Macklin to face Jorge Sebastian Heiland on November 15

Matthew Macklin (31-5, 20 KOs) will face Jorge Sebastian Heiland (24-4-2, 12 KOs) for the WBC International middleweight title in an official world title eliminator at The 3 Arena in Dublin on November 15.
Macklin and Heiland were due to meet  on August 30 at the National Stadium in Dublin, but the fight was postponed after Macklin’s trainer, Jamie Moore, suffered gunshot wounds during an incident in Marbella, Spain.

DeGale to fight Marco Antonio Periban on Cleverly-Bellew card

James DeGale will fight Marco Antonio Periban on the undercard of Cleverly-Bellew II on November 22 in Liverpool.

 

The 28-year-old hopes victory over the 30-year-old Mexican will springboard him to a world title fight with Carl Froch early in 2015.

 

Periban’s record stands at 20-2-1 (KO13) and last year he pushed Sakio Bika all the way for the vacant WBC super-middleweight title, losing on a majorty decision.

Jermain Taylor wins IBF middleweight title after dethroning Sam Soliman

Former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor (33-4-1, 20 KOs) defeated IBF world middleweight titlist Sam “King” Soliman (44-12, 18 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Wednesday night at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Taylor scored four knockdowns en route to  capturing Soliman’s title by scores of 116-111, 115-109 and 116-109.

Gonzalez halts Arce in eleven

WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (57-8, 48 KOs) scored an 11th round TKO over fellow Mexican Jorge “Travieso” Arce (62-8-2, 49 KOs) on Saturday night at the Centro de Usos Múltiples (CUM) in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Gonzalez dominated the action until gaining the stoppage victory, ending Arce’s hopes of winning a major world title in his fifth weight class.

Undefeated IBF super featherweight champion Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (21-0, 12 KOs) won a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision over Fernando David “El Vasco” Saucedo (52-5-3, 8, KOs) on Saturday night inside the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

British featherweight contender Josh Warrington (19-0, 3 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over Italian Davide Dieli (15-4, 5 KOs) on Saturday night at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Zolani Tete-Paul Butler postponed

IBF world super-flyweight champion Zolani Tete has withdrawn from his title defense against Paul Butler due to a broken left hand.
The unbeaten Butler was due to attempt to become a two-weight world champion at the Liverpool Echo Arena on October 25, having narrowly outpointed fellow Brit Stuart Hall for the IBF bantamweight title in June. But Tete’s injury means the South African’s meeting with Butler will have to be rescheduled.

Promoter Dan Goossen dies, aged 64

Promoter Dan Goossen sadly passed away on Monday, following a short battle with liver cancer, his family have announced. He was 64.

 

 Goossen was involved in many major fights and promoted fighters such as Mike Tyson,  James Toney, Michael Nunn, Terry Norris, David Reid, Gabriel and Rafael Ruelas, David Tua, Joel Casamayor, Paul Williams, Bernard Hopkins and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (41-4, 28 KOs) defeated British challenger Paul Smith (35-4, 20 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
