Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] is the next iteration of the cult hit that’s found its way to tournaments everwhere! Aksys Games and Arc System Works announced the new game after the grand finals at Evo 2019, alongside developer French-Bread.
Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] will add one new fighter to the roster on top of “nearly a thousand balance changes and new moves.” Londrekia is a Void Hunter and a high-ranking member wof Ritter Schild who’s icy attacks are only matched by his cold demeanor. According to Aksys Games founder and CEO Akibo Shieh, players should consider this updated version to be “carefully rebalanced and perfected for the greatest possible anime fighting experience to date.”
While there haven’t been any confirmed consoles for the title, it was previously rated for Taiwan and Australia back in May and June respectively for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, so its pretty safe to say UNICLR will probably be heading there at least.

A quirky arena fighter that’s full of creativity and spunk
Looks like Black Salt Coreuption isn’t alone on its journey to rewrite expectations for arena fighters! Mighty Fight Federation was announced this weekend and debuted at the Media Indie Showcase at Evo 2019. This four-player battler “focuses on fundamentals and expansive character abilities.”
Mighty Fight features what the developers call, “Hype mechanics”. These can be used to zone, evade, counter, and play mind games with your opponent. The game will include a story mode, arcade mode, and character specific tutorials for all 11 zany characters.
The roster plans to offer a ton of variety, especially for an arena fighter. “Place traps, throw explosive projectiles and charge in with rush-down combos.” There’s someone here for everyone!
Those who love to listen to gaming music on the regular, like myself, will be glad to hear that Mighty Fight will be home to some incredible sounding tunes. Music by Tee Lopes (Sonic Mania), James Landino (RWBY, No Straight Roads), Vince DiCola (Rocky IV, Transformers) and Manami Matsumae (Mega Man, Shovel Knight) will all be found in the game. If that’s not an all-star composer lineup, I don’t know what is!
The game is being developed by Komi Games, a Toronto based studio, and they’ve got a Discord set up for prospective players to keep up with MFF’s updates! The game is projected to hit early access in Q4 of 2019 and on all platforms in 2020.
Julian Spillane, the founder of Komi Games, wants those that think arena fighters are only made for casual play to give the genre another chance.
“We think arena fighters have the potential to be as deep and competitive as their 2D counterparts, so with Mighty Fight we set out to make something that would evoke the classic games of the early 2000s but with an added sense of depth and complexity,” says Spillane.
“As die-hard fighting fans ourselves, we’re building the game that we want to play and we can’t wait to see how the community responds!”

An arena fighter with the goal of bringing competitive eyes to the genre
Black Salt Coreuption, an upcoming arena fighter that hopes to break the conventions of the genre, is showing off its latest version at Evo 2019 as a part of The Media Indie Exchange (MIX)!
Most 3D titles like Tekken, SoulCalibur, Dead or Alive, and Virtua Fighter, actually take place on a shifting 2D plane and battles aren’t truly on a three-dimensional space. Black Salt Coreuptiuon wants players to be free to move wherever they desire on the battlefield without giving up the depth in its gameplay.
I played Black Salt Coreuption at DreamHack Dallas earlier in the summer and it was a blast to play. There is definitely a lot more going on in this game than most arena fighters. Every character feels unique and offers something interesting to the roster in terms of both design and gameplay. Personally, a lot of arena fighters tend to feel kind of the same, with every character being a slightly modified version of each other. Luckily, this is not the case for Black Salt Coreuption!
The game is still in early access, so there a few things that need to be worked out, but the dev team is hard at work polishing the game before its projected winter 2019 release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Its currently running at a new price of $9.99 so it’s practically a steal if you haven’t gotten it yet on Steam!

