UPDATE (10:37 AM PDT) – According to NetherRealm Studios’ Paulo Garcia, the developers have known about this issue for some time and will be patching it out in the next major update. He also stated that the Ermac meter drain bug we reported on yesterday should be hotfixed out of the game sometime today.
Special thanks go out to thisguywhoisnotimportant for making us aware of this in the comments.
Glitches on glitches on glitches.
Although Mortal Kombat X recently saw extensive fixing with its most recent patch, some new problems have arisen with another veteran fighter. Apparently, if Kung Lao performs a teleport on wakeup, he gains a full bar of meter, an issue very similar to a corrected Ermac bug. This time around, however, the glitch isn’t confined to a single variation.
Of course, this also comes with its own unique situations due to its rather unsafe nature. Sure, you get a free bar of meter, but if your opponent happens to be waiting for the teleport, they can easily punish with their highest-damage combo. Then again, the extra resources can instantly give a crafty Kung Lao access to a breaker, making this hypothetical combo all for naught should it connect.
In any case, it’s apparent that this was more than likely not meant to be in the game, and it remains to be seen what NetherRealm Studios intends to do about it, as their hotfix system gives them the ability to address bugs like this on a regular basis. But with Combo Breaker hosted in Chicago this weekend and an additional $10,000 on the line, it’s going to be hard to find a winning strategy that makes everyone happy.
