Get the Most Out of Street Fighter V’s Upcoming Beta with Capcom’s Official Schedule

Wednesday is a pretty big day for the fighting game community, as Capcom will be allowing players to try out Street Fighter V from the comfort of their own homes during a second beta test. With a different of characters, including Ken, Necalli, R. Mika, and more, the experience is sure to be fresh and provide new insight into the upcoming game.

But when can you expect everything to launch? To help players plan their days accordingly, Capcom has released an official schedule, noting when the beta will begin, when cast members will become available, and scheduled downtime.

Capcom Shares Their Favorite Moments from Ultra Hyakkishu Cup 2015

Over the weekend, Tokyo, Japan played host to Ultra Hyakkishu Cup, a 128-player Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament that brought out top talent to compete for cash prizes as well as a qualifying spot at Capcom Cup. As they’ve done for plenty of recent tournaments, the folks at Capcom handpicked their top five moments and compiled them in a special video, which we’ve embedded below.

Fresh off his new status as a free agent, Nemo had an impressive showing, taking his twirling baton and satchel of stingers all the way to the grand finals match against Red Bull’s Bonchan. And though he didn’t manage to pull out a victory in the tournament itself, by making it as far as he did, Nemo managed to guarantee a spot in the Capcom Pro Tour.

But there’s plenty more to see besides these two players, including Nishikin’s Blanka and EG|Momochi’s Ken. For full tournament results, you can check out our coverage hub.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds Crowdfund Meets $436,000 Goal

Starting any kind of crowdfunding campaign is a risky proposition, especially when you stand to walk away penniless if you miss your goal. Fortunately, the folks at Mane6 have a ton to celebrate today after recently hitting the $436,000 mark, which means they will be able to bring Them’s Fightin’ Herds to life.

This news comes shortly after the title was approved by Steam through their Greenlight program, giving the indie developers the opportunity to publish their four-legged fighter on the hyper-popular storefront.

But their journey is far from over. The next horizon comes in the form of numerous stretch goals, from porting the game to Mac and Linux to adding a new character to the initial cast. Crossup El Fuerte’s Shower Kick with Balrog’s EX Dash Upper in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Strange, unexpected interactions are some of the most interesting things in fighting games, even in Ultra Street Fighter IV. These allow players to pull off things that that they normally wouldn’t be able to.

In his latest video, Sebastian Rikk demonstrates a strange interaction between El Fuerte’s Shower Kick and Balrog’s EX Dash Upper. When timed just right, the latter will not only go through the overhead, but it will also hit, allowing Balrog to convert the move into a combo.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Console Update Being Considered, Director Says

During a recent tournament, Atlus’ Kazuhisa Wada revealed that they are mulling over the possibility of updating Persona 4 Arena Ultimax on home consoles.

Since January, Persona competitors on consoles have been one major update behind their arcade counterparts. The ver.2.0 patch tweaked the game in a variety of ways, including adjustments to the Shadow cast, auto-combos, and more, in addition to character-specific changes to improve game balance.

Wada, who served as director on Ultimax, is the first Atlus representative to publicly mention the update with regards to consoles, so let’s hope they are closer to making a decision on this overdue issue. We’ll keep you updated as more details become available.

Toushinsai 2015 Streaming Live from Tokyo, Japan

This year TAITO has put together Toushinsai, a major national tournament that operates similar to the Arcadia’s Tougeki of old, though focused on TAITO’s library on NESiCA titles. The event consists of Persona 4 The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold singles, Nitroplus Blasterz singles, BlazBlue Chronophantasma EXTEND 2on2 and Ultra Street Fighter IV 3on3.

If you want to watch some high-level play from Japan across multiple titles, Toushinsai might be worth checking out. The event will be broadcast on Niconico Live.

MLG World Finals 2015 Streaming Live from New Orleans, Louisiana

Major League Gaming is celebrating its 100th event with the 2015 MLG World Finals. In addition to a number of esports titles, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be a part of the event, marking the series’ first appearance at MLG in over a year. Singles competition starts on Saturday with open bracket play then concludes on Sunday with the Top 12 championship bracket.

CEOtaku Streaming Live from Orlando, Florida

This weekend, Alex Jebailey and company are bringing you an “anime” spin-off of Community Effort Orlando. Taking place at the familiar Wyndham Orlando Resort, the aptly named CEOtaku is a love note to the air dashes, Roman Cancels, instant overheads and all the things that make this style of fighting game oh-so-good.
