MCZ|Daigo Umehara, RZR|Xian, RZR|Gackt, Poongko, and More Help Close Out Capcom Pro Tour Asia

As a tournament made up of the top two players from four previous qualifiers, Capcom Pro Tour Asia’s grand finals event was guaranteed to provided a show to fighting game fans across the world, and the eight competitors who congregated in Singapore last month did not disappoint.

While Mad Catz’ Daigo Umehara would go on to win the whole thing, his fellow finalists Xian and Gackt of Razer, Poongko, Canada Cup Gaming’s Humanbomb, GamerBee of AVerMedia, Leslie, and Dark Jiewa all played their hearts out in an effort to take one of Capcom Cup’s last automatic qualifying spots. And, due to the round-robin format, we were able to see quite a few interesting matchups that aren’t normally put on display at this high of a level.

The folks over at Capcom Fighters recently released replays of the festivities online, some of which you’ll find below. If you’re interested in checking out more, be sure to head on over to their official channel.

There should be quite a few more archived matches coming in the near future, so stay tuned!

Century-Long Bans Being Handed Out in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS

ssb4-3ds-mariokirby-622-crop

With online play quickly becoming a must for any game touting multiplayer options, these arenas can quickly become less than entertaining if folks choose to quit a game early due to losing, inappropriately modify their game, or otherwise ruin the experience of their fellow competitors. Developers are quickly inserting precautions that either keep these issues from coming up or punishing those that would abuse workarounds for petty or malicious reasons.

In Super Smash Bros. for 3DS (as well as its upcoming console sibling), Nintendo has implemented systems that lay down temporary bans from online play for a number of infractions, including going idle on a regular basis, targeting a single player repeatedly, and more. While certainly noble, issues have begun to rear their ugly heads and impact the service.

Reports began to appear over the weekend that players were heading online, only to find that they had been banned from netplay for 71,582,459 minutes, which rounds out to just over 136 years. Though obviously a bug, little information could be gleaned as to why this issue was occurring. One popular opinion has to do with the way the game processes the numbers associated with a ban in the first place, but nothing concrete has been established.

Fortunately, it appears as if this glitch is already being corrected. A fan on Twitter who was previously afflicted with this lengthy timeout has since found his account restored and able to play online, so it’s possible Nintendo has already figured out a way to fix this problem.

A similar banning bug, involving Princess Peach using her turnip special in online modes that don’t allow items, surfaced some time back and was fixed by Nintendo, who issued an apology soon after. Let’s hope this is corrected just as quickly.

Have you ran into this issue while playing online? Feel free to sound off in our comments.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Combo Roundup feat. Spider-Man Loops, Hilarious Super-Skrull Tech, and More

Today we’ve got another collection of short combo videos for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. These clips each contain a single combo for some vastly different teams. Let’s get started!

The first combo, from Broshadian, will change the way that you look at Spider-Man. When Peter Parker teams up with Rocket Raccoon and Deadpool, the Web Throws just keep coming until even the heartiest health bars are drained. It’s damaging, it’s fun to watch, and I don’t even want to think about how frustrating it would be to fall victim to.

Next up, The FatTreeWizard shows off some interesting tech when Super-Skrull buddies up with Amaterasu. It seems that after Ammy has thoroughly slowed things down, Kl’rt can repeatedly cram a boot into his opponents face for one of the most disrespectful loops in the galaxy. It’s the perfect way to close out any match!

To round things out, we’ve got a couple of videos from Eldon Moore that involve Chun-Li leading two very different groups of fighters into the fray. The first puts her with Rocket Raccoon and Dante to deliver an incredible 1.1 million damage before the blows stop coming.

The second manages to reach the same damage total, but this time Chun finds herself hanging out with Dormammu and Shuma-Gorath. Certainly an unlikely team, but not one to take lightly.

Venom47 Provides Another Collection of Impractical Ultra Street Fighter IV Combos

Venom47 is back with another round of impractical Ultra Street Fighter IV combos for your viewing pleasure. As with previous installments to this series, most of the combos will never make it out of the training room, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t fun to watch unfold.

As has become standard in all training mode-only combo videos, Decapre’s Psycho Stream makes multiple appearances and for once Dhalsim takes a crack at dishing out some damage while punching that purple ball of plasma. He may not be fast, but his long limbs keep him popping out fierces until the energy ball eventually dissipates.

Venom47 also included a handful of hitbox and hurtbox oddities that give us yet another look at what we already know: sometimes some weird stuff goes on when Hugo gets involved.

Olympic Gaming Showcases ShiiNe’s Yang in Their Latest Ultra Street Fighter IV Spotlight

While Yun is considered by many to be the best character in Ultra Street Fighter IV, some folks tend to forget that his brother Yang also received a good number of buffs. While he was considered to have been “over-nerfed” in the previous version of the game, in Ultra, Yang is now once again a threat in the hands of the right players.

One such player is ShiiNe of FNEX, who is the subject of the latest edition of Olympic Gaming’s Spotlight series. In the footage provided, Olympic highlights some of ShiiNe’s matches using Yang (as well as his Gouken) against players such as Wolfkrone, Tampa Bison, TBR Sensei, and more.

In addition to this, Olympic Gaming also did a short interview with ShiiNe which you can find in the video’s description. In it, ShiiNe discusses his history with the game, why he switched from pad to stick, where his handle comes from, and more.

JD Explores the Possibilities of Yun’s Chained Kara-Tenshin in Ultra Street Fighter IV

One of the things that few people know about Yun in Ultra Street Fighter IV is that when he chains into a standing or crouching short kick, he can kara-cancel the startup of that kick into his Zenpou Tenshin side-switch command grab. Originally discovered by long time Street Fighter veteran Ed Ma, it allows Yun to pressure opponents and then get the command grab just like Zangief or ver. 2012 Fei Long.

JD recently put together a video showing off how players can take advantage of this useful technique as the first entry of his new “Yun Cheap Stuff” series. In the footage below, he demonstrates how to pull this off from both chained standing and crouched shorts. Take note that the latter, while better against players who mash up-back to jump, is easier to spam out of unless Yun uses meter for an EX Zenpou Tenshin.
