Churning the Butter #22 feat. Ultra Street Fighter IV Streaming Live from San Francisco, California

Over the past few months, Northern California has been stepping their collective game up with regards to consistent events, and one of the big groups behind all this is competitive gaming organization ShowDown. Their weekly Churning the Butter tournament has only been running for a couple weeks, and yet they are garnering a player base on par with other local tournaments around the country. And, as we highlighted in videos from their second outing, some fantastic talent is showing up to throw down and improve their own game.

Tonight, they have once again taken over Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, California to put on an Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament for the regional players. NetherRealm Studios Sharing New Details on Mortal Kombat X’s Kitana and Reptile

Today, NetherRealm Studios will be connecting with the community through another special Mortal Kombat X broadcast. Like their streams for Injustice: Gods Among Us, this Kombat Kast will give fans the opportunity to check out new footage of the upcoming fighter as well as ask any pertinent questions they may have leading up to its release next year.

The show is expected to present some more details regarding Kitana and Reptile. They will also be taking fan questions, so be sure to get them in through Twitter by using the #KombatKast hashtag.

Tekken 7 Newcomer Shaheen Shows Some Mishimas Who’s Boss in First Screenshots

Thanks to Famitsu, we finally have our first in-game look at Tekken 7 newcomer Shaheen. A character six years in the making, the Saudi combatant can be seen doling out some hurt on series antagonist Heihachi Mishima in the images below.

According to gameplay details translated by Avoiding the Puddle’s Flying Wonkey, Shaheen possesses a unique ability that functions similarly to Kazuya’s Mist Step, allowing him to lower his profile through tackle-like movement.

Famitsu’s details go on to state that accurately judging the correct distances at which to use this move will play a big role in mastering Shaheen’s playstyle.

An early version of Tekken 7 is scheduled to land in Japanese arcades on February 18, with a full release planned for March.

Useful Pac-Man Setup Makes the Most of His Tools in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

A little while back, we highlighted a number of interesting combo options available to Pac-Man in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. While those afforded the classic character some big damage, they weren’t exactly the most practical knockout setups.

This time around, we have a great video that serves as just that, showcasing a useful situation in which Pac-Man utilizes his the Bell version of his neutral special to stun opponents and put them in prime position for a kill. This particular strategy was employed by a player named Chef Pac in an online match.

Level|Up Series’ Alex Valle Addresses Upcoming Wedesday Night Fights Season

After dropping news about Wednesday Night Fights’ return last month, Level|Up Series president Alex Valle jumped on stream today with Twitch’s Mike Ross to discuss the upcoming online tournament series. While much of the early show was dedicated to reiterating key points from the previous announcement, Valle eventually moved onto how the competitions will be structured.

By expanding the scope of their events from a single region to the entirety of North America, the organization is expecting to see a massive uptick in participants. Add to that the fact entry will be entirely free, the likelihood that they’ll reach that goal is pretty high.

Because of that, every Wednesday Night Fights tournament will be preceded by 256-player qualifiers on Tuesdays, the top sixteen bracket of which will be put on hold and carried over to the official events. Sign-ups will open every Monday, and a guide is forthcoming with complete instructions.

These qualifiers won’t be streamed by Level|Up Series, but they are strongly encouraging players to broadcast their own matches and will even be providing free overlay templates for those who wish to use them.

In addition to the usual prizes, the overall winner of the winter season will be flown out to SoCal Regionals 2015 in May, providing a huge opportunity for players outside the country to play at an international tournament.

Wednesday Night Fights 2015 is scheduled to begin on February 18. Both the qualifying and main events will start at 6 PM PST on their respective days of the week.