Perfect Legend has been a bit of an advocate for the title and has been helping promote it through his social media channels.
“Each character has launching normal performed by: Holding guard and pressing towards your opponent + that light attack button.
To perform your special attack press away from your opponent and the Heavy Attack.
To Dash, you press 4/Circle/B (1234 notation, PS, Xbox)
You can perform normals in the air so when you launch you can jump to follow up your combo.
Opponents can breaker out of combos in mid-air, on the ground as well as breaker grabs.
To perform a grab you press RT/R2 to perform.
Grabs can be teched or breakered.
Breaker requires 2 bars of meter currently and you build meter by landing attacks.
Attacks can be guarded and you can be grabbed in the middle of your attack on block so you must cancel out of it into a jump or dash to not get punished.”
Those who enjoy the game can take the battle to the next level in an upcoming tournament in association with PVP Zone in Las Vegas. Turn on the power, Power Rangers! Evo Twenty Niiiineteen
Those attending Evo 2019 will have a shot at competing at the illustrious Bar Fights in Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid after qualifying through tournaments held at the Cross Counter booth today and tomorrow.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is an awesome gem of a game that’s really turned itself into something great through major updates and additional characters. I had my reservations at first, and I’m a huge Power Rangers fan, but the updates have really shaped it up into something special. (I will definitely write an editorial once time permits because it’s so awesome.)
Hopefully, the exposure brings more players to the title so it can get the support it needs to continue to grow. Fingers crossed for the White Dino Ranger, any Psycho Ranger, and Trakeena in a future season pass cause they’d be great.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Three new fighters arrive at once, but will there be more to come?
Its been over half a year since the announcement of Kage, the first character in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s Season 4 of content and players are finally getting more fighters for the roster!
Last night, after an unfortunate leak, Capcom officially announced that E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison will be entering the ring this weekend after the Evo 2019 finals! According to Michael Martin, the Director at Capcom Esports, the staff at Capcom “worked hard last minute to put out all the trailers for E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison.”
We got a little TOO excited – E. Honda will bless the ring and join the original World Warriors in #SFVAE! He’s accompanied by Lucia and Poison, a deadly duo of fierce Final Fight fighters.
Capcom did their best to pivot the unfortunate incident and bring the focus to player excitement, officially releasing the leaked trailer and three unique trailers for each individual fighter. You can check out the trailers below!

E. Honda is one of the oldest members of the cast, hailing back to the days of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. Poison is originally from Final Fight but was visible with Hugo in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, and became a playable character in Street Fighter X Tekken and Ultra Street Fighter IV. Lucia originated from Final Fight 3 as one of the four playable characters!
There is a lot to take in with the recent announcement, especially considering the state of SFV: AE, and the distribution of the fighters. Each character can be purchased separately on August 4th, or all together in a Summer 2019 Character Bundle on August 5th. (It is definitely odd the pack is being sold after the characters themselves, but I digress.) There will also be a new stage based on the E. Honda’s classic stage, but this will not be included in the bundle.
Street Fighter Series executive Producer, Yoshinori Ono, has stated that he will not be attending the final event at Evo 2019 this year. Whether or not this means there won’t be any additional announcements after the event has yet to be disclosed.
Guilty Gear Xrd REV2, Under Night, and Samurai Shodown lead the pack early!
Registration opened for CEOtaku 2019 about two weeks back, the fifth installment of Alex Jebailey’s anime “spin-off” event to Community Effort Orlando. Aimed at giving games of the air dasher variety their time in the sun as main titles, the event’s early registration leaderboard seems to indicate a strong showing by some of the event’s core attractions.
Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 is leading the pack, showing that there is still a strong following for the Team Red game, despite it not making the Evo main lineup this year. Following closely behind is Under Night In-Brith EXE: Late[st], which will be coming off a strong 1,156-player Evo debut. SNK’s hot newly-released Samurai Shodown comes in at third, with BlazBlue: CentralFiction and Cross Tag Battle rounding out the Top 5.
Skullgirls: 2nd Encore, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Million Arthur: Arcana Blood, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code and Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax IGNITION round out the Top 10 of the 16 main games, with the last two tied for 9th.
Jebailey also gives Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 an Honorable Mention for not currently being in the last place. Other main titles include Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R, SoulCalibur VI, Sailor Moon S, Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai, and Kill la Kill the Game: IF.

SRK covered the retro 90s’ inspired 3D fighter Schwarzerblitza while back, and in prepping for its launch, artists are getting one more chance to have their original costume designs placed in the game! The original deadline for the contest was August 1st, but it was extended until August 7th to give artists more time to submit their entries.
All the previous posters will get an extra entry as well, so those who already took part can test their creativity even more! According to the developer, this will need all those interested to take part!

If you’re looking for a big tournament after Evo, Red Bull has got just the thing for you. Last week the energy drink manufacturer and Esport sponsor announced their latest tournament, Red Bull Conquest 2019, which will begin late next month and will feature a surprising newcomer to the event, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st].
The tournament will have qualifiers throughout the country with the finals taking place at the home of Red Bull, Santa Monica, Calif.
Returning FGC commentators and personalities Steve ‘Tasty Steve’ Scott, Michael ‘YipeS’ Mendoza, Samantha ‘Persia’ Hancock and Jeremy ‘Vicious’ Lopez will host each of the regional Qualifier events and the National Finals.
