Tonight, history will be made…

…okay, it’s not that serious, but it’s pretty big. Mad Catz’ Daigo Umehara, perhaps the greatest fighting game player ever, is currently hosting his very first live stream. And he’s brought some friends along for the ride.

In order to make this event as big as possible, Daigo has invited Mad Catz teammate Tokido, HORI’s sako, Nuki, Haitani, Razer’s Fuudo, and YUBIKEN’s Kichijojiken to join in. The game? Street Fighter V. That’s right. Japan’s five Street Fighter gods will be going toe to toe in the franchise’s latest installment. What more could you ask for?

Thanks to the NESiCA cabs that were recently installed at the Round 1 location in City of Industry, California, folks in the region have been able to enjoy BlazBlue: Central Fiction since its release last month. While their very first tournament has come and gone, organizers have put together another event today with the recent ‘Act2’ patch in place.

After having somewhat of a rebirth last year with a renewed focus on Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 competition, Undefeated in the Southwest returns to Arizona this weekend for another installment. But that doesn’t mean Marvel is the only thing on tap, as folks will also be making their way south to compete in Street Fighter V, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late.

While we’ve seen a number of release week tournaments pop up for Street Fighter V, Long Island native Joe “LI Joe” Ciaramelli has opened his home to a number of invited guests in an effort to shine a light on early high-level play. Today, they will duke it out in the new game, testing what they’ve learned in just a few days’ time.

The list of invited players includes Team PIE’s Smug, Evil Geniuses’ K-Brad, Bifuteki’s Spab Rog, Tinshi, Javits, Flipside Tactics’ Alucard, Moons, Marvisto, Kreymore, Empire Arcadia’s Hiro, Flux, Kick-Punch-Block’s Manny Fuerte, DaFeetLee, Zeus, OG’s Shine, and Always Godlike’s Native Impact. Two additional spots will be filled by a last chance qualifier.

The folks behind Wizard World Comic-Con are set to put on their first major gaming event this weekend in Portland, Oregon. The next few days will be filled with competition in Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4.

The long-running BEAST tournament series returns this weekend with another heaping helping of Smash competition. Held in Gothenburg, Sweden, this event represents some of the best Smash play in Europe, and has attracted a wide array of talent from all over the world.

Some of the players you can expect to see compete in Super Smash Bros.
