Ultra Street Fighter IV Omega Mode Roundup feat. Raging Demon Combos, AVM|GamerBee’s Adon Breakdown, and More

Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Omega Mode hasn’t even been in the hands of players for a full twenty-four hours yet and we’ve already seen some amazing technology popping up all over the internet. Below, you’ll find a collection of some of the best videos from the community’s foray into this new, unexplored world.

Joutai wasted no time this morning and got right into training mode to see what kind of new goodies they could find. This quick clip features combos from M. Bison, Akuma, Oni, Yang, Guy, and Ken, each making use of some of the new toys that they got as part of the version select. The new Guy combos definitely take the cake for style factor–that teleport is way too cool.

And if you’re like me, you’ll enjoy the soundtrack. This is our war, after all. Street Fighter IV.

Up next we’ve got another combo video that features a handful of cast members. JusticeSoulTuna took Ryu, Juri, Yun, Rose, and Decapre to the lab to find some impressive day one strings for the fighters. Get ready to see plenty of juggles that you’ve definitely never seen before.

YoraiDragon spent some time in training mode with Omega’s Makoto and Ibuki to test out some of the properties of their new specials like Makoto’s headbutt and Ibuki’s ground-based kunai, which mimics her super from Street Fighter III. The resulting combos not only look flashy, but they do some fantastic damage too.

Pr0Fluke hit the ring as El Fuerte to see what kind of new goodies they could cook up. The resulting combos involve exactly the kind of high-flying action that we’ve come to expect from the luchador. The video also takes the time to show off some new mix-up options that Fuerte has access to thanks to his EX Run.

It’s fun to see top players take a stab at things like Omega Mode. This footage features just that, as AVMerMedia’s GamerBee takes a close look at Adon’s updated tools. He explores things like the advantages of instant air Jaguar Kick and some easy day one combos that aspiring Omega Adon players should definitely check out.

On days like today, it’s easy to find small, undocumented changes to our favorite characters. Sometimes, though, we might find much larger changes that also went without mention, like Akuma being able to combo into his Raging Demon super. This technology has obviously not been fully explored yet, but it has been confirmed to only work with the super combo version–no Ultra demons here.

For full details, check out the video below.

This was bound to happen. As soon we knew that some characters in Omega would be able to parry, everyone’s mind went straight to Evo Moment #37. So here it is: theheartofbattle’s take on that classic moment.

Updated Ultra Street Fighter IV Priorities Lead to Fresh Uses for Decapre’s Anti-Air DCM

Today’s Ultra Street Fighter IV update brought with it a variety of changes to the game’s cast, especially newcomers like Decapre. In addition to increased invulnerability for all versions of Psycho Sting and the added cancel routes to her crouching fierce, one interesting adjustment gives the Bison Doll a few new ways to combo into her Ultra 2.

DCM, which has both anti-ground and anti-air versions, now defaults to the latter if the inputs overlap. This provides a much quicker way to perform during combos, therefore leading to additional opportunities to land it.

In the video below, Saki runs through some of these situations, making a strong case for the change’s usefulness. Check it out and see what you can pick up.

Pick Up Some New Combos for T. Hawk, Ryu, and E. Honda in Post-Patch Ultra Street Fighter IV

As the community is often wont to do after a major update, many folks have taken to Ultra Street Fighter IV ver.1.04 to see what’s new with their favorite characters.

One such person is, of course, combo master Desk, who recently uploaded a quick video to show off what he’s discovered for three specific characters. If you happen to play T. Hawk, Ryu, or E. Honda (or just worried about playing them post-patch), check out the demonstration below for a look at the new types of pain they can dish out.

Bafael Explores Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Elena

Elena’s Ultra Street Fighter IV iteration isn’t exactly the most intuitive character to just pick up and play. Even veterans of the genre may scratch their heads at how floaty and awkward her jump feels, how unusual some of her buttons are, and how incredibly high her execution ceiling can be. That said, she does make up for some of these negatives with an incredibly long 3-frame jab, a hurtbox that can be difficult to land a hit on, and one of the most unique Ultra combos in the game.

Knowing when to use these tools can be just as difficult as learning how to properly angle her jump-ins, but luckily Bafael has taken the time to break this character down in the same fashion that he’s done with five other members of the cast. In this lengthy tutorial (which he refers to as his magnum opus), Bafael covers everything you’ll need to know to make this sometimes whacky tool kit work for you: mid-combo healing, trade Ultras, kara throws, and pretty much anything else you could want to know.

