HORI Show Off Prototypes for A New Fighting Edge and Colored RAP 4 Kai’s At E3

Game developers and publishers aren’t the only companies who attend E3. Peripheral makers, such as HORI, were also at the event, showing off some new stuff.

At their booth, HORI had a couple of prototypes of some upcoming arcade sticks for the PlayStation 4. First up were a pair of colored Real Arcade Pro 4 Kais. These were shown in blue and red and had a textured metallic finish and came with matching colored Hayabusa buttons.

More exciting, though, is a new iteration of their vaunted Fighting Edge arcade stick. This new version, surprisingly enough, loses the haptic touch area of the previous model–now replaced with a physical start button. It also gains a new brushed metal top panel and new LED lit frosted Hayabusa buttons. Additionally, it features a 3 row button layout similar to the custom layout that HORI player Naoto “Sakonoko” Sako has been using at tournaments.

Eliza Possibly Coming to Tekken 7 Fated Retribution

With Tekken 7’s Fated Retribution update, the game gains a couple of new characters–returning character Nina Williams and guest character Akuma from Street Fighter. However, it’s likely that the cast will continue to expand in the coming months leading up to the game’s console release.

In a video shown during the Tekken 7 Fated Retribution X CR Tekken 2 Toshin Ver. Press Conference, we get to catch a glimpse of one another possible new character, Eliza, the vampire introduced in Tekken Revolution.

Eliza can be briefly glimpsed near the start of the press conference, at around 1 minute 45 seconds into the video below from Avoiding the Puddle’s Flying Wonkey.

Wonkey also later provided screen caps when queried about this on Twitter (including another shot from a later segment in the above video).

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Eliza is coming to Tekken 7, as the event itself was talking about the CR Tekken 2 Toshin Version–a pachinko game–in addition to Tekken 7. That said, the footage of her seems new, not something from her original trailer for Tekken Revolution.

We’re likely bound to learn more on whether or not Eliza, or any other characters are coming to Tekken 7 in the coming months.

King of Fighters XIV E3 Trailer Shows Off Modes and Features

Atlus USA just dropped a new “E3 trailer” for The King of Fighters XIV. The trailer highlights the many modes in the game, such as Story Mode, Versus, Time Attack and more, while also giving a nod to the 50 character cast.

While these are mostly features that those following the game already know, the trailer is likely aimed more at those who may be less familiar with the title.

Additionally, the trailer gives a glimpse at penultimate boss, Antonov–the new organizer of the King of Fighters tournament in the story.

Romance Takes On AS|Reynald, Producer Oda Gets His Hands Dirty in This King of Fighters XIV Footage from Wednesday Night Fights

SNK and Level|Up Live brought the King of Fighters XIV to Wednesday Night Fights this week. This gave the Southern California community a chance to get their hands on the latest public build of the game.

For those who missed it, Gato Ray has shared some recordings from the stream. These include an exhibition set between Evo champion Reynald Tacsuan from Arcade Shock and Ramon “Romance” Navarrete.

In addition to these, KOF XIV producer Yasuyuki Oda also took the time to go up against both Romance and Reynald. Can the man behind the game beat some of the series’ brightest stars, or does behind the scenes knowledge not exactly translate into competitive success? Find out in the videos below.

Wonder Woman Confirmed for Injustice 2

DC Comics is currently celebrating the 75th anniversary of Wonder Woman. As part of this, they recently made an announcement regarding their plans to commemorate this iconic hero. While the announcement is concerned more about things like her new logo, or her upcoming movie, one of the bullet points listed is related to NetherRealm’s Injustice 2.

While it’s likely not a surprise to anyone, considering that she’s one of DC’s biggest heroes, Wonder Woman has been confirmed as a returning character in Injustice 2. The announcement itself states that she will be a “major player” in the game, so we can expect her to take part in the game’s story as well.

Injustice 2 launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2017.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Lives with This Online Highlight Video feat. Romneto, VDO, Josh360, Khaos, Wolverine Master and More

Despite being over a decade and a half old at this point, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 still has a dedicated scene that plays the game both on and offline.

For the latter, BrettH has compiled the following online highlight video featuring matches from some of the best Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 players during the height of the game’s activity on Xbox Live in 2010. This includes players such as Romneto, VDO, Josh 360, WorldMatchue, Khaos, Stepsz, Wolverine-Master, Taiji, Skitz, Dereklearnslow and more.

The video itself features many noteworthy things, including some rare mid-tier characters doing high damage resets and combos against the top tiers including an 81% combo by Iceman against Juggernaut at match start, an unbelievable Jin and Hulk double tag out unblockable combo, a deadly Ruby Heart with Doom lockdown chip damage sequence, an amazing Dhalsim 90% sequence that kills Magneto and a legendary solo Dr. Doom comeback against a nearly full life Magneto, Storm, Psylocke team in an XBL Tournament.

Check Out Some More Iron-Fisted Tekken 7 Gameplay from E3

Earlier this week, thanks to E3, we learned that Tekken 7 will be coming to consoles and PC in early 2017. Aside from this, however, the game’s appearance at E3 has allowed numerous outlets to attain more footage of the game’s latest, updated version (called Fated Retribution in arcades) in action.

Gematsu has uploaded a bunch of new gameplay videos onto their YouTube channel. Aside from showing off the game’s updated look, a couple of these also demonstrate more of Street Fighter guest character Akuma and the unique systems and mechanics he brings to the game.

Tekken 7 is coming to PlayStation 4, XBox One, and PC in early 2017.

Ed Boon Talks Injustice 2, Playing Ranked Online Without Gear, Microtransactions, and More

As we previously reported, Injustice 2 will have a mode that will allow for a level playing field in a tournament setting. However, it seems that the team at NetherRealm may be considering extending this to online play.

When asked about the tournament mode by IGN during their E3 stream, NRS’s Ed Boon mentioned that they are also considering adding both an option for customized, leveled up characters as well as base-level, tournament standard characters in online ranked play.

In addition to this, Ed Boon was also asked about whether the gear system would involve microtransactions. While he didn’t mention anything concrete, he did state that they still have to decide on a lot of things in the game, and mentioned that they are looking into adding a way for people who may not want to spend time leveling their characters to get gear.

AS|Reynald Takes On Mr. KOF in this King of Fighters XIV Footage from E3

As you may know, SNK and Atlus have brought The King of Fighters XIV to this year’s E3. As part of this, XSplit and Devolver Digital hosted the game on their indie game stream at the event.

In the video below, none other than former Evolution 2013 KOFXIII champion AS|Reynald takes on Mr. KOF in some exhibition matches. Along the way, XSplit’s Kevin “BurnoutFighter” Kim talks to commentators Abe and Will from Atlus about the new game, discussing things such as the game’s graphical style, pace, how players from other games can come into King of Fighters XIV, and more.

Street Fighter V Alternate Stage Footage Surfaces from E3

Some time ago, we reported on early shots of what seemed to be alternate stages in Street Fighter V’s upcoming update. Now, we have some actual footage of those stages.

BornFree was at E3 where they were able to capture some footage of these stages in action. The biggest thing we can take away from these videos is the fact that we can clearly see that these alternate stages are selectable from the select screen. Prior to this, the only place where you could see these was in certain segments of the game’s story modes.
