Coming to us from indie developer Han-Squirrel Studio, open-world strategy ARPG Sands of Salzaar created some buzz when it received an English localization update last year. Now, a little over a year later, Sands of Salzaar has launched out of Early Access. Choosing from one of eight classes (or build your own), can you build an army capable of ruling the Sands of Salzaar?
Is there anyone who isn’t happy that 2021 is over? Even with all of its challenges, 2021 was still a busy time for our indie developers. So it’s not surprising that even with many developers taking a break for the holidays, several took the time to recap their efforts of the prior year and give us a look at what to expect in 2022. Even though there was less news than usual, let’s go ahead and kick of 2022 with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

With many teams breaking for the holidays, it’s no surprise that this week was full of developers pushing out their last patches and dev logs of the year. Some devs looked back on the accomplishments of 2021, while others are already looking forward to reaching milestones in 2022. With this being volume 25 of the Indie MMO Spotlight, we’ve reached a milestone of our own. So let’s get the holiday festivities started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
The stockings are hung, the presents are wrapped, and the fruitcake is sitting untouched. It’s been a very busy week in the Indie MMO universe, with several big announcements filling the airwaves. One MMO changed hands, while another announced what many consider a questionable publishing deal. And of course, there were a ton of patches and updates, not to mention several ongoing and upcoming Alphas and Betas. So let’s cut the idle chit-chat and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
With less than three weeks remaining in 2021, the indie MMO universe is still as busy as always. Alphas and Betas are still popping off, holiday events are starting to ramp up, and there’s enough concept art and dev videos floating around to keep you busy for hours. Welcome back for another roundup of indie MMO news. It was a little quieter than usual this week, but what it lacked in quantity, the indie MMO universe was packed with quality. There are plenty of test events coming up, and several MMOs are already starting their Christmas events.
