With the promise (or threat, depending upon what character you play) of a new Dragon Ball FighterZbalance patch on the horizon, its important to pay close attention to what new tech comes out near the end of the current version. After all, if new tech is found now, how likely is it to slip through to the next patch?
Case in point — Y. Xiao‘s latest CMV for Android 21. This character’s damage potential has been good since day one, but Y. Xiao‘s use of stolen moves to create loops is some next-level flash. Although it’s somewhat terrifying for its ability to allow switch-less touch-of-death combos, we hope this incredible (and situational) combo utility survives the update.
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is arriving at the end of this month, and Capcom wants to help remind you of the games in which this storied franchise took its first steps — or threw its first Hadouken, for that matter. Check out their first entry in their “30th Anniversary Retrospective Series”, taking a closer look at the titles that started it all: Street Fighter, and the Street Fighter II & Super Street Fighter II series. Get ready for a hard-hitting blast of nostalgia! (And you might recognize a familiar voice on narration.)

Ladies & Gentlen, I Just want to say I'm back on @ELEAGUETV Invitational THIS YEAR! It's a true blessing! Words can't describe it! But stay tuned to watch me take people to #duffcity WITH THE GREATEST OF EASE! pic.twitter.com/HcM9I3KSyY
That puts us at 22 out of 24 competitors for the event at the time of this writing; we need two more yet, and since a spot is reserved for the winner of ELEAGUE’s SFV reality show project ELEAGUE The Challenger: Street Fighter V, we can expect one other will surface soon aside from that. Two players have already been eliminated from the chance at a spot at the Invitational in the first two episodes of ELEAGUE The Challenger: Street Fighter V — LowTierGod and Sherry Jenix.
The ELEAGUE Street Fighter V Invitational will be broadcast on both Twitch and TBS beginning on Friday, June 1, starting with Group A at 3:00 PM ET (Noon PT), at twitch.tv/ELEAGUETV, before the TBS broadcast at 11:00 PM ET (8:00 PM PT.)
Following up on their Juri and Cammy figures, Kinetiquettes is now ready to unveil the final figure of their Femme Fatales series for Street Fighter. The “Strongest Woman in the World”, Chun-Li joins the fray with a new figure that’s currently available for pre-order.
The Kinetiquettes Femme Fatale figure for Chun-Li sees her ready to strike with her iconic Kikosho super, while rocking her classic costume. The statue itself is packed chock-full of small details, including the embroidery on her sash, as first seen in Street Fighter V.
When joined together with Juri and Cammy’s figures, this three will form a complete diorama based that recreates their epic fight from Super Street Fighter IV‘s introduction sequence.
For those interested in picking this figure up, it’s now available for pre-order for a single payment of $369, or for three monthly installments of $123 per month.
It seems that a new glitch has been discovered in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. The glitch in question reverses the inputs of select characters, in certain conditions.
In a recent video, Loic “WydD” Petit — the developer behind the sfvism tool that lets players access data such as hit boxes — demonstrates the glitch in action, and gives an explanation of why it occurs.
Now, the video below focuses primarily on Rashid. However, the cause of the bug itself is actually a flag added to one of Alex’s moves in Arcade Edition. As such, any other moves with the same flag can suffer from the same glitch. So far, in addition to Alex and Rashid, it seems that Juri is also affected by the bug.
Here’s hoping that this glitch is addressed by Capcom sooner, rather than later!
Revealed early via datamining a recent patch, Capcom has now confirmed that M. Bison will be next to receive a Crossover Costume via Extra Battle mode in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Soon, you’ll be able to dress up the dictator as the Demon Lord Astaroth from Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Some history from the Capcom-Unity post:
Appearing in Ghosts ‘n Goblins (1985) and its sequels, Astaroth is the main antagonist to the chivalrous knight, Arthur. He is a demon lord and the ruler of the Demon Realm Village, which is a world inhabited by evil creatures. Astaroth has two faces, the primary one on his head and a secondary one on his abdomen. He can breathe fire through both of his faces to scorch enemies to a crisp. He’s also a master illusionist and can create mirages such as creating clones of himself. With clones and evil in mind, M. Bison is undoubtedly the best character to don the Astaroth Crossover Costume!
