Catch Blazblue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late Side Tournament Replays from Evo 2015

Evolution 2015 included a massive lineup of competitive fighting titles, and gave every subdivision of this genre that we love at least some degree of recognition as part of the main event. As massive as that lineup may have been, it’s impossible to give every popular game its time to shine. Luckily, dedicated fans always show devotion to their titles of choice by running side tournaments if their game doesn’t make the cut.

This year, two of the games featured in this way were Blazblue: Chronophantasma EXTEND and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late. Below, we’ve embedded four videos for a total of roughly ten hours of matches in these titles. Give them a watch if you missed out on AnimEvo’s live streams during the busy weekend.

Vega and Necalli Sharpen Their Claws in Early Street Fighter V Gameplay Footage from Gamescom

Vega’s Street Fighter V inclusion may have only been revealed two short days ago, but we’ve already learned a good deal about what the high flying Spaniard will be bringing to the fight. Thanks to Gamescom 2015, fans have been able to wield the claw themselves to get a feel for the fighter’s current motion-based controls.

Below, we’ve included three match videos, two of which feature Vega bouncing off walls like we’re used to seeing, and one featuring another recent roster addition: Necalli. Footage surrounding this feral fighter has itself been limited, so be sure to check out that match as well. Initial viewings show proof that Necalli’s hair looks fantastic at all times, but never quite so fantastic as when it catches the air just right when he goes in for a dive kick.

Do note that these matches are far from tournament level, but since this is such an early look at these two characters, there’s plenty to glean from the footage. This is likely not the only batch of matches that we’ll be seeing from Gamescom 2015, so be sure to stay tuned for more.

Rash’s Killer Instinct Trailer Hints at Another Upcoming Character

Killer Instinct Season 3’s first new character, Rash from Battletoads, is currently playable as part of a beta test for the next season. However, he’s not the only fighter joining the roster in the upcoming round of content.

Microsoft recently released a copy of the debut trailer for Rash that they showed at their Gamescom press briefing, with a little something extra at the end – a short glimpse of a set of nun-chucks.

Longtime Killer Instinct fans will most likely recognize this as the signature weapon of Killer Instinct 2’s Kim Wu. Alongside Tusk and the bosses Eyedol and Gargos, Kim is one of the remaining characters from the original games who has yet to appear in Microsoft’s reboot for the Xbox One.

Does this mean that we’ll finally get to see her in the new game? Only time will tell. In the meantime, check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Capcom Gives Vega Motion Inputs in Street Fighter V, Combofiend: “It’s not final by any means.”

Earlier today, the official Street Fighter account on Twitter sent out a rather interesting message concerning the latest character to be revealed in Street Fighter V, Vega. While typically a charge character, the tweet in question revealed that the Spanish ninja will instead control with motion inputs.

The developers have made similar changes to other characters in Street Fighter V, such as removing the piano inputs on Chun-Li’s Hyakuretsukyaku (Lightning Leg) in favor of a quarter-circle, but the idea of Vega being altered so drastically piqued our interests. Could it be possible that one of his stances would retain the usual charge motions while the other took on this altered control scheme?

Seeing as these questions weren’t answered by other reports, we contacted Capcom community manager and Street Fighter V associate producer Peter “Combofiend” Rosas for clarification. “We’re just testing him out without charge motions at this moment in time,” he explained. “It’s not final by any means. If it’s a good fit, it may stay. If it’s too strong, it could go. We were just giving players a heads up so they’re not in utter shock when they use him at Gamescom.”

With Capcom’s added emphasis on offensive play in Street Fighter V, it’s no surprise that these changes have been made, as charge characters tend to be played rather defensively due to their controls. Now let’s see if this particular adjustments sticks.

But for those who prefer to back these sorts of things up with hard facts, the folks at Twitch have provided detailed stats concerning viewership.

In fact, all factors, from concurrent numbers to total views, grew from Evo 2014, breaking even the lofty goals set by its predecessors.
