Back in September, we reported that Level|Up Series’ Alex Valle was contemplating the possibility of holding online tournaments for Killer Instinct in an effort to celebrate the unofficial beginning of the game’s second season. While his original idea was to put together weekly events, this discussion has resulted in the formation of a three-part tournament series.

Online Warrior Championships will see players gather for one tournament each in October, November, and December, with a decent chunk of change up for grabs at every stop. There are, of course, restrictions; all three events will be capped at 64 players, first come first served. Also, only North American competitors will be allowed to register at this time, and everyone must have a minimum 2mbp upload speed to take part.

Level|Up Series’ Killer Instinct Online Warrior Championships are scheduled for October 20, November 17, and December 22. Registration for each event will close the Friday before if the cap isn’t reached.

In the later days of August, NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon shared a rather cryptic image that many associated with the company’s upcoming Mortal Kombat X. While details were scarce (I mean, it was just a lineup of various footwear), the picture sparked a ton of debate in the community over whether we were being treated to very limited looks at cast members that had yet to be revealed or just alternate outfits. Fortunately, the latest character announcement has provided some new insight on this matter.

As many of you are probably aware, it was revealed last week that Quan Chi will be bringing his otherworldly powers to Mortal Kombat X’s playable lineup. Few, however, took much notice of his shoes. According to an updated version of the previous teaser from the creative director himself, the Mortal Kombat 4 sorcerer’s boney boots occupied the very first square. This leads us to believe that each of the following images depict fighters that will be revealed as we near the game’s release date.

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on April 14, 2015.

Fans in North America who opted to wait for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s official release in the region should be happy to know that Margaret is now up for purchase.

The third downloadable character to be released for the title after Tohru Adachi and Marie, the Velvet Room assistant utilizes three Personae to unleash a bevy of unconventional attacks. A preview of what Margaret is capable of can be found in the trailer below.

Margaret is currently available through both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live for $4.99.

While the entire scene is sure to shift to the Wii U version upon its release next month, the Smash community has been providing some early glimpses of how early Super Smash Bros. 4 competition is shaking out by way of the recent handheld release. One of the first high-profile tournaments to include the game, KTAR X, wrapped up this past weekend, and we now have replays to check out courtesy of CLASH Tournaments.

In addition to the usual singles and doubles tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this regional event also featured some great matches in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS courtesy of competitors like Jtails and Nairo, the former sticking with Diddy through much of the event and the latter switching between Robin and Little Mac as the need arose.

We won’t go into too many details in the effort of keeping spoilers to a minimum, but one simian fighter in particular is looking to be a mighty strong contender in this new game’s early days.

With BlazBlue: Chronophantasma now updated to ver.2.0 in Japanese arcades, players have been putting in some early work with new character Celica A. Mercury. While she’s been part of the story for some time, this new version of the Arc System Works fighter marks the first time Ms. Mercury has been playable, and she’s already proving to be an interesting addition to the BlazBlue roster.

Over the past few days, a smattering of videos have been uploaded to Nico showing a variety of basic and high-damage combos for the fighter, who teams up with her partner Minerva for a variety of attacks. If you’re interested in doing some research before the update finds its way to consoles, these videos should be the perfect way to start.

The folks over at Level|Up Series have just gone live with the beginning of Wednesday Night Fights’ fourth 2014 season, broadcasting from the newly-renovated Super Arcade in Walnut, California. Some of SoCal’s top talent will be in attendance to compete in Ultra Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Injustice: Gods Among Us.

In addition to the tournaments, Wednesday Night Fights will also feature another intense Ultra Street Fighter IV grudge match, this time between BROKENTIER’s Jay “Viscant” Snyder and Low Tier God.

The folks over at VG BootCamp recently went live with another installment of Smash @ Xanadu from Xanadu Games in Baltimore, Maryland. These weekly broadcasts provide a great look at the region’s Smash community, with tonight’s stream focusing entirely on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
