NGage Esports to build Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas

Jonathon “Panda” Oudthone, president of NGage Esports and the “Panda” behind Panda x Gaming, dropped a huge announcement yesterday that could dramatically change the Texas FGC scene’s future.

The city of Arlington — which is just outside Dallas — will be working with NGage Esports to open a new esports-dedicated stadium for the city. Given its location near Dallas and Panda’s ties to several major FGC events around the country, this is huge news for any FGC TO in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Keep your eyes on Arlington, and let’s see how it develops!

The Witcher protagonist — Geralt of Rivia — officially joins the SoulCalibur VI roster

The White Wolf combines might and magic to fell any foe.

Bandai Namco confirms previous rumors with the announcement of Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher coming to SoulCalibur VI as the title’s guest character. The modern gaming icon fits perfectly with the rest of the SoulCalibur cast thanks to his historic design — and acerbic attitude.

Geralt will be available on all platforms, no console exclusivity here! Players will get to transcend history and the world as Geralt and the rest of the SoulCalibur VI cast on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.

This video compilation highlights amazing moments from 17 years of Capcom vs. SNK play

Ready for a trip down memory lane? There’s no better fighting game series for that than the beloved Capcom vs. SNK. In case nothing today reminded you of how old you are, the first game is nearly 20 years old already… LiangHuBBB created a great compilation showcasing lots of hype moments that the game brought over its lifetime.

The reel covers a wide swath of sources, from Japanese to American. There’s a lot of footage from Game Spot Versus, like an amazing Gouki perfect victory and Geese Howard touch-of-death combos. The compilation includes moments from EG|NYChrisG and Bas, which took place at Combo Breaker 2017. At the same event, Alex Jebailey faced Echo Fox|Justin Wong in a memorable match, which is shown around 6:20.

Beefy Smash Doods break down Rivals of Aether’s incoming DLC character, Sylvanos

Popular Smash YouTubers Beefy Smash Doods have turned their focus back to Rivals of Aether content, just in time to prep viewers for the release of Sylvanos. This new DLC character is expected to arrive at the beginning of next month, and as you can see from the early beta build of this character, his diverse moveset may change the RoA tournament landscape permanently.

The constant flora trailing Sylvanos’s every step allows him to exert stage control in an innovative and threatening way. His various options, combined with some truly massive hitboxes, make this new Forest God a force to be reckoned with.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will be playable at Final Round 2018 this weekend

The community will soon get a chance to try this new collection for ourselves!

First announced back in December 2017, Capcom is looking to mark 30 years of Street Fighter with the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, which will bring all of the Street Fighter titles seen above to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC sometime in May 2018 — and some will include new netplay features.

Naturally, how true these new ports are to the original arcade releases is what everyone in the FGC is wondering — and the community will get the chance to see for themselves this weekend, as Capcom plans to bring a playable version of the game to Final Round 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.

We’ll soon know if these games are indeed “arcade perfect” or not! If you’re heading to Final Round, keep your eyes peeled for a shot to try for yourself; if not, you can definitely expect to see some hands-on impressions from attendees on social media this weekend.

Darth Arma shares further anti-Michelangelo lessons for Injustice 2

Some time back, we shared a video from Darth Arma where he offered some lessons on how to fight the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s Michelangelo in Injustice 2. Now, he’s back with another video tutorial showing off more stuff to help players deal with said character.

Now, his original tutorial was catered more towards newer players having trouble with the character. For part 2 however, Darth Arma is focusing on more advanced tips and tricks for veterans who’re looking for that extra edge-up when dealing with Mikey.

Team UYU.gg signs Tekken World Tour champion, Qudans, to their roster

Competitive fighting game team UYU.gg continues to expand their player roster across multiple titles such as Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Tekken 7, and others; recently, UYU.gg announced on their Twitter page that they have now signed current Tekken World Tour champion, Qudans, to their roster. With this huge announcement, Qudans joins the likes of other notable Tekken 7 players such P. Ling, KawaiiFaceMiles, and Fergus as team representatives.

Team UYU.gg also mention that Qudans will be attending tournament stops for this year’s Tekken World Tour in Asia, North America, and Europe. Looks like will be seeing a lot more of the Devil Jin specialist in action for the rest of 2018!

FrameWhisperer explains the hatred for Tekken’s Eddy Gordo, and how to approach fighting him

There are few characters in the fighting game genre as polarizing as Tekken’s Eddy Gordo. His toolkit is comprised of several evasive stances and long strings; these moves are designed to knowledge check foes — and most of his foes, as it turns out, don’t have the knowledge necessary to beat him.

FrameWhisperer Tekken‘s latest video isn’t so much a tutorial as it is a study about what makes a character “typical” in the world of Tekken 7. Even though Eddy’s long been a source of complaints, as FrameWhisperer points out, players have difficulty articulating why they have trouble with the capoeira user. With a little work and effort, you can learn to understand why you’re losing to Eddy, and what you can do about it.

Socal_IronGod and Yohosie sign with Coalition Gaming

Last week, it was announced that both Socal_IronGod and Yohosie have signed with Coalition Gaming as members of their fighting game division. Formerly known as HARA, the organization looked to rebrand into Coalition Gaming last November “in pursuit of a more professional and serious look.” The team already includes the likes of GuamoKun, Rev0lver, Rewind, EMPR Phoenix, and Jessr.

Though at this time they are primarily known now as Dragon Ball FighterZ players, SoCal_IronGod (who will be representing the team at Anime Ascension later this month) is also known for stellar play in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, placing 17 at SCR in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, using the team of Thor and Rocket Raccoon. He’s also coming off the momentum of a 1st place finish at Wednesday Night Fights in DBFZ with the trio of Android 18, Cell, and Super Saiyan Vegeta.

Before recently making her name with Gotenks, Yohosie first rose to prominence in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax with her Kanji Tatsumi, placing 3rd at Final Round 19 and 5th at CEO 2015, and also placed 9th in the June 2017 NorCal Dogfight for Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2. Yohosie will be debuting for the team at NorCal Regionals. You can see the announcement tweets and comments from the new team members below.
