Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda took to the Square Enix Holdings website with his New Year’s Letter, which covers a number of different topics that the company aims to focus on throughout 2022. While the vast majority of the letter revolved around the influence of blockchain games, NFT and the metaverse, Matsuda also spoke of Square Enix’ investment into artificial intelligence and cloud technologies and how they intend to leverage all emerging tech in the future.

Is there anyone who isn’t happy that 2021 is over? Even with all of its challenges, 2021 was still a busy time for our indie developers. So it’s not surprising that even with many developers taking a break for the holidays, several took the time to recap their efforts of the prior year and give us a look at what to expect in 2022. Welcome back for another roundup of indie MMO news. It was a little quieter than usual this week, but what it lacked in quantity, the indie MMO universe was packed with quality. There are plenty of test events coming up, and several MMOs are already starting their Christmas events.
