Mikkel Kessler retires

Mikkel Kessler has retired from boxing after 17 years as a pro.
The former WBA/WBC super middleweight champion announced the news via a post on Twitter.
“Thank you for supporting me through out my career. It has been an absolute pleasure stepping into the ring, home as well as abroad,” it read.
In his last fight in May 2013, Kessler, 35, lost a 12 round unanimous decision to Britain’s Carl Froch, whom he defeated on points in 2010.

IBF middleweight champion Jermain Taylor’s title defence against Sergio Mora is off.
Taylor has been detained and questioned for discharging a firearm in Little Rock, Arkansas on Monday afternoon.
 The 36-year-old Taylor is being charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of Marijuana. He stepped out of a vehicle and was handcuffed by the police.
