Cammy gets the next Crossover Costume in Street Fighter V next week: Fiona from Haunting Ground

Cat-loving Cammy dons an outfit better-known for its association with a white German Shepherd.

This week, the last piece of Rashid’s Air Man Crossover Costume is up for grabs (along with the Monster Hunter outfits for Ken, R. Mika, and Ibuki if you missed them on the first run), and Capcom has now revealed the next costume you’ll be able to earn in Extra Battle mode. Next week (starting August 30th) in Street Fighter V you’ll be able to start earning the pieces for a Crossover Costume for Cammy: Fiona Belli from Haunting Ground.

For those unfamiliar with the (slightly obscure) title, Haunting Ground is a survival-horror game released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 (called Demento in Japan). The player must guide car-crash survivor Fiona and her canine companion Hewie through a mysterious castle, exploring and ultimately seeking escape.

As usual, players will need to earn four costume components through weekly Extra Battle challenges. Watch for the first one next weekend.

Fighting EX Layer version 1.1.0 patch arrives on September 5, nerfs some Gougi decks while buffing anti-airs

During their recent live stream, ARIKA revealed when the next balance patch for Fighting EX Layer would arrive: version 1.1.0 of the game will drop on PlayStation 4 on September 5, 2018.

The patch itself seems to be geared towards addressing the game’s balance, based on what we’ve seen so far in competitive play. Most notably, two of the game’s Gougi decks are being nerfed: Babel and Double Face. The former loses the Meter Power Gougi, to be replaced by an Attack Up Gougi. The latter, on the other hand, has the armor from the Heads/Tails Gougi activate only at 50% or lower health.

In addition to this, anti-airs are being buffed across the board. Prior to this, most players would agree that jump ins in FEXL are a bit too strong… this change should serve to address this!

New Tekken 7 trailer showcases Season 2’s new Wall Bounds

In addition to a bunch of new characters, Tekken 7‘s season two will be bringing with it a new mechanic: Wall Bounds. This mechanic lets player splat their opponents into the wall, allowing for longer combos.

For those wondering how Wall Bounds will look like in Tekken 7, Bandai Namco has just released a new trailer focusing on them. The video below demonstrates a number of Wall Bound extensions that can be done in the game, and even shows how it also works on breakable walls.

Season two of Tekken 7 is set to drop on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox one on September 6.

Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Latin America North Online Dragon Radar event results

The second Online Dragon Radar Event for the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour‘s top 8 has taken place, this time for the region of Northern Latin America. Eligible regions included Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Puerto Rico. A whopping 90 Z-Warriors showed up to compete for right to be flown to the Saga Event of their choosing, so they can attempt to claim one of the five remaining Dragon Balls. Sami “Samifish” Nash and “Based” Jake Ryan provided commentary.

Overwatch fighting game nod “Fighters of the Storm” returns in the new Busan map

Overwatch’s world is expansive as it is gorgeous, and comes complete with its own fighting game — of sorts!

On August 22nd, Overwatch received a new animated short and a brand-new map. Set in Busan, Korea — home to the game’s esports rep D.VA — the map touches on Korea’s traditional and futuristic aspects alike.

Much like the arcade of the Hanamura map, Busan also features a karaoke parlor, arcade, and esports café. In this section of the map are multiple games, including a DDR-esque machine — and the universe’s signature fighting game Fighters of the Storm returns to appear here, as it did in Hanamura.

So far, the game has two iterations: Fighters of the Storm 1 and 2. These games feature characters from throughout Blizzard’s various IPs, such as Garosh Hellscream from World of Warcraft, Tychus Findlay from Starcraft, and Tyrael from Diablo. The game’s title is in reference to Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm MOBA, which likewise features an array of characters from multiple Blizzard titles.

The fighting game isn’t playable within Overwatch, unfortunately — and despite how much interest there would be in a real playable fighter featuring Blizzard characters, there is so far no indication this will actually happen. With the second appearance of the game in Busan’s esports-centric map, however, we can still dream…

Super Smash Con 2018 results

Though Evo 2018 may have concluded a few weeks ago, the Super Smash Bros. community hasn’t stopped their competitive momentum: as shortly afterwards one of the largest Smash tournaments in the country took place in the form of Super Smash Con 2018 in Chantilly, Virginia. With 1,380 players for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, 1,053 entrants for Super Smash Bros. Melee, 260 fighters for Super Smash Bros. 64, and 169 participants for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, on top of Doubles events for all four titles, it was an absolutely massive weekend of Smashing.

IGN’s Gamescom Create-A-Soul interview shows Cervantes’ toolkit in SoulCalibur VI

You may remember that the ESRB rating for SoulCalibur VI accidentally confirmed the existence of Astaroth and Seong Mi-Na long before they were announced. Among the weapons listed in its rating was the “pistol”, which either would refer to a new character or, more probably, the Soul series’ original antagonist: Cervantes de Leon.

Cervantes is such an iconic foe (and unique moveset) that it would be foolish not to include him. But, just in case there was any doubt…

… Bandai Namco’s press conference with IGN showed a Create-A-Soul character dual wielding a very familiar style of blades. Whether this means Cervantes will be announced soon as part of the main roster, or in the Season Pass, remains to be seen. Sadly, there’s not too much to go off of in the above video, as the CAS character was controlled by an AI. His bA auto-GI and 6B have returned in some form, and his old 1B from SCV (6A+B in SCII) is now the second hit of his 4B string. Outside of that, no new moves were shown for his toolkit.

Perhaps that’ll change soon.
