Street Fighter V handles chip damage quite differently from previous Street Fighter games. The fact that medium and heavy normals deal recoverable chip damage, but only Critical Arts can actually secure a kill against a blocking opponent means that ending a round through such methods takes a good deal more planning than just hoping someone blocks one too many fireballs.

In this new video, SFtheWolf demonstrates some optimal chip damage setups that characters can use to try to close out matches on a blocking opponent.

The setups below are designed not just to deal as much chip damage as possible, but are also true blockstrings, meaning that the opponent cannot reversal out of them except with a V-Reversal. Take note, however, that the damage values shown do not take into consideration the guts-style damage scaling that takes place at the end of a health bar, so the numbers presented will be slightly reduced when these tactics are attempted to close out a match.

Aside from new characters and refined game balance, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is also brings a host of graphical updates to the table. The series’ switch to 3D makes this easier to do compared to its sprite-based predecessors.

It’s these changes to the game’s graphics that HurtboxTV explores in their latest video. The changes involve a lot of tweaks to the game’s lighting, including new global lighting that sees characters, projectiles, and certain moves now acting as their own independent light sources. Additionally, the game’s stages have been updated to both better show off the new lighting effects (e.g. the Central Organ Tower stage taking place at sundown) and other effects, such as fireworks.

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- launches for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on May 26 in Japan, June 7 in North American, and June 10 in Europe.

Wednesday Night Fights returns to the eSports Arena in Santa Ana, California tonight for the finale of their first 2016 season, with Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U again acting as the main competitive titles.

But that doesn’t mean those are the only games they’ll be featuring. Attendees can also expect community-driven efforts for Pokkén Tournament, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late.

If you just picked up your demo copy of Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, you may be looking for some new tactics to try out in training mode. If you’re an I-No player in this situation, you’re in luck, as a good bit of technology for her surfaced earlier today thanks to a playlist from a player by the name of mynusdono.

The tech comes in the form of damaging combo routes, as well as some methods for counteracting Blitz Shields through the use of precisely-timed Yellow Roman Cancels. Not everything in the playlist comes from REVELATOR, so if you’re looking to get into I-No, it’s also a good place to get started with more general strategies for the character–like instant overheads.

ESL’s Mortal Kombat X competition returns today with the first weekly tournament in their third seaosn. Similar to previous seasons, the first few rounds of this online tournament have narrowed the playing field down to eight competitors in each region, who will be going at each other’s throats today to earn their way towards the grand finals event next year and its $200,000 prize pool.

Some of the more notable players you’ll see participate this week include cR|Sonic Fox, UA|Scar, Jupiter, st9rm, Harry NightMare, Sakr0n, Arzu, and more.
