Let’s Stun, Like Gentlemen! Gillstolemyride Shares Optimized Dudley Options Against the Entire Ultra Street Fighter IV Cast

Dudley player Gillstolemyride just launched a YouTube channel dedicated to the gentlemanly side of Ultra Street Fighter IV. The video that got the channel going covers a bevy of follow-ups to Dudley’s toward fierce attack, which are far from classy. They’re honestly a little scary.

This tech is intended for late-match use, as Dudley needs all the meter that he can get his gloves on, but as you’ll soon see, it’s meter well spent. All of these situations begin with Dudley hitting his opponent out of a back dash with a toward fierce and then proceeding to carry them across the screen with a series of slugs that will leave them only a couple of hits below their stun threshold. Landing that next attack or two will guarantee the lowest damage scaling possible for the following stun combo, most of which leave opponents with mere pixels keeping them standing.

The video is quite long–nearly 20 minutes–but Gillstolemyride has included a handy list of time stamps in the video’s description for easy navigation.

Sajam Shares Options for Escaping Pressure in Mortal Kombat X

In a game so centered around establishing and maintaining a favorable momentum through a mixture of intense pressure and okizeme, it’s important for players of Mortal Kombat X to understand how to turn the tide of battle in their favor when the opportunity presents itself.

Finding that opportunity isn’t always easy.

In the video below, Sajam gives a rundown of how to put a stop to pressure, Liu Kang’s in particular. Though he does only spend time explaining how to stop one character firmly in his tracks, these tips can be taken to training mode against any other character in the cast to expose the weak spots in their offensive game. If you find yourself being stopped regularly, this can also help you tighten up the gaps in your own offensive game.

This Collection of Ultra Street Fighter IV Resets Will Leave You Dizzy

There’s nothing worse than getting hit with a huge combo, then finding yourself with an impossible guessing situation on the other side of it. Whether it’s something so simple as an incoming ambiguous cross-up, or something more intimidating like Rose activating her Soul Satellite Ultra and initiating a dash while you’re in an aerial recovery state, you know that getting hit will mean lights out.

These situations are exactly what SSK|freeno0b captured in the video that you’ll find below. Chances are that you’ll see a thing or two that you’ve seen before–perhaps from other videos of this nature, or perhaps from actual matches–but there’s an even better chance that you’ll see something that will leave you wondering what happened.

Use Pac-Man’s Down Throw to Pile on the Damage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Missing a tech in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is something that every player wants to avoid and, thanks to a recent video from PEPESPAIN, they will definitely want to make sure their techs are on point when facing Pac-Man.

As you’ll see in the footage below, Pac-Man can create jab lock situations through the use of his down throw at certain percent ranges. Since this is the sort of thing that experienced players shouldn’t have any trouble keeping themselves away from, PEPESPAIN has also included options for what to do in the event that opponents roll back, forward, tech in place, or jump. These options aren’t as devastating as the jab locks, but they’ll still net Pac-Man a little bit of damage for his efforts.

If you’re a Pac-Main, or spend a lot of time beating up arcade legends, be sure to check out the video.

Saturday Morning Scrublords Kick it Old School with Super Fighter

Ah, the 90s–they were a simpler time: a time when ISPs charged hourly fees; a time when you could wear your neon shark swimming trunks to the grocery store without passersby averting their gaze; and a time when every company that had anything to do with video games wanted to get in on that sweet, sweet fight money. Naturally, the desire to do what Capcom did so well with Street Fighter II was more evident in some of these attempts at printing money than others, but few took such an unapologetic approach to stealing the Street Fighter spotlight as Super Fighter.

We’re talking fonts, sound effects, fighting stances, animations, hadoukens, and the list just keeps on going. The only aspect of Super Fighter that is most definitely its own is the platform that saw its initial release: MS DOS.

