–as well as the series in general’s importance to him.

Angelic states that it is the end of a chapter in his life: having started playing the game a few days before launch (via a broken street date) and continuing to play it until now. More importantly, he cites how it’s helped bring the community together, as they all worked hard to get the game into Evo for one last time.

Aside from this, he also goes on about the series’ history and importance to Evo, having been a part of the tournament since its inception, even before he joined. He mentions how its easy to feel the “full weight” of the series’ history whenever he’s on stage. He concludes by saying that he truly believes that Evo wouldn’t be the same without the series: “Evo is Marvel,” he states.

In addition to this, he’s also gets a chance to talk about the Pokkén Tournament community and how he never held any ill will against them, as well as his own tournament Undefeated and what inspired him to become a tournament organizer.

You can read about all this and more in the full interview on PVP Live.
