Thanks to a screenshot that might have been released earlier than intended, we know Kenshi will appear in Mortal Kombat X. Unfortunately, that’s about all we know, and there still hasn’t been confirmation that the swordsman will be playable outside of the mobile port.
Earlier today, DroidGamers shared a report from their visit to Game Developers Conference 2015, which included sit-down time with the Android version of this upcoming fighter. While their details provide a ton of insight into how the title will play, what really caught our eye was a highlight reel of gameplay footage, showing off characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kotal Kahn as they destroy each other on the handheld screen.
This video carries the briefest bit of Kenshi gameplay possible while still being noticeable among the guts and gore. Similar to the aforementioned screenshot, the Mortal Kombat veteran can be seen utilizing a variation dubbed Possessed. This fighting style seems to allow the blind combatant to transform into a hovering, scythe-wielding warrior (perhaps one of the many canonically contained within his sword), but little else is showcased before his opponent’s onslaught begins anew.
The segment in question begins at the 1:24 mark in the video below. Be warned, as this is still a Mortal Kombat game, there’s a copious amount of violence.
If you prefer an animated image to watch over and over again instead of continuously adjusting the video, we’ve put one of those together for you as well. Feel free to share!
Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to land on home consoles on April 14, with the mobile version arriving sometime that same month.