If you enjoy this style of tutorial video, Bafael has released tons of other content ranging from character tutorials to mechanics breakdowns. Follow this link to check them out!

Riptor Claws Her Way Back Into Killer Instinct with Familiar Moveset

killerinstinctone-riptor-screen-3-622-crop

This morning has seen a flurry of information released for Killer Instinct’s upcoming second season character Riptor, and for good reason. As a returning fighter from previous installments, she represents both the history of the popular franchise as well as how it has moved forward on Xbox One.

In addition to the announcement trailer, a few more details were released courtesy of an interview GameSpot held with key Microsoft Studios employees as well as a live broadcast the developers (still going strong here), both of which provided a clearer look at Riptor’s fighting style that may not have been expressed as well in the short reveal.

One of the main points the developer seem to want folks to know about Riptor is that much of her moveset from older titles has been carried to the reboot, including attacks like her tail flip, fire breath, and jumping rake–but that doesn’t mean she still hasn’t seen some modification. “Arguably, she’s easier to play,” creative director Adam Isgreen mentioned during his interview with GameSpot. “That was a big goal of ours, to make sure that she’s intuitive, that you can get into it and get a lot done without needing a lot of technical skills.

“She can literally go heavy punch, heavy punch, heavy punch, and then go with an ender and get a combo out of it.”

While the aforementioned interview focused a lot more on the story details that allow Riptor to return to the Killer Instinct universe, this afternoon’s live stream gave a much closer look at the raptor’s extensive movelist.

This time around, Riptor has two dedicated buttons for certain attacks–heavy punches will always involve fire and heavy kicks will always incorporate her tail. Furthermore, all of her attacks can be canceled into another move which, paired with the expanded toolset she’s given during forward run, backward run, her unique Predator stance, and more, provides the cybernetic weapon a ton of versatility no matter the situation.

We’ve included an archive of Microsoft’s stream below, so be sure to check that out for more information on how Riptor will play when she joins the cast on December 17.

ArmchairTitan Takes Impracticality to a New Level with Ryu and Ken in Ultra Street Fighter IV

It’s been a while since we last heard from ArmchairTitan, but to make up for the absence, their most recent impractical Ultra Street Fighter IV combo video is a double feature showcasing Ryu and Ken.

These two fighters are known for plenty of things around the fighting game community, but flashy combos don’t usually make it onto that list. As you might expect, there are some character-specific strings, some ridiculous juggle scenarios, and all sorts of other happenings that will never make it out of the training room.

As always, ArmchairTitan combines these combos with a particularly potent blend of comedy and fantastic editing to make a video that entertains like no other combo videos can.

Need some more impractical combos in your life? Check out ArmchairTitan’s videos for Seth, Cody, Oni, and Dudley by following their respective links.

Microsoft Studios Providing Live Look at Killer Instinct’s Riptor

Earlier this morning, a very special reveal trailer was released for Killer Instinct’s Riptor. Like many videos of its kind, however, it didn’t provide a whole lot of information about how the upcoming character will play.

Fortunately, Microsoft Studios has gone live with a special broadcast dedicated to the bionic dinosaur and her primeval moveset. If you’re interested in seeing what she is capable of ahead of her release later this week, be sure to tune in live below.

Just Defends? Stance Properties? LI Joe Breaks Down Street Fighter V’s First Live Match

Street Fighter V’s first match ever this weekend between Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas and Twitch’s Mike Ross left us with just enough gameplay to start to see just how different the game is from its predecessor. For those who’d like to hear another competitive player’s impressions of the game, Joe “LI Joe” Ciaramelli has provide an in-depth analysis of the specific mechanics he noticed.

Joe’s breakdown covers a few things that some folks might have missed, including small details like the change in the angle of  Ryu’s air Tatsumaki, the massive hitstun doled out by counter-hits (something that Joe predicts will really be important in the game), the multi-hit property on some of Ryu’s Hadoukens, and the unique blocking mechanic that seems similar to the Just Defend technique seen in Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Check out the video below and see if he’s covered anything else that you may have missed.

Killer Instinct’s Riptor Returns in Reveal Trailer

While fans won’t be able to get their hands on her until later this week, Killer Instinct’s Riptor has finally been revealed in a brand new trailer. We don’t want to spoil too much of what the commerci–ahem, gameplay video entails, but it does offer a great look at what this blast from the past is capable of in the rebooted title, as well as a teaser for season two’s next fighter.

You can expect to see more of Riptor during a Microsoft Studios broadcast later today, so stay tuned.

Riptor will be available this Wednesday, December 17, for Ultra Edition owners, with a wider release planned for December 23.
