Brawl Karter is back with another Mario highlight video for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. This time however, his video focuses on on particular match up in general, that against Little Mac.

Little Mac is currently considered one of the best, if not outright the best character for the game’s competitive For Glory mode. This is due to the fact that the flat “Omega” versions of the stages used in this mode favor Little Mac’s heavily ground based game.

This highlight video then demonstrates how Mario can be used as a counter-pick for Little Mac, using his FLUDD as a way to overcome the latter’s advantage on the ground.

In a game full of interesting characters, Ms. Fortune arguably ranks near the top of the weirdness chart in Skullgirls Encore. Her ability to detach her head in the middle of a fight allows the feline combatant to chain together some furious combos and resets that can deal catastrophic damage.

That said, being able to pull these combos off isn’t easy. To help new players out, Skippy McYay recently put together a tutorial video that teaches players how to beat down their opponents when Fortune is in separate pieces. Apart from the combos, they also demonstrate how to properly use her cranium to head off any reversal or escape attempts.

Evolution 2011 world champion Keita “RZR|Fuudo” Ai recently discovered an interesting new option select in Ultra Street Fighter IV. The technique, which he calls “Ai-Shiki” (literally “Ai-style”) after his surname, allows a player to option select between a regular focus attack and a red focus attack depending on whether or not their opponent attacks them.

KarbyP has uploaded a video that explains how Fuudo does it.  In the video below, he presses fierce punch and roundhouse kick together immediately after a focus, and then inputs the command for a red focus (pressing jab, strong and forward) at the same time immediately afterwards to cancel the focus once its armor absorbs a hit (called an armor cancel) into the red focus.

The interesting thing, however, is that the method shown above has already been simplified. As Dooplis demonstrates in his own video, you do not need to armor cancel the focus attack with a taunt as focus attacks can themselves be armor cancelled directly into a red focus attack.

With Capcom Cup just a few days away, UltraChen TV and Capcom Fighters are now quickly going through the remainder of the competitors at this year’s big event. This time, they take a look at a couple of Evo Street Fighter champions, 2011 first-place finisher Ai “Fuudo” Keita from Team Razer and this year’s champ Oliver “Luffy” Hay from Team Meltdown.

The last person to qualify for Capcom Cup thanks to his win at DreamHack Winter 2014, Fuudo has always been known for his solid Fei Long, not to mention a very lengthy and rewarding competitive history with the Virtua Fighter series. In order to showcase what he brings to the table, UltraDavid and James Chen break down his top eight match at Evolution 2014 against fellow Capcom Cup competitor Snake Eyez.

Now, there are some who attribute Luffy’s win to his use of Rose, a character who many consider to be quite strong in Ultra Street Fighter IV; David and James, however, point out that the French competitor has been using Rose and doing well with her since he started back in vanilla. That experience with the character allows him to play her the way he wants to and win, such as in the grand finals match at Evolution 2014 against Bonchan.

Capcom Cup 2014 is scheduled for this Saturday, December 13, at the historic Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, California.

Hugo was a characters that was almost universally considered pretty bad in Ultra Street Fighter IV.  As such, he’s one of those with a pretty big number of changes in the games version 1.04 balance patch.

Notable Hugo player and Shoryuken forum moderator JiBbo has put up a video where he does an in-depth look at Hugo’s changes in version 1.04.  In the video, he goes though each an and every bullet point on the change list, explaining what exactly the change means for Hugo, how these changes can affect his match ups and, more importantly how players should utilize these changes.

The Darkstalkers series is one of those franchises that commands a great deal of respect among many folks within fighting game community. Aside from paying homage to classic movie monster tropes, the series has also served as a testing ground for mechanics that were later adapted into Capcom’s other fighting game franchises.

Now, for those who are nostalgic about this much underrated franchise, join the Nostalgic Gamer as they take a look back on the series with this hour long retrospective. The video below goes from the series roots in the mid 90s, all the way to the “Darkstalkers is not Dead” project, while at the time, taking a look at the its impact on the fighting game genre