As per usual, you need to complete four Extra Battle challenge events during timed windows to get the costume. Each attempt costs 2500 Fight Money, so you’ll need at least 10,000 FM total to get the outfit — provided you beat Astaroth-Bison first time, every time. The CPU tends to get a bit tougher each challenge. Here’s the schedule for the Astaroth costume challenges:
M. Bison is fittingly bringing more Golden Shadaloo Soldiers along with him; take note of when you can play these limited challenges to ensure you don’t miss your chance at more Fight Money or EXP.
Guile is also finishing up his Nameless Super Soldier Crossover Costume this coming week, so hopefully you’ve got the first three pieces!
Cross Fate with these new screenshots and gameplay clips of the reported final build!
Now that May has begun, we’re less than a month away from the Japanese release of Arc System Works’ four-way crossover BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. As such, many gaming media outlets in the Land of the Rising Sun got some hands-on time with what is reportedly the final build of the game, providing us with a massive collection of screenshots from a variety of game modes, as well as a few quick matches.
Most notably, we can see that the game’s 20 DLC characters — such as Under Night In-Birth’s Carmine Prime (who will be included in Cross Character Pack 2), Persona 4 Arena’s Naoto Shirogane (part of Cross Character Pack 3) and RWBY’s Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long — will have roles to play in the game’s Episode Mode, appearing in various chapters of each of the four atory arcs, though it remains to be seen if they can be fought-against or played-as during the narrative.
We also get a look at the game’s menus, which can be accessed from a Lobby setting that is extremely reminiscent of Dragon Ball FighterZ, as well as the ChibiKaka Shop, where players will be able to purchase items like Lobby Avatars with in-game currency, complete with a Customize menu.
In one screenshot, Linne performs what appears to be her Infinite Worth EXS, Kannagi – Homura Issen, seeming to confirm that these attacks will be repurposed as Astral Skills for the UNIB cast. We also see a glimpse at a pair of new stages: the Forbidden Gate from Central Fiction, and what appears to be an updated version of the Sealed Space from Chronophantasma.
Finally, gamernejp has uploaded some new gameplay clips, featuring a full match with Hyde Kido and Chie Satonaka battling Ruby Rose and Es, as well quick combos from Nu-13, Yu Narukami, and Ragna The Bloodge punishing an incoming Ruby after Weiss Schnee attempts a Crash Assault in Tactics Mode. You can view everything below.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam in Japan on Thrusday, May 31st, with a North American release following on the same platforms on June 5th. A European PS4 and Switch release is scheduled for this summer. The online beta for North America and Japan begins next Wednesday, May 9th.
As we all know by now, series veteran Taki is returning to SoulCalibur VI. Now, for those looking to see more of the the series’ resident ninja, Bandai Namco have released new screenshots, as well as the official art for Taki in SoulCalibur VI.
The screenshots in the gallery below give us a closer look at the subtle changes to Taki’s look (including a new open-mouthed face mask). They also show more of the new glowing symbols she exhibits in a number of moves — something that’s most likely tied to the new systems that are being added into the game.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition has only been out for a few months, but the community had been voicing strong opinions about various characters’ Season 3 changes; in light of this, Capcom released a mid-season balance patch which sought to address some of the most common complaints about the game’s engine, and the characters in question. This patch also includes various small balance changes to every character. Because of this, I’m preparing a series of videos on ShoryukenTube showing off the most important gameplay adjustments on a per-character basis.
Continuing from my last twoposts, this week covers the first season of DLC: Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien, as well as Akuma, the first character from the second season. I include Akuma because he’s a returning character — and also to split the remaining characters into seven and seven, so my next post will include the remaining characters from Season 2 as well as Season 3’s Sakura and Blanka.
If you missed the previous videos, check them out here:
We’re in the home stretch now, I should finish all remaining characters in the coming week. Keep an eye out on the ShoryukenTube YouTube channel so you don’t miss out!
