King of Fighters, Attack on Titan Collaborations Coming to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

Team NINJA is wont to share exciting information at their annual Dead or Alive Festival in Japan. Last year’s event saw the announcement of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. This year, however, they’re collaborating with a couple of known franchises to bring some extra flavor to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round.

The biggest collaboration is with legendary fighting game company SNK. None other than Mai Shiranui from SNK’s King of Fighters and Fatal Fury series will be joining the cast of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round this coming September. In a way, this addition makes sense since Mai served as the prototype for the kunoichi archetype that Dead or Alive as a series is fond of.

You can see the teaser for Mai at around 3 hours and 42 minutes into the official YouTube archive of the Dead or Alive Festival live stream. For those who don’t want to have to go through the entire stream, Rojikku was able to capture the teaser portion from it.

In addition to Mai, the game will also be getting costumes based on the King of Fighters characters Yuri Sakazaki, Hinako Shijou, and Kasumi Todoh.

Now this is just one big collaboration that’s going on with DOA5 Last Round. The second big collaboration is with another “SNK,” this time the hit anime and manga franchise Shingeki no Kyojin, known in the west as Attack on Titan. A new stage as well as downloadable costumes based on the franchise will be coming to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round on July 19.

Guiseppe’s Gaming was able to capture the video of these stages and costumes from Team NINJA’s stream.

In addition to these, Team NINJA also announced the game’s 5th Season Pass for costumes, which includes an exclusive Nyotengu costume, as well as a collaboration based on the visual novel and anime franchise To Heart.

Street Fighter V Servers Shutting Down Tuesday to Address Ibuki Air Throw Glitch

With Ibuki’s addition to Street Fighter V so close to Evo 2016, the viability of the character for competition at the tournament (along with Balrog, added at the same time) has been a controversial topic. Fears seemed to have been confirmed with the discovery of a glitch granting the nimble ninja six frames of invincibility upon landing after a whiffed air throw.

However, Capcom has announced through the SFV Server Twitter feed that we’ll be seeing a brief shutdown of the Street Fighter V servers on July 12 to deal with the potential exploit, along with some other V-Skill bugs.

Looks like anyone that might have been hoping to take advantage of this particular glitch will need to reconsider their strategy before diving into Evo’s SFV pools, starting on Friday, July 15.

Prepare For The Possible 3vo with This Hype Trailer for Cloud 9’s Mang0

Evo has some special resonance for certain competitors, being the place where they were enshrined as the greatest player of their specific game. Legends are written in Las Vegas and one Melee player is on the cusp of three Evo crowns, that being Cloud 9’s Mang0. Having won in 2013 and 2014, the Kid is eyeing up his 3rd victory after a successful win at WTFox 2 this past weekend and his recent work to beat personal demon, Team Liquid’s Hungrybox.

As a way to get the Mango Nation hyped up for this possible historic victory, Mang0 has put together his own hype video, piecing together some of his historic 1st place wins to get his fans believing in the 3vo. However, with the best of 3 format up to winners, losers and grands at Evo, all it takes is someone to get the initial momentum on Mang0 to make him buster out in losers. However, Mang0 is known for gaining power at Evo and in the losers bracket so expect plenty of USA chants over the Evo weekend, no matter what the outcome.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction Es Trailer Showcases the Sword-wielding Maiden

The previously teased heroine of Xblaze: Code Embryo, Es, stars in Arc System Works’ latest trailer for BlazBlue: Central Fiction.

This time, we get a much better look at her combos at work, in particular. We get to see how her attacks chain together and even mix up into an overhead. As for her Drive, it makes Crests appear on the screen after her attacks, which she can utilize to buff follow-up moves. There’s also footage of her Distortion Drives and her Exceed Accel, which is a new technique added in Central Fiction.

Es is the first downloadable content character for Central Fiction.

The console-exclusive Es joins the playable cast of 32 characters. She will be available with the Japanese release on October 6th of this year, and later this Winter in North America and Europe.
