The youngest qualifier for this year’s Capcom Cup, Team Curse’s Du “NuckleDu” Dang is one of the more surprising entries in the tournament. As one of the players who didn’t win a premier event to qualify, NuckleDu earned a good number of his points though online tournaments, narrowly edging out players like AVerMedia’s Bruce “Gamerbee” Hsiang and Evil Geniuses’ Kenneth “K-Brad” Bradley, who competed in more traditional, offline tournaments.
That said, it wouldn’t be wise to underestimate Du. His unique and fearless Guile play has gotten him quite far in tournaments, and his budding Decapre is considered one of the best in the United States.
In their latest Warriors of Capcom Cup video, UltraDavid and James Chen once again analyze tournament play to showcase NuckleDu’s unique style with these characters. Give it a watch to see what this guy is all about.
After months of speculation, with fans pouring over retailer and ESRB listings, it’s finally official: Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is coming to PC via Steam.
For now, only the full retail version of the game has been listed on Steam, and there is no word yet if the free-to-play Core Fighters version will be making its way there as well.
Last Round is currently available at a discounted pre-order price of only $35.99, 10% off the full price of the title when it launches. Those who buy the game early will be rewarded with special downloadable costumes, with more being unlocked as the pre-order numbers grow.
One interesting thing to note, however, is that the PC version will not have netplay at launch. Online functionality will apparently be added to Last Round by way of a patch that’s expected to release within the first three months after its release.

With Capcom Cup 2014 only a few weeks away, Capcom and UltraChen TV continue to highlight the players who will be participating in the big game.
First up, they take a look at none other than the Prodigal Son himself, Team Dignitas’ Ryan Hart. This Guinness world record holder is a perennial favorite in both European and international competition thanks to his strong Sagat play.
The second video focuses on Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis, arguably the best player in Southern California and possibly the entire west coast. Lewis has had a banner year, making top eight at Evo 2014 as well as winning consistently at Wednesday Night Fights.
As with all these breakdowns, UltraDavid and James Chen’s analysis features high-profile matches of both players to break down just what they bring to the table for Capcom Cup 2014.
Skullgirls Encore recently had its first arcade location test in Japan this past weekend at Akihabara Hey! and Taito Station in Osaka. The public demonstration was well-attended by both veteran players from the home versions as well as newer players wanting to try the game out.
One such veteran, Fychan, took the time to record some offscreen match footage from the location test in Akihabara. The game itself was also being broadcast from monitors around the arcade, making it easy to capture footage.
The game itself was based on the same build that is currently out for the home versions. That said, many players, including Fychan, noticed a bit of slowdown during certain moments as the aging Type X2 boards struggled to cope with the game.
In response to this, Lab Zero Games’ Mike Zaimont stated that the slowdown will be fixed, citing the necessity of location tests such as this to work out the kinks.
Andrewr, the primary developer working on the port, also addressed the issue, saying, “When I was testing the build that’s being used in the location test, I didn’t have any slowdown on my own TypeX2 testing unit. There are a couple of things that could have caused this. Either way, I’ll be getting a lower spec TypeX2 (or throttling my existing one) for when I’m testing Skullgirls, so that I can make sure there is enough performance headroom for actual arcade machines that are throttled down or lower spec. ” He continued by saying that multiple options are available to them in fixing the slowdown, resulting in only minor changes to the visual quality.
Whether or not these fixes will get tested in a second batch of location testing is as of yet unknown. In the meantime, check out Fychan’s photos from the location test below.
Whenever a new character comes out on any game, there’s bound to be some glitches that the development team missed. Such is the case with Killer Instinct’s Kan-Ra, who has an interesting visual bug that leaves his opponents wrapped up in his own bandages, as demonstrated in this video from Diek Stiekem.
In the video, he shows how Shadow Jago can escape Kan-Ra’s command throw by using the invincible frames of his Tiger Fury move. When this happens though, Shadow Jago will still get wrapped up in bandages as if the command throw successfully connected. The glitch doesn’t really do anything to affect the game, and the bandages get removed the next time the command throw successfully connects.
That being said, it’s still pretty cool looking, so check out the video below.
Strider is oft considered one of the best anchor characters in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. His ability to extend his combos using level 2 or level 3 X-Factor means that he’s very good at taking down other teams quickly.
In his latest Strider tutorial video, Marvelo teaches players how to land these combos and extend them to kill the opposing character. The demonstration features a ton of variety, so check it out and see if there’s anything you can add to your own toolset.
Last time out, Eternal demonstrated how to punish Rolento’s Mekong Delta Attack in Ultra Street Fighter IV. Now, they return with a brand new tutorial on how to deal with yet another seemingly hard-to-punish move.
Episode two of Eternal’s Punish Me series tackles El Fuerte’s Quesadilla Bomb. As with the previous video, this one shows how to teach errant users of this attack a lesson with every character in the game. Give it a spin below and see what you can pick up.
