Rock Out to Aganos’ Theme from Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct Ultra Edition owners get to take their first crack at the game’s newcomer, Aganos, today, but players in possession of the Combo Breaker edition of the game still have another week to endure. If you’re among those stuck waiting to give the golem a go for the first time, perhaps checking out its full theme will help make the wait more manageable.

The theme, which was composed, performed, and mixed by Mick Gordon, features lyrics from Panos Kolias. While the lyrics themselves do an excellent job of conjuring up the idea of a towering stone titan, it’s their delivery (among other things) that makes this song so unique. Instead of featuring a single, isolated vocalist, the track makes use of a crowd-sourced choir of vocals from 461 people, including the entire team at Iron Galaxy Studios and many members of Microsoft alongside Kolias and his family. If you listen really closely, you can almost pick Adam “Keits” Heart out from the mass. Almost.

Even if you haven’t yet had a chance to start slugging it out with this fighter, his theme is not one to be missed. Check it out below.

Persona Tackles Ryo and King in Latest King of Fighters XIII Combo Videos

If you’re a fan of Persona’s King of Fighters XIII combo videos, the wait for new uploads has come to a close! Below, you’ll see Persona break apart the game like only they can with both Ryo and King.

As with all of Persona’s “final version” videos, these reels contain plenty of situations that convert into what’s likely the maximum damage possible for the given screen placement, meter expenditure, and opening series.

In the case of Ryo, this results in more than a handful of dead opponents thanks to a single touch. King, however, doesn’t claim quite as many lives after connecting a hit, but that doesn’t make her strings any less stylish.

Rush Hour Smash Highlights False and Nairo’s Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Skills

Rush Hour Smash, known for their Super Smash Bros. for Wii U basic tutorials (among other things), recently uploaded two quick videos which they’re calling “mixclips.” These shorts feature top level plays from popular players and come complete with the same high-quality editing that we’ve seen in their tutorial series.

The clips, which you’ll find embedded below, feature False taking control of Villager and Nairo commanding a particularly terrifying Robin. While one might expect a nair-heavy display from Nairo, it’s actually False’s Villager that steals the show in that department, with the first kill on the Villager clip involving a series of merciless cartwheels.

If you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, you’ll not regret spending them with these videos.

Forbidden Technique TV Celebrates Akuma’s Roundhouse in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Plenty of things set Akuma apart from the rest of the shoto lineup in Ultra Street Fighter IV: aerial fireballs, the ability to cancel his far standing fierce into specials, his long-standing affinity with the Satsui no Hado, and his roundhouse. When performed at a distance, this high damage button moves the purveyor of the dark arts forward a great distance while dishing out two hits–perfect for approaching focus-happy opponents.

But this button is good for plenty more beyond that. It can be used to begin and extend combos that keep the demon’s damage at a respectable level. To take an extensive look at just how this button can be put to use in all sorts of combo scenarios and against a large number of characters, check out the video from Forbidden Technique TV embedded below.

Take a First Look at Charlie Nash’s Gameplay in Street Fighter V, Beta Access Options Announced

Until today, little information surrounding the addition of Charlie Nash to the Street Fighter V roster has surfaced. Since his announcement at Capcom Cup 2014, fans could do little more than speculate about the sort of character they’d see once the long-absent fighter made his triumphant return to the screen.

Today, a good deal of the mystery faded with the release of his gameplay trailer, which you’ll find below. As expected, the blonde, bespectacled brawler comes equipped with his classic one-armed Sonic Booms and his own take on the Flash Kick, as well as a handful of teleportation skills that look to offer him mixup tools akin to what we saw from Wesker in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Though the video only shows off about ninety seconds of Charlie doling out justice against Ryu and Chun-Li–leaving much to remain a mystery–we do get a close look at his character design, which features Frankenstein-style stitching holding together two different tones of flesh. Stick around until the end to see a static-laden image of a cackling M. Bison which could very well tease an upcoming reveal of the Shadowloo ringleader.

As an added bonus, the trailer mentions that Beta access to Street Fighter V will be available to those who pre-order the game. While no official dates for the Beta have been indicated, it’s exciting to see that this option will be available at some time in the future.

Alpharad Harnesses the Power of the Falcon Punch in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Captain Falcon has been showing the world his moves since he first stepped out of the Blue Falcon back in 1999. Since then, he has made a name for himself through the employ of his speed, his aerial knee, and his signature Falcon Punch.

The latest episode in Alpharad’s 101 series–which lends itself heavily to the entertainment end of the video spectrum–features Captain Falcon in all his glory. As with previous entries in this series of videos, Alpharad takes great strings, excellent reads, and some seriously wonky hitboxes and adds in heaping handfuls of text-based humor.

Oh, and there are plenty of Falcon Punches, too.

Do note that this video, as well as the others in this series, is loaded with NSFW language.

Learn About the Man Behind the Baton in Capcom UK’s World Warriors Series

Capcom UK started a series of videos earlier this year that looks at the characters appearing in the Street Fighter universe. Instead of offering tips and tricks on how to play these fighters, the series focuses on their history–everything from the games they’ve appeared in to the story elements that keep them rooted in the franchise. Previously, these videos have covered both Rose and Dudley, while the third episode, which hit YouTube earlier today, takes a look at baton-twirling mercenary Rolento.

Rolento’s history is an interesting one, as he counts himself among the handful of characters to appear in a Capcom title before Street Fighter II hit arcades. It’s fun to see how much the character has changed in this timespan, as well as how much he has remained the same. This is most apparent when Rolento’s boss battle from Final Fight begins and that same, upbeat theme song that we hear when he takes the stage in Ultra Street Fighter IV starts playing.

The brief battle leading up to Rolento also makes a compelling argument for why Cody is offered a knife in the middle of every stage in later games instead of a pipe. No one would stand a chance otherwise.

The video covers plenty more information surrounding the white-eyed warrior, so if you’re a fan of Rolento or just enjoy historical Capcom tidbits, be sure to check it out.

Put Some More Punch in Your Makoto Game with These Ultra Street Fighter IV Counter-Hit Combos

Counter-hits in Ultra Street Fighter IV, as with many other games, allow for a simple, single strike to turn into an otherwise impossible combo netting massive damage and stun output. When you take a character like Makoto, who has plenty of damage output anyway, and add in counter hits, things get out of control pretty quickly.

In the video below, you’ll find a huge collection of counter-hit combos for the Street Fighter III veteran. These combos include basics like options into her sweep and a quick way to confirm into her Ultra 1 as well as more advanced combos leading to resets that, when followed by a correct guess, will guarantee a stun on most of the cast.

Join Maximilian for a Couple of Rounds with Killer Instinct’s Aganos

Fighting game community hype man Maximilian recently uploaded a couple of Killer Instinct matches featuring upcoming season two newcomer Aganos taking on Riptor (decked out in her cyber flair). This gameplay footage gives a good idea of how the golem will approach things like gaining optimal positioning to start making his walls and slapping enemies around.

The video features two matches between the dinosaur and the golem, without commentary. Luckily, seeing Aganos in action is exciting enough to stand on its own. Be sure to check out the end of the first match to see Aganos’ stage ultra.

If you missed the Iron Galaxy Studios’ official Aganos stream, you can take a look at that by following this link.
