Rewired Looks to Bring Large-Scale Competition Back to Arizona in November

Despite being home to some exceptional competitors, Arizona has seen a dearth of major tournaments in recent years. Undefeated in the Southwest sought to change that with its sophomore effort earlier this year, and now Rewired 2015 is stepping up to the plate as well.

Organized by Nicholas “Driftwood” Going and Justin “JBVH” Bruce Van Horne, Rewired is looking to put on the largest tournament the state has seen since 2011’s Devastation. While not boasting a lineup comparable to larger American events, they’ve still made the effort to include a wide variety of sub-genres with Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Project M. A side tournament has also been organized for airdasher favorite Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-.

And for those of you looking to earn some dough, there will be over $1000 in pot bonuses spread across the titles listed above.

Rewired 2015 is scheduled for November 14-15 in Tucson, Arizona. More details can be found in the trailer below as well as their official website.

The Daily Dot Talks to NuckleDu During Latest Best of 3 Broadcast

The folks over at The Daily Dot recently sat down with Dang during the most recent episode of Best of 3. In the hour long interview, they go over a myriad of topics, including some strategies for specific matchups, the struggle of trying to make it as a professional gamer, his issues with fellow Guile player Kevin “Dieminion” Landon, and his life goal which, interestingly enough, is to be a social worker helping other people in need.

Additionally, they also go over some of Du’s matches from The Fall Classic, which recently took place in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he almost made it into the top eight before being stopped by the Evil Geniuses duo of Kenneth “K-Brad” Bradley and Ricki Ortiz.

Jay Rego Analyzes Daigo and Momochi’s Ultra Street Fighter IV Grand Finals at Stunfest 2015

When watching high-level competition, it’s easy to get lost in the moment directly following a good play or to miss some of the small pieces that lead up whatever that play may have been. Breaking down these little bits of information is part of what makes watching top players so exciting.

It’s been some time since Stunfest 2015, but Jay Rego just finished his analysis of the second grand finals match between MCZ|Daigo Umehara and EG|Momochi in Ultra Street Fighter IV. This analysis comes as a text overlay across slow motion footage of the fight, with appropriate pauses to show every little bit of information with the reasoning behind them.

Much of what Rego discusses in the breakdown ties back to the topics that he covered in another recent video relating to deception and forcing opponents into certain mental states to catch them unaware–an incredibly important part of any level of serious play.

Rego also includes an interesting breakdown of the number of fireballs and focus attacks used in these first two games of the set, so be sure to check that out at the end of the video as well.

If you’d like to see the first segment of Rego’s analysis, which covers game one between these titans, you can find it here.

Get a Closer Look at Karin’s Moveset in Street Fighter V

As most of you already know, Capcom announced that Karin will be returning in Street Fighter V during a presentation at Tokyo Game Show. But before that took place, the folks over at 4Gamer were able to get a sneak preview at the development offices.

In the footage below, Capcom leads them through the key components of Karin’s moveset, including her expansive V-Trigger, Kanzuki-ryu Guren Kata, which gives her access to a buffed version of her Guren Ken rekka strings from her original appearance in Street Fighter Alpha 3.

While the video is in Japanese, there’s enough on screen that you can see certain properties of certain moves. These include things like her crouching strong punch linking into standing strong punch, her V-Trigger overheard comboing into crouching jab, her Tenko (quarter circle forward kick) juggling into her Critical Art, and more.

Additionally, ClackMan has isolated key moments from Capcom’s own broadcast late last night, highlighting Karin’s normals, spacing, overheads, empty jumps, and more.

Capcom Fighters Network Brings Elaborate Stat Tracking to Street Fighter V

If a brand new Street Fighter V character wasn’t enough to excite you, Karin’s reveal came bundled with an announcement for the Capcom Fighters Network, a set of community-building tools included in the upcoming title’s online infrastructure.

Apart from obvious features like replay saving and match invitations, Capcom Fighters Network will provide players with an extensive “heat map” that highlights battles happening all across the world and minute details about their gameplay.

“As Street Fighter V will be at the forefront of our eSports activities upon release, we wanted to make sure that players had access to all the statistical data possible to help analyze their weaknesses and improve their game,” associate producer Peter “Combofiend” Rosas explains. To do this, Street Fighter V will track intricate stats like how many light punches you landed in a game, your throw tech success, the various ways in which you’ve won matches, and more. “We are confident that players will appreciate this new knowledge and use it to push themselves to the next level and rise above the competition.”

Though still in development, Capcom Fighters Network is already looking to be an incredible feature in Street Fighter V. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Karin’s V-Trigger Opens Up Her Classic Guren Ken Paths in Street Fighter V

After her reveal at Tokyo Game Show, fans were quick to dissect any Karin footage they could get their hands on to figure out what she brings to the table in Street Fighter V. Fortunately, some of the mystery behind this returning character has been dispelled by associate producer Peter “Combofiend” Rosas in his latest PlayStation Blog post.

First off, Karin’s V-Skill, Meioken, sees the young heiress lunge forward for a palm strike, negating projectiles and knocking opponents to the ground. By charging the move, she gains better properties on both hit and block.

Karin’s most noteworthy Alpha technique, the Guren Ken, has transitioned to Street Fighter V as her V-Trigger. Upon activation, she will gain access to a set of attacks that function similarly to Abel’s Change of Direction in Street Fighter IV. Unlike the French mercenary, however, Karin has a ridiculous amount of follow-ups at her disposal that allow her to combo into overheads, sweeps, and throws as well as bait opponents with a quick backdash.

Karin is currently playable at Tokyo Game Show 2015, so stay tuned for further gameplay details as the convention continues.
