Level|Up Series returns tonight with the opening installment of Wednesday Night Fights Online Edition’s third season. This week’s installment of Next Level Battle Circuit is now streaming live courtesy of Team Spooky. As usual, the event is being broadcast from its namesake, Next Level Arcade, in New York City. Tonight, they’ll be running Ultra Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat X, featuring some of the best players on the east coast.

After five separate events in years past, the folks over at Versus Gameplay are ready to present yet another weekend of exciting competition at Absolute Battle 6 this September. With a wide variety of games and high-level production courtesy of PandaxGaming, Texas is sure to have another hit on their hands.
In addition to qualifiers for Killer Instinct and Dead or Alive 5 Last Round’s respective tours, Absolute Battle 6 will feature tournaments for Ultra Street Fighter IV (with an additional $1000 pot bonus), Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Mortal Kombat X, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND. And with PxG in attendance, you can also expect a handful of exciting exhibitions courtesy of their Ultimate Fight Night series.
Online registration is currently open, and players who register before September 14 will receive an Absolute Battle 6 shirt and custom player card.

With all the excitement surrounding Microsoft’s announcement of a third season of Killer Instinct content, one key piece of information might have been lost in the shuffle for all you crazed Battletoads fans out there.
Though the Rash reveal was crazy in and of itself, some official sources described Killer Instinct season three as having multiple guest characters show up during season three while others didn’t, leading some puzzle over the lack of parity. Fortunately, creative director Adam Isgreen was quick to answer a fan’s question concerning this matter, confirming that the fighting frog won’t be the only cameo in the upcoming season.

Killer Instinct season three is being developed by Iron Galaxy Studios with a planned released date of March 2016.

Earlier today, the official Street Fighter account on Twitter sent out a rather interesting message concerning the latest character to be revealed in Street Fighter V, Vega. While typically a charge character, the tweet in question revealed that the Spanish ninja will instead control with motion inputs.
The developers have made similar changes to other characters in Street Fighter V, such as removing the piano inputs on Chun-Li’s Hyakuretsukyaku (Lightning Leg) in favor of a quarter-circle, but the idea of Vega being altered so drastically piqued our interests. Could it be possible that one of his stances would retain the usual charge motions while the other took on this altered control scheme?
Seeing as these questions weren’t answered by other reports, we contacted Capcom community manager and Street Fighter V associate producer Peter “Combofiend” Rosas for clarification. “We’re just testing him out without charge motions at this moment in time,” he explained. “It’s not final by any means. If it’s a good fit, it may stay. If it’s too strong, it could go. We were just giving players a heads up so they’re not in utter shock when they use him at Gamescom.”
With Capcom’s added emphasis on offensive play in Street Fighter V, it’s no surprise that these changes have been made, as charge characters tend to be played rather defensively due to their controls. Now let’s see if this particular adjustments sticks.

Looking back, it isn’t hard to realize that Evo 2015 was the biggest installment of the tournament series since its inception. We felt it, both in-person and watching at home. But for those who prefer to back these sorts of things up with hard facts, the folks at Twitch have provided detailed stats concerning viewership.
The biggest figure here is probably the sheer amount of people who tuned in over the weekend, amounting to just under 4 million unique visitors. This constituted a 66% increase from last year. In fact, all factors, from concurrent numbers to total views, grew from Evo 2014, breaking even the lofty goals set by its predecessors.

After a successful opening event in June, the folks at Level|Up Series are set to put on another prelude to this year’s SoCal Regionals event this month. Just announced, SoCal Regionals 2015: Prelude II will take place on August 29, packing a ridiculous amount of competition into the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, California.
Continuing their tradition of including a wide array of games, Prelude II will feature tournaments for Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Killer Instinct, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX.
