Street Fighter V Beta Glitches Hurt Cammy, Help Chun-Li

Being that the game is still in beta, it’s understandable that Street Fighter V still has some glitches that need ironing out. At least two were discovered in recent builds.

First up, if Cammy mistimes an anti-air back strong and gets hit, the attack lands not once, but twice, regardless of the jump-in’s properties, and receives double damage. In the video below, SBABigArch breaks this glitch down showing the range in which it’s triggered.

Next, Raf El discovered a strange interaction that causes an airborne opponent to slowly float to the ground should they land on Chun-Li’s Kikoken, allowing her a chance to juggle for more damage. As we haven’t seen this before and no other examples were provided, it’s possible this is character-specific to Zangief or an oddity of early online play.

The bug in question happens around 1:47. A slow motion replay is also available near the end of the video.

Street Fighter V is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4 and PC. Let’s hope these bugs don’t come with it.

Sajam and Infil Provide Mini Tutorials for the Entire Killer Instinct Cast

With season three’s characters, balance updates, and PC release coming in March, it’s easy to see why Killer Instinct has recently drawn so much attention.

With a whole new group of players looking to get in on their share of the hype, Killer Instinct masterminds Sajam and Infil teamed up to create a series of short–seriously, they’re about thirty seconds each–videos to promote the Killer Instinct World Cup and discuss what makes each character in the game tick. You may think thirty seconds isn’t long, and you’d be right, but you’ll also likely be surprised how much information can be crammed into such a short period.

We’ve included a couple of the character guides below along with a primer on how the game’s combo breaker system works. You can find the rest in the full playlist, and if you’re looking to improve your Killer Instinct knowledge even more, be sure to check out Infil’s website.

Street Fighter V Final Beta Roundup feat. Ambiguous Chun-Li Setups, R. Mika Strategies, and More

We’re now less than two weeks away from having the final version of Street Fighter V in our hands, and we’ve got one last beta footage roundup to share. In a style similar to our previous roundups from this final beta phase, much of the content you’re about to see comes in the form of match highlights.

Up first, Lucius from Rush and Kill Clan offers a look at some devastating Chun-Li technology. After ending a combo with EX lightning legs, it seems that Chun-Li can use her V-Skill to put herself into a position offering ambiguous jump-ins.

We saw similar footage earlier this week from wauhti, but Lucius’ contribution provides options for outside of the corner as well. Don’t forget to stick around until the end for some lengthy combo extensions.

Next on today’s list, EyeOfThundera822 shows off his chops with Nash. These highlights offer a look at the sort of potential the returning character has, including combos, resets, V-Trigger usage, how to deal with projectiles, and plenty more.

Lastly, we’ve got some more R. Mika footage from Negativeedge. If you’ve had a chance to see Mika in action, you’ve likely got a good idea of what to expect: resets on top of resets. There’s a chance you’ve seen some of these options before, but be sure to check out how Mika deals with Rashid’s V-Trigger.

Bayonetta, Corrin Join Super Smash Bros. Roster

As promised over the weekend, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS players can now access Bayonetta and Fire Emblem Fates’ Corrin.

Both characters can be purchased for the Wii U or 3DS version of the latest Super Smash Bros. title, or in a pack for both systems. Of course, it wouldn’t be a batch of Smash content without plenty of Mii costume parts thrown into the mix as well, and you can grab all of this new content together if you so choose. And finally, players can now grab every post-launch character as part of the All-in-One Fighter Bundle.

The price breakdown for the United States is as follows:

  • Bayonetta – $5.99 one system, $6.99 both systems
  • Corrin – $4.99 one system, $5.99 both systems
  • Mii Fighter Costume Bundle #6 – $4.50 one system, $6.90 both systems
  • Collection #6 (Bayonetta, Corrin, Costume Bundle #6) – $15.48 one system, $19.88 both systems
  • All-in-One Fighter Bundle (every post-launch character) – $34.93 one system, $41.93 both systems

Details for other regions can be found on the official website.

As was noted before, these are the final characters to join the Super Smash Bros. cast, and it’s likely that the game has also received a number of balance changes. Stay tuned for more information.

Fan Renders Bring Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike’s Q to Three-Dimensional Life

Artists have been drawing inspiration from gaming for as long as we’ve been able to pick up pads and move shapes around the screen. Well, maybe not the entire time–I doubt something like Pong initially lit any creative fires–but it’s been happening for a long time.

One such artist, by the name of Pior Oberson, recently drew inspiration from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, taking on the task of creating a 3D model for Q. Those who have spent years looking at the 2D sprite associated with the mysterious fighter will be pleased to see Oberson stayed true to their subject material, right down to the pork pie hat.

You can check the images out in the slideshow below, or head over to Pior Oberson’s Tumblr to see the originals.

Does Q look better in 3D, or should he stick to the second dimension? Let us know what you think.

Level|Up Series Eyeing October Dates for SoCal Regionals 2016

With a brand new year of competition already in full swing, tournaments across the globe have begun announcing plans for their next installments. The same can be said of SoCal Regionals as of this morning thanks to an announcement by organizer Alex Valle.

Level|Up Series is apparently targeting October 14-16 as the SoCal Regionals 2016’s official dates. Due to the language, it’s entirely possible these may change in the future, but players now have something to start planning around until official details drop.

Venue issues forced SoCal Regionals to delay last year’s event from summer to fall, though a pair of Prelude events held competitors over until then.

Keep your eyes on Shoryuken for the latest information as it becomes available.
