Daily Dot eSports’ Best of III has been doing a bang up job with interviewing fighting game community personalities as of late, and their latest interview is no exception. The latest installment of their show welcomed the man of many hats David “UltraDavid” Graham onto the show to discuss recent happenings in the scene.

Over the course of this interview, the team at Best of III talk to Graham about a wide range of topics, including Canada Cup, the most recent Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournaments wins, and more. Some of the meatier discussion, however, happens when they touch on the state of Ultra Street Fighter IV compeition, the impact of the Capcom Pro Tour, and the Street Fighter V leaks.

Regarding the lattermost conversaton point, Graham feels sad about these leaks as, to him, they lessen the excitement of waiting for the game. Having been on the other side and worked with clients whose information has been found early, he understands the effects it has on their planning, but also mentions that they are generally unavoidable and companies need to learn to plan around them.

As for Street Fighter V itself, Graham mentions that he likes what he’s seen thus far and is looking forward to every chance he can get to play the game. To him, the style and pace of the game feels closer to the older Street Fighter games than Street Fighter IV.

Sometimes, on the eve of a testing period–however brief that period may be–enterprising Street Fighter V players find themselves able to access the game’s servers before they should be able to, and thus get to try their hand at the latest beta build before anyone else. Early this morning, one such period transpired, and a handful of players were generous enough to put some time to figuring out a little bit more about Laura and the sorts of combos that she brings to the arena.

Below, we’ve included some of these early bits of fighting footage for your enjoyment, courtesy of UltraTien and Hurtbox TV. In addition to raw combo footage, you’ll also find a handful of setup options to sneak in a command throw or two.

PlayStation 4 players, don’t forget: you have this evening’s official stress test to look forward to. More details on the exact time we’ll be allowed to attempt to crush Capcom’s servers stands to be seen, but we do know that it will be some time this evening. There’s still no official word on the availability of this test to PC players.

Earlier this week, Capcom released short clips of several Street Fighter V character themes that we’ll be hearing both at tournaments and from the comfort of our couches for years to come. These bits of music each clock in at around a minute, and are a good way to get a general feel for how Capcom has chosen to handle the remixing of classic themes, as well as the creation of new ones.

Of course, some character, stage, and menu themes didn’t make it onto the preview list. Luckily, when the current beta build went live for a short period earlier today, ADAPT Chance was able to snag footage of the game’s new menu theme as well as the song associated with the Hillside Plaza stage, which you can find below.

This weekend, Nth Gen Interactive will be presenting the third installment of their Revolution tournament series at the Bolney Meadow Community Center.

Revolution 2015 is set to feature a wide array of airdashers, including Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late, Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!, Dengenki Bunko Fighting Climax, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, and Aquapazza. While folks in Europe often receive the short end of the stick when it comes to fighter localization, their dedication persists, and this tournament will be the perfect opportunity to highlight their efforts.

In addition to competition in the aforementioned titles, Revolution 2015 will also feature playable demos of Street Fighter V and Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel for attendees.

All festivities will be broadcast through a single stream, which you’ll find below along with a detailed schedule of events. Feel free to also visit Twitch if you prefer to chat with fellow spectators.

The folks behind Churning the Butter have just gone live with another installment of their weekly tournament series, taking over Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, California to host Ultra Street Fighter IV for local players. Tonight, they will forgo their usual singles format in favor of a team tournament.

Some of the competitors you can expect to see in attendance include Julio, pH|Nando, pH| LPN, Alex Myers, and John Choi, among others

Even with all of the excitement going on in the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 scene–thanks in no small part to recent upsets at Canada Cup and Youmacon–sometimes it’s nice to take things back to the time before TACs, MorriDoom, and, you know, Vergil. Clayton “FINALSHOWDOWN” Chapman decided to do just that in a recent Marvel vs. Capcom 2 combo video dedicated to Hayato, which he notes was a long time in the making.

If you’ve seen Chapman’s work in the past, you know to expect to see some things that you’ve never seen before, and you’ll not be disappointed on that front. The combo video features no assists, just a man, his energy sword, and his meter, slashing down all who oppose him for some fantastically stylish damage output.
