Combos, Kunai and Resets Abound in This Ibuki Roundup for Street Fighter V

We’re seeing lots of crazy combos surfacing as Street Fighter V’s Ibuki spends more time in the wild, most involving a lot of kunai-flinging and bomb-throwing, mixed with expertly timed jump-ins and dashes. She’s shaping up to be in top ninja form.

In the words of Naruto Shippuden’s Deidara: art is an explosion! Doopliss runs with this theme to demonstrate the many explosive applications of Ibuki’s potent V-Trigger–including full screen length kunai juggles!

Following up on his shorter initial videos, desk brings us his first full combo video for the spunky kunoichi, pushing her to her limits.

MrBshock shows off this (obviously not infinite) looping kunai sequence:

Masterstabbity took some time to compile a huge collection of resets for the returning kunoichi. Many of these can result in a kill, though the practicality of landing the hit following the reset itself will depend largely on the opponent in question. Even so, these are a great start down the path to bringing back the polarizing spirit of Ibuki.

If plain old resets just aren’t enough, how about some vortex options? A player by the name of jorge0531 has discovered a vortex for Ibuki’s newest appearance that gets back to the heart of her Street Fighter IV play. This vortex requires meter, so it can’t loop into itself forever–perhaps bringing into question its “vortex” status–but if the stars align, it can result in a stun in only a couple of reps, meaning that it doesn’t really have to go on forever in order to secure a victory.

If you’re looking to add some longer combos to your arsenal, this collection from Brian Kasugano may be just what you need to get started!

On Twitter, Martel@ストV has been showing off the interesting (and amusing) games of hot-potato that can be played with the Horokudama.

To close things out today, we have a reel of basic combos from Evil Pixel. If you’re looking for a practical path to victory, or are just getting started with Ibuki, this video will help make sure you’re headed in the right direction.

Check out our prior Ibuki roundup for even more ninja action, or check out her official character introduction from Capcom.

Katsuhiro Harada Talks Tekken 7’s In-Game Item Customization, Hints at Possible Street Fighter V Crossover Items

One of the features that the arcade versions of Tekken 7 and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution have is the ability for players to earn or buy items from Tekken.Net so that they can be used to customize the look of their characters.

In a recent interview with Siliconera, Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada was asked if these items would be coming to the home versions and, more importantly, if microtransactions would also be involved.

Regarding this, Harada stated that since the arcade and console businesses are separate, they would not be charging for any customization items that are already in the game.

However, he did state that if they do come up with new things post-release that weren’t originally intended, they would be charging for them. Alongside this, he used a pretty interesting example–a Karin costume from Street Fighter V–noting that, if such a thing were to happen, they’d have to pay Capcom for it.

While this isn’t any sort of confirmation that such a thing is in the works, it does seem to indicate that, at the very least, they’ve thought about it. Whether or not we actually crossover costumes in the game is another matter altogether.

Microsoft Survey Reveals Possible Crossovers, Remakes Coming to Killer Instinct

After Season 3 included Rash from Battletoads and Arbiter from the Halo franchise, it goes without saying that Microsoft is keen to use its Intellectual Property rights to further bring in players to its Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive fighter, Killer Instinct. So, when Microsoft released a new survey to help developers at Iron Galaxy Studios craft the next season’s roster, it comes as no shock that some familiar faces would end up making the cut.

While Eyedol, who was the final boss in the original Killer Instinct, fits the mold, a few of these don’t quite fit the Killer Instinct universe. As evidenced in the above picture, characters such as Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark, Agent from Crackdown, and Brute from Halo all are on the list, hinting that a few of these characters might make it into the game at some point.

Even further, they also gave the possibility of reimagined characters, such as Shadow Orchid, or a rushdown variant of Glacius known as Kelvin, making the cut.

What do you think of this direction in Killer Instinct? Do any of these characters strike you as interesting enough to play the game? Let us know in the comment section.

Daigo Umehara Talks 1-On-1 with Daily Dot Esports from CEO 2016

Daily Dot Esports caught up with BST|Daigo Umehara at Community Effort Orlando 2016 to talk about Street Fighter V and his performance in the game at CEO this year–which he says he is very happy with, compared to DreamHack Summer 2016, as he felt the competition at CEO was on a higher level. He comments on how Tokido’s victory over RZR|Infiltration at CEO now makes Tokido the player to keep our eyes on in Street Fighter V.

Among other matters, they talk about whether Umehara feels pressure from his fans to perform well, and his concerns that his age may be impairing his ability to compete in fighting games (and how he wants to win again to prove otherwise). Daily Dot Esports also asks: what exactly does a Twitch Global Brand Ambassador do?

Daigo Umehara recently expressed some interesting opinions about Street Fighter V’s future with the Capcom Pro Tour, which are also briefly touched upon in this interview.

You can also hear what Tokido has had to say lately in our own interview and from the CPT Interview Series at DreamHack Summer 2016.

Government Backed British eSports Association Has Formed with Potential Fighting Game Representation

Following some backing from the UK Government (which seems to be in tatters at the moment), an official non-profit organization has been formed, named the British eSports Association, to “develop a grassroots competitive video game scene that will nurture future talent and support existing professionals.”. This Association is based in Pinewood Studios and will work directly with the Department for Culture, Media and Sports to foster an infrastructure to promote local talent and support scenes within the UK.

Along with this announcement, the British eSports Association has launched its official site, which will act as a hub for news on events, local teams and leagues which players can compete in. Now you may be asking, what does this have to do with fighting games? Well, in order to help determine the future of UK eSports, the Association needs player and fan feedback to determine the direction which the organization should take going forward. So, if you wish to see Street Fighter, Smash, Tekken or any other fighting game represented by this Association, send your emails in to the following address. Don’t fret players outside of the UK because as part of this initiative to launch the eGames in South Korea in 2018, countries like the USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Korea will also be fielding their own national eSports associations. Make sure to petition those organizations for fighting game representation, when their respective sites launch.

Apparent Glitch Gives Ibuki Invincibility After Missed Air Throw

Street Fighter V’s Ibuki suffers from an apparent glitch that gives her several frames of invincibility upon landing after a missed air grab. A video from @ToolAssisted’s Twitter shows Ibuki’s hurtbox disappearing as she lands from the whiffed air grab, allowing another Ibuki’s V-Skill to pass through her.

Ibuki can still be hit out the air as normal, but she gains six frames of invincibility when she hits the ground, meaning that attacks that could’ve punished her landing recovery will miss entirely. This occurs when Ibuki is jumping both forward and backwards with air grab.

Glitches like this are not exactly uncommon for downloadable characters, but with Ibuki and Balrog already being given the green light at Evo, this glitch will likely raise some concern among the competitors.

Though the invincibility could be exploitable, this certainly isn’t the first time that such a glitch has existed. In Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Yang was granted several frames of invincibility when standing up from certain knockdowns.

That glitch was discovered in the early days of the game’s console release, and eventually removed in AE v.2012.

With Evo less than two weeks away, it’s unknown whether Capcom will address the invincibility glitch or if the issue is significant enough to affect her legality in the tournament.
