Recent Ultra Street Fighter IV Patch Expands Decapre’s Horizons

If you’re a Decapre player like me, then you’re probably pretty excited about most of her changes in Ultra Street Fighter IV’s ver.1.04 update. We’ve already seen how the changed input priority on her Ultra 2 motions gives her more combo possibilities, and now William Ho has shared a video showing what else she can do thanks to the recent adjustments.

Aside from new avenues into one of her most powerful attacks, the changes also allow her to combo into her EX slide out of crouching strong. This, and the other combos shown in the short video, could end up being important tools for her in the long run.

AcidGlow and Sajam Show How to Unleash Riptor’s Primal Rage in Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct’s Riptor is finally available for download in Microsoft’s Xbox One reboot and, while she retains some of her specials from the original games, Iron Galaxy have given her a few unique mobility options that may catch some players off guard.

To help folks who want to pick the prehistoric fighter up, both AcidGlow and Sajam have released character breakdowns with a ton of pertinent information. Both videos cover her normals and specials, as well as the unique forward and backward runs that replace her dashes and provide a handful of new pokes.

As for unique information, AcidGlow goes over how to use her standing heavy punch and kicks as three-hit linkers in addition to the crossup and vortex options she has at her disposal.

Meanwhile, Sajam details ways in which Riptor can zone out characters who don’t have projectiles and mixups afforded to her by canceling out of Predator Stance. He also talks about her Instinct Mode which, similar to Sabrewulf, power up her normals and specials, giving her more range while also speeding up her runs.

Take note, however, that since she’s only been about for slightly more than a day, things are still bound to change as people find more stuff to use both with against her.

BIFU|SpabRog Details How to Fight El Fuerte in Ultra Street Fighter IV

El Fuerte is one of the characters that has gotten a lot of attention lately in Ultra Street Fighter IV, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Pepeday from the Fukuoka Gamers Club.  As a result of this, many folks are coming to realize just how hard dealing with him can be once he’s gained momentum.

For those players who have gotten sick of getting Quesadilla Bombed, Bifuteki’s SpabRog recently started a brand new tutorial series dedicated to showing how to deal with the cooking luchador. The first three videos of the series are already available – the first provides a quick series overview and the other two deal with what a competitor’s mentality needs to be when playing against Fuerte and how to properly meaty him when he gets knocked down.

As a Fuerte player himself, Spab is offering quite a service with these videos, so check them out and see what you can learn.

Up Your Faust Batting Average in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

One of the new things given to Faust in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is the ability to hit the items he tosses out with his baseball swing Dust attack. This allows him more options in his zoning game by giving him more angles that he can control space from.

While the idea is simple enough, the execution isn’t as straightforward as it may seem due to the different properties of the many items he has at his disposal. To help players understand this, Zissou produced a new video that covers Faust’s items and demonstrates how to consistently change their trajectory.

The key, they say, is to hold down the punch button to make Faust toss the items closer to him. Not only does this give the player more time to identify the item, but it also removes any randomness in its flight path. Of course, each item still has its own unique properties, so hit up the video below to learn more about them.

Feel the Chemical Love and Learn Some Basics for Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-‘s I-No

Upon bringing her into Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Arc System Works toned down some of the execution barriers that existed for playing I-No at a higher level in previous games. That said, she still remains a rather technical character who requires some time and dedication to get good with.

Naotolololol recently put together a comprehensive, hour-long tutorial video for the rocking witch. The guide below covers most of the basics that players will need to play I-No, and includes helpful information on her normals, hit-confirms, and combos.

bbcp-celica-lambda-4gamer-14-622-crop

With all much of their focus placed on the recently released Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, some may be forgiven for forgetting about Arc System Work’s other fighting franchise, BlazBlue. Fans of that series can take heart, however, as some great news is coming courtesy of this week’s issue of Famitsu.

The magazine is reporting that a new console version of the game, called BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, is being developed for PlayStation 3 as well as current-generation platforms PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This represents not only the series’ debut on the new consoles, but also its first appearance on a Microsoft platform since 2010’s BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND.

Recent arcade additions Celica A. Mercury and Lambda-11 will be playable in this new release, which will also feature additional story elements featuring Bullet, Kokonoe, and Kagura. Crossplay support will be available between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND is scheduled to land in Japan on April 23.

HORI Developing Analog- and Touchpad-Enabled Dead or Alive Arcade Stick for PlayStation 4

With the PlayStation 4’s fighting game roster slowly expanding, many current and prospective owners of the system are likely looking at compatible arcade sticks. In line with their upcoming release of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, Team NINJA has partnered with peripheral maker HORI to release a new, and very unique, controller.

The arcade stick uses the updated Real Arcade Pro.V case used in the Xbox One version but adds a few unique features not seen on most other arcade sticks.

First up, it comes with dual analog sticks, mounted on what seems to be a removable hub, that attach to the space formed by the controller’s carrying handle. This has likely been added due to the fact that some of Last Round’s extra modes require analog controls. Additionally, the arcade stick also features a touchpad on the back of the stick, making it the first third-party peripheral for the PlayStation 4 to utilize the technology.

While few part details have been revealed, this peripheral most likely uses the same Hori Hayabusa lever and Kuro buttons seen in the most recent PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sticks.

HORI’s new Dead or Alive 5 Last Round arcade stick is expected to be released around February. Those interested can pre-order it for ¥15,300 (~$130 USD) from AmiAmi and Amazon Japan.

In the meantime, give the gallery below some of your attention and let us know what you think.

Just Defends? Stance Properties? LI Joe Breaks Down Street Fighter V’s First Live Match

Street Fighter V’s first match ever this weekend between Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas and Twitch’s Mike Ross left us with just enough gameplay to start to see just how different the game is from its predecessor. For those who’d like to hear another competitive player’s impressions of the game, Joe “LI Joe” Ciaramelli has provide an in-depth analysis of the specific mechanics he noticed.

Joe’s breakdown covers a few things that some folks might have missed, including small details like the change in the angle of  Ryu’s air Tatsumaki, the massive hitstun doled out by counter-hits (something that Joe predicts will really be important in the game), the multi-hit property on some of Ryu’s Hadoukens, and the unique blocking mechanic that seems similar to the Just Defend technique seen in Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Check out the video below and see if he’s covered anything else that you may have missed.