In the most recent episode of Saturday Morning Scrublords, the Super Best Friends sat down with this game and gave it an honest shot. You’ll likely notice–as the guys did–that the game’s copyright comes from just two short years ago. It turns out that a retro publishing company, appropriately dubbed the Super Fighter Team, picked up the rights to Super Fighter from its original owners, C&E, at some point in the early 2000s. What we’re looking at in the video below is the most recent update to the game.

If you like to see lesser-known retro fighters in action, be sure to check out the video below.

Add Some Damage to Dan’s Trade Situations in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Plenty of characters in Ultra Street Fighter IV can convert choice trade situations into massive damage–Sagat immediately comes to mind. Being able to recognize and react to these situations can turn a would-be loss into a hype-defining victory, so knowing what options you have available is key to mastering your character of choice.

Below, you’ll find a quick collection of combos from GroundedSF that display some of the options that Dan has in the event that his EX Dankukyaku results in a trade. These options aren’t all practical, and some of them are character-specific, but they’re certainly not to be overlooked.

A K A III N U’s Guile Takes the Stage in This Week’s Olympic Gaming Street Fighter Spotlight

Olympic Gaming is back with another episode of their Spotlight series, this time focusing on the Sonic Boom-chucking abilities of A K A III N U. As with previous Olympic Gaming videos, you’ll see this week’s featured player face off against a bevy of top-notch online warriors, as well FA|Ryan Hart’s Rolento.

A K A III N U certainly knows their way around a Sonic Boom, but there’s plenty more to Guile than sitting back and tossing projectiles. Since we’re talking about a Guile player more than capable of handling themselves, you’ll get to see all of the fighter’s tools put to use. This includes space control with a variety of normals, plenty of combo action, and an unusually high number of throws; but hey, whatever works, right?

Additionally, you can find a text-based interview with the highlighted player in the video’s description.

Sajam Explains Fireball Run Cancels in Mortal Kombat X

Generally speaking, the combo system in Mortal Kombat X isn’t all that tough to get used to. Netting massive damage off every connected hit can, of course, take a little practice, but a great number of the combos we see mid-match aren’t all that complicated compared to what we may run into in other titles.

There are a few characters, like Jax and D’Vorah, who get a good deal of their big damage through run-canceling fireballs. This is far from a foreign concept in other recent fighters (looking at you, Street Fighter x Tekken), but it does add a degree of execution that you won’t find elsewhere in the game.

With this in mind, Sajam put together a brief breakdown of the mechanic to give players a better idea of how to go about performing those pesky Wasp Grenade cancels.

Lucas Joins Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS on June 14

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Lucas SMALL

We knew that Lucas would be joining the cast of the latest Super Smash Bros. title this month, but it wasn’t until earlier this morning that we had an exact date. According to Nintendo of America, fans of the Mother 3 protagonist can look forward to picking up this returning character on June 14. This release date applies to both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game, so there will be no waiting for either system.

Keep in mind that Lucas will not be legal for tournament play at Evolution 2015 due to the short period between his release and the tournament dates; however, in the event that Lucas does come paired with any sort of balance changes or general system changes in the form of a patch, the tournament will be using those changes.

Upon release, Lucas will run you $3.99 for an individual purchase or $4.99 if you want to unlock him on both platforms.

NeonVerte’s Rose Nets Some Attention in Olympic Gaming’s Weekly Ultra Street Fighter IV Spotlight

Olympic Gaming is back with another Ultra Street Fighter IV player spotlight. This time around, NeonVerte takes center stage with some outstanding Rose play. The competition is no joke this week as NeonVerte faces off against Michael “Brolylegs” Begum’s Chun-Li and Arturo “TS|Sabin (or Yung Art, whichever you prefer)” Sanchez’ Dhalsim.

Even when the pressure is on, NeonVerte has no trouble finding openings to secure hits that lead into massive damage and close out rounds that looked all but hopeless. His match against Haelait’s Elena is a great example of this important quality.

As always, you can check out a brief text-based interview with the highlighted player in the video’s description, and be sure to check back next week for more from Olympic Gaming.
