Up Your Peach Game in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U with this Z-Drop Edge Guarding Tech

Edge Guarding is a vital technique in the Super Smash Bros. series. This method of taking stocks is a cornerstone of any good Smash player’s approach to the game, so it’s only natural for players to come up with varying strategies to maintain their advantage after knocking an opponent off the stage.

Peach main Dark.Pch came up with some useful edge guarding tech that the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom can employ. This strategy involves dropping a turnip off of the stage while the opponent is recovering, then harassing them with Toad to ensure they can’t make it back on to the stage.

Dark.Pch has other useful Peach videos as well. Some are tutorials like a break down of how to pressure opponents, but some are analysis-based, like this Peach vs. Captain Falcon matchup breakdown.

Relive the Hype of Mikado Arcade’s Recent Fatal Fury Special and Super Street Fighter II Turbo Tournaments

The world famous Mikado Arcade continues to bring old school 2D action to competitive life in Japan. A total of 53 players showed up in early April to throw down in another dual-game nostalgia blast in the neighborhood of Takadanobaba. This time, the games in question were Street Fighter 2 X: Grand Master Challenge–which we know better in the US as Super Street Fighter II Turbo–and Fatal Fury Special.

The footage, which only recently made its way on to YouTube, features fantastic play, difficult single-elimination brackets, wide character usage, stage interactions, and sweet 60 FPS quality. Click on the videos below to immerse yourself in classic footsies.

Looking for more old school action from Japan? Don’t miss out on the footage from this recent Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike event hosted by Game Daytona.

Capcom to Share Special Announcement at this Weekend’s Combo Breaker

Late yesterday, the folks at Capcom took to Twitter to announce that they’ve got something special in store for viewers tuning in to the Street Fighter V finals at Combo Breaker.

While the Tweet leaves much to be desired when it comes to information surrounding the nature of the announcement, it’s hard to imagine that Capcom will be sharing anything other than news related to upcoming Street Fighter V content. While smart Fight Money may be on learning more about the upcoming iteration of the Boxer who most certainly has Bison Dollars on the brain, we can all hold out for learning more about the future characters we’re most looking forward to.

Ibuki, anyone? No? Alright.

Combo Breaker is set to take place this weekend, May 27-29 in St. Charles, Illinois. For more information surrounding the event, you can head over to their official website.

White House Petition to #FreeLeffen Surpasses 100,000 Signature Goal

It’s doubtful that you haven’t heard about William “TSM|Leffen” Hjelte’s P-1 Visa issues by now. I’m not going to be going over the nitty gritty here; that was already done at length earlier this month here on SRK. The important footnote is that the response to Leffen being denied a Visa was huge. In response to this perceived injustice, a petition was started on the official White House site. The petition requests that all eSports players should be allowed Athlete Visas. Competitors in League of Legends are considered athletes by the government and have been given Visas, so the case for eSports competitors getting Visas has already been made, and won, in some ways.

How the petition site works is that if you get 100,000 signatures within 30 days, you’ll get an official response from the White House on the matter within 60 days of the petition’s closure. While a “yes” isn’t guaranteed–and no one should get their hopes too high–getting this petition to the goal number is definitely a step in the right direction. If the White House moves in our favor, it could mean that many other international eSports players could have their lives made easier moving forward.

Once more, It’s important to stress that reaching this goal doesn’t guarantee anything, so please keep expectations reasonable.

ZeRo Describes His Top 5 Favorite Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Moments

TSM|Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios has recently returned to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U competition at Toronto’s Get On My Level 2016, after a finger injury that kept him from playing his favorite game for two months.

Now that he’s back in the Smash action, he takes some time in his latest video to describe his top five favorite moments–as in “epic,” “unique,” or “amazing,” in his words–from Smash 4 tournament history. Such moments include the SoCal vs. Tristate Crew Battle from earlier this year, and Smash 4’s first appearance at Evo.

ZeRo also recently spoke about how he thinks Ryu could be Smash 4’s best fighter.

Check Out Even More King of Fighters XIV Play from Stunfest

The King of Fighters XIV saw a lot of traffic at Stunfest thanks to eager folks wanting to get their hands on the game early. This also meant those not able to attend the event got a chance to experience the game vicariously through streamed footage.

For those who didn’t catch it live, there was plenty of impressive play from players like Frionel, Piccolo San, and Qanba|Xiaohai. You can see some of those replays below.

Despite the fact that the game isn’t out yet, Grave Lee was able to put together a quick combo video highlighting it. Granted, this combo video is simply comprised of cool combos from the play at Stunfest, but it’s still worth checking out. Roughly half of the characters available in the Stunfest demo are shown off here, so it’s a pretty good chance to take a peak at what characters are capable of in the upcoming title.

If you’d like to give the game a go before it releases, or if you just want to catch more early footage, be sure to keep your eyes on events like Combo Breaker and CEO.

Atelier Series Costumes Coming to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is no stranger to costumes based on the IPs of other companies. The most recent one of these was a series of Tatsunoko costumes that came out last January.

For their next batch of crossover costumes however, the company is moving back to the realm of video games. Specifically, Team NINJA is partnering with Gust Co. for a series of costumes based on the latter’s Atelier series of Japanese role-playing games.

For those interested in how the costumes look, you can check them out in this new trailer from Team NINJA.

These new costumes should be available by May 24 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Up Your Cammy Game in Street Fighter V with these Options

If you play Cammy in the latest Street Fighter and find yourself wanting to rise up the online rankings–or bolster your performance in tournaments–you’re in luck, as we’ve recently received two handy tutorials focusing on strategies with the Killer Bee.

In the first, YouTuber Nyasha showcases multiple safejumps, tech chases, pressure options, and a deceptive 50/50 setup while also offering insights into dealing with a few character matchups.

Up next, Micah Lewis breaks down a number of different ways to follow a connected Spiral Arrow to make sure your opponent feels the pressure. These options are demonstrated against three-frame normals, so be sure to give them a try against opponents prone to jabbing on wakeup.
