After a long day of grueling work, the organizers behind this year’s Evolution Championship Series are ready to present their first public draft of pool assignments. With around 7000 unique competitors, there’s a lot to take in here, and they are going to need help from the community to make sure the early brackets are as fair as they can be.

At this point in time, all games are ready to be reviewed with the exception of Tekken 7, pools for which will be ready sometime next week. If you’re only interested in where you landed personally or want to see where your favorite competitor is placed at the moment, you can make use of the helpful player search.

Please note that nothing you see here is final. Should you come across something egregious that you want to point out to the Evo organizers, be sure to use the ‘Send Feedback’ button at the bottom right-hand corner of each pool’s respective page to do just that. Brackets will be finalized after a brief review period, so get your feedback in as soon as possible.

With a tournament series as expanded as this year’s Capcom Pro Tour, it’s pretty incredible that the powers that be have been able to keep everything on track over the past few months. One upcoming tournament, however, has been switched out for another.

According to new details released by Capcom, “unforeseen circumstances” have forced them to remove Gigacon from the circuit. Fortunately, they have decided to keep Norway in the loop by adding The Call of Ragnarok to the proceedings. This new event will take place a week before Gigacon during the weekend of September 26.

While the United States will be celebrating its Independence Day on July 4, TOPANGA of Japan is set to host one of the largest fighting game charity events in history. Continuing since its inception in 2011 in response to the Tohoku earthquake, the 5th TOPANGA Charity CUP is an Ultra Street Fighter IV 5-on-5 team tournament focused on giving back to society. The full sum of entry fees and contributions will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

And this tournament will be huge. Over 150 full teams are currently registered, packed with familiar names like Mad Catz’ Daigo Umehara, HORI’s sako, and Kazunoko, along with a few international stars such as Evil Geniuses’ Justin Wong, Falcon Arena’s Ryan Hart, and INFILTRATION. Below is the current team entry list, with notable teams listed in bold.

Tune into both Niconico Live channels this Saturday (or Friday evening, depending on your time zone) for one of the biggest Street Fighter team events ever.

Remember the teaser images Arc System Works tweeted out over the last week hinting at a new fighter coming to Steam? Well, the developer has just launched a new website revealing the title to be none other than Battle Fantasia, confirming it will be making its way to PC on July 7.

Battle Fantasia is a quirky game that arrived in arcades back in 2007 before appearing on consoles a year later. Emiko Iwasaki headed development of the game after working as an illustrator on the Guilty Gear series, and created her own unique take on the genre. Pulling heavy inspiration from fantasty roleplaying titles, Battle Fantasia uses 3D models and small touches like floating damage numbers to set itself apart from its peers, as well as being more simple and streamlined while retaining a faster pace the developer is known for.

Now that Battle Fantasia is moving to the more modern space of PC gaming, the folks over at Arc System Works want to do a little more than just a straight port. As you’ll see in the galleries below, Revised Edition’s visual fidelity has definitely seen a noticeable upgrade, with certain animations and effects being updated entirely. You can also expect the game to employ delay-based netcode.

If you haven’t checked this one out, it’s a pretty neat and distinguishable niche title, and we’d recommend keeping an eye on it when it comes to Steam next week.

If you count yourself among the (probably rather limited) group of western players who enjoy BlazBlue but don’t go in for the whole ‘importing’ thing, you’re in luck! BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND made landfall in North America today.

With versions for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND adds two previously arcade-exclusive characters in Celica A. Mercury and Lambda-11, updates to the overall gameplay mechanics, new chapters for the story mode, and more. It originally launched in Japan on April 23.

Apart from being great news to American players in general, this release also marks the franchise’s return to Microsoft’s console line, which last saw BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND find its way to Xbox 360 in 2010.

BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND is currently available at a price of $49.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One or $39.99 on PlayStation 3 if you prefer the older platform.
