Jam Pro League VODs show off the strength of Brazil’s Street Fighter V scene

JAM Festival 2018 is a ranking event in Brazil for the Capcom Pro Tour. It will be the last chance for Latin American Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition players to score CPT points. Considering this is a country that’s responsible for strong players like Keoma, DidimoKOF, Brolynho, and more, you can expect that JAM Festival 2018 will be the grounds for many difficult, exciting battles.

For a glimpse into the Brazilian scene, Brazil tournament organizer Mwisk has graciously put together English post-match commentary of JAM Pro League #1‘s finals. This league is a monthly event for Brazilian players, and while you can catch it live (and in Portuguese) at their Twitch page, you can see the finals below — with Mwisk’s English commentary — right now with this playlist.

The PlayStation Store is running multiple sales promotions right now, and the FGC might be happy to know that there are more than a few fighters on sale. Red Bull is opening their next esports spot, Gaming Sphere, in London

Londoners will soon be able to enjoy their esports in the newest, hottest spot, courtesy of Red Bull. A new Gaming Sphere locale is set to open in London on March 21st, providing the largest public esports space to level up — and size up the competition.

Located in Shoreditch, London, the Gaming Sphere will have all the current generation consoles, PCs, and multiple virtual reality gaming stations. In addition, there will be Sim-Lab racing chassis, as well as Really Good Gaming Chairs. You can see examples of those below in a video with Hashtag Ryan, a pro FIFA player. He showcases the various stations in the locale, which include a “Red vs. Blue” 6 vs 6 PC section with spectator room.

Lucky Londoners will be able to participate in many scheduled events, which include Friday Night Brawls, workshops with pro esport players, and community tournaments. This is the second Gaming Sphere from Red Bull, as the company opened a similar venue in Tokyo, Japan, earlier this year.

Evo 2018 registration leaderboard: Dragon Ball FighterZ currently leads the pack

Will Dragon Ball FighterZ be the biggest event at Evo this year…?

Evo director Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar has given us a glimpse into the registration totals so far for the upcoming battle in Las Vegas: Evo 2018. While he’s keeping the exact registration numbers a mystery for now, he has revealed the overall standings… and currently, the title with the most competitors signed up isn’t Street Fighter V — it’s newcomer Dragon Ball FighterZ! The present registration standings are:

  1. Dragon Ball FighterZ
  2. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
  3. Tekken 7
  4. Super Smash Bros. Melee
  5. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
  6. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

Capcom announces new broadcast partners for the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour

There will be a few new ways for you to catch Capcom Pro Tour action this year.

Capcom revealed today that not only will you be able to watch the Capcom Pro Tour’s fierce Street Fighter V battles on the usual Twitch channel this year, but event footage will also be broadcast via two additional web platforms for 2018.

Along with Twitch, you will be able to catch it on the Capcom Fighters YouTube channel, and on the Capcom Fighters Facebook page as well. You’ll also be able to watch broadcasts on the official Capcom Pro Tour website.

The 2018 CPT circuit kicks off with its first Premier event, Final Round 2018, on March 16-18.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy — Yasuyuki Oda talks surprise characters, DLC plans, Garou sequel, and more in this new interview

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is definitely an interesting choice for SNK’s first non-King of Fighters fighting game in years. As such, many fans are bound to have more than a few questions about it; now, SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda answers some of these questions in a recent interview by Honey’s Anime, covering a lot of ground.

Some of it cover topics that Oda and other SNK staff have already talked about in other interviews. One of these — one of the most popular topics about the game, in fact — covers the game’s characters. Previously, Oda hinted that SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy would have characters not normally seen in King of Fighters games. In this new interview, Oda seems to reiterate that, stating that they “have some characters that will surprise people”.

Additionally, when asked about it, Oda also mentioned that  they are looking into possibly having DLC characters to expand the cast in the future. This, of course, will not be surprising to most fans, considering that SNK has been fairly generous with DLC characters for The King of Fighters XIV.

Now, while the rest of the questions in the interview are still mostly covering the same topics we’ve seen previous interviews, Honey’s Anime does bring up on important question: are they working on a sequel to Garou: Mark of the Wolves? To this, Oda gave the very vague answer of “I will continue to make them until the day I die.” Garou fans, take that as you will.

The Battle of Dragon Ball FighterZ Gods is on! Going back and forth over which one of them was superior (following respective tournament victories at Mix Up Night 37 and Winter Brawl 12), Echo Fox|Sonic Fox and Cyclops Osaka|GO1 will finally do battle at Final Round 20 this weekend.

The Final Round Twitter account officially announced that the two will face off in a FT10 exhibition this Friday, March 16th, at 6:00 PM ET (3:00 PM PT). The two men who are widely considered to be the top DBFZ players in the world today.

We’ve seen plenty of trash talk on stream and on Twitter, and both players are rocking some of the most powerful teams in the game: with GO1’s Gohan (Adult)/Cell/Vegeta (Super Saiyan) squad likely battling Fox’s Goku Black/Hit/Android 16 in what should be a battle for the ages — even at this early stage of the title’s life — between two of the strongest multi-game players going today.
