R. Mika Suplexes Her Way into Street Fighter V

After teasing a reveal for the past week, it seems like Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono finally got his wish: R. Mika will be playable in Street Fighter V.

With only one previous appearance courtesy of Street Fighter Alpha 3, R. Mika’s playstyle is still very much open to interpretation, and the developers have added numerous tools to her repertoire in Street Fighter V to set her apart from her debut.

The wrestler’s V-Skill, for instance, let’s her add a little more hype to the match by delivering a blistering promo. The longer the buttons are held down, the stronger she becomes, and a single layer of armor gives her a chance to build up some serious damage.

Activating V-Trigger, on the other hand, allows R. Mika to call on tag-team partner Nadeshiko. Depending on the direction held, Nadeshiko assists with one of three different attacks, setting up “sneaky attacks and punishing command grab mix-ups” that R. Mika can capitalize on.

Be sure to check out the trailer below for a closer look at what R. Mika brings to the table.

Street Fighter V is scheduled to launch sometime in March 2016. R. Mika will be playable at the upcoming PAX Prime convention in Seattle, so stay tuned for more details and gameplay footage.

Learn the Art of Edgeguarding in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

The folks at Rush Hour Smash recently released the fifth video in their Smash Theory series. This newest addition to their tutorial lineup covers everything Super Smash Bros. for Wii U players should be considering when they find themselves in an edgeguarding situation.

The tutorial stresses the importance of keeping in mind the resources that opponents have at their disposal in order to return safely to the stage–things like jumps, counters, air dodges, and attacks that can challenge attempts at edgeguarding. Any player new to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U should be sure to give this video a view.

If you missed the previous Smash Theory videos covering the neutral game, zoning, reads, and doubles strategies, you can check them out by following their respective links.

Burnout Fighter Breaks Down Minor M. Bison Changes, Discusses Vega in Street Fighter V

Recently, Burnout Fighter brought us the first video in a series dedicated to picking apart the subtle changes to character moves in the newest version of Street Fighter V. He began the series, appropriately, with the wandering warrior himself, and continues today with a look at M. Bison.

Like Ryu, the Shadaloo leader did see some (very) minor changes to the moves that he brings to the fight. It seems that his Psycho Inferno–previously a down-to-up charge input–has changed to a quarter circle back input. Additionally, the dictator’s standing fierce now offers a crush counter.

In the second segment of the video, Burnout Fighter is joined by Kyle the Guile, a Vega player from his local scene, who discusses his opinions on the Spanish ninja’s newest iteration. If you’re interested in taking a closer look at this addition to the roster, be sure to check out the full video below.

Mortal Kombat X’s Quan Chi Gains Ridiculous Chip Damage with Double Spell Glitch

Mortal Kombat X is a game that’s been patched quite a bit over its lifespan, for better or worse, but a recent discovery makes a good case for these frequent updates.

During a recent broadcast, brothers Ketchup and Mustard, with the help of their viewers, uncovered a pretty devastating technique for Quan Chi that allows him to place two spells in his Sorcerer variation. Normally, the necromancer has to make do with one, but this glitch opens up some nasty possibilities like double chip damage (leading to a rather easy 100% combo), double armor, and more.

What happens is that players are capable of tricking the game into thinking there are two separate spell timers by using a specific setup to get the ball rolling. After that, pretty much anything goes, as Ketchup aptly describes in the video below.

While it does take a bit of time and planning, both players believe there are viable strategies to utilize this glitch properly. To prove this, they also released a highlight reel of the ways they were able to pull it off in online matches.
