Learn how to punish common panic moves in Tekken 7

Panic buttons are a problem in any game. Tekken 7 is no exception, but many of these odd “panic buttons” can have odd recovery states you have to know about in order to punish properly, if you can at all.

It doesn’t help any that panic buttons come in a wide variety of forms in Tekken: from Feng’s B+1 speedy counter-hit fisher to Claudio’s superior hopkick, you need to be prepared for each character’s tool and the nuanced way to deal with them. Scallywag 93‘s latest tutorial video breaks down some of the most common panic buttons you’ll run into, and the proper response for when you recognize them.

Content creators beware: MTV India is blocking Tekken 7 content from YouTube [UPDATED]

Many content creators who have any sort of reach into Tekken 7 woke up to an unpleasant surprise Wednesday morning. They found that their recent uploads of the title had been removed from YouTube, based off of content claims from MTV India. One of the first public announcements was from Toronto Top Tiers’ NeoRussell, whose Monday Stun City weekly — which features Tekken, alongside Dragon Ball FighterZ and other games — was pulled in its entirety based off of the copyright claim.

NeoRussell wasn’t alone, as Twitter began exploding with mentions of Tekken 7 alongside MTV India, with reports of blocked content.

As discovered, it appears as though the television network — which, obviously, is the MTV affiliate in India — recently hosted a tournament for the game, and as a way to protect their own content put a copyright claim that has a broad overreach into any content created from the game.

It is unclear what will happen — but given the overreach of this claim, it’s obvious that at some point Bandai Namco will get involved. We will update this as we receive further word.

UPDATE: Reportedly, NeoRussell has already had some success contesting the block, and is urging other content creators to do so as well.

Fnatic return to the FGC by signing Shakz, Akainu and Brick for Street Fighter V

Ahead of the third season of the Gfinity Elite Series, various esports organizations are gathering up players to represent them in this televised esports event. Having spent a fair few years out of the FGC, UK based esports team Fnatic are returning to the world of Street Fighter by signing Shakil “Shakz” Ghazi, Christ “Akainu” Onema and Evan “Brick” Slabic to their roster.

Fnatic’s new team is a pan-European affair, with Shakz hailing from the UK, Akainu from France and Brick from Sweden. All three players are familiar faces to seasoned Gfinity Elite Series viewers, with Brick playing for Epsilon in Season 2, Shakz playing for Infused and Akainu playing for Prophecy.

These three will be representing Fnatic not only during the third Gfinity Elite Series, but through the whole of 2018’s Capcom Pro Tour. Gfinity Elite Series Season 3 will begin on March 9th, so expect more roster reveals as we get closer to the series opener.

World Warrior’s “Upgrade Your Arsenal” series shows off corner traps for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s Ken

A fundamental aspect of 2D fighting games is pinning your opponent in the corner and keeping them there as long as possible. There’s a lot of different ways to do that in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, but not many are as flashy or deceiving as Ken’s corner options.

Most of the good stuff in World Warrior FGC‘s latest Ken exploration comes from a crush counter in the corner. You can earn such a thing in a lot of ways, but for demonstration purposes, the lead-in setup here is off a throw. The real magic begins once the st.HK hits as a counter; check out the above video for some vicious side-switching resets.

Woolie breaks down control options, from beginner to advanced, in this video

If you are brand new to fighting games — and debating about whether or not to get a fightstick — there are numerous videos that break down this discussion recently. None, however, go into the detail that Woolie has in his most SCRUBGUIDES video — where he not only tells you to decide based on your preference, and whether you see a future in playing fighting games as a long-term hobby, but also goes further into the debate.

In his breakdown, he shows the options afforded to you by commercial manufacturers, and details what the overall best options are for you. He also goes over different stick parts and leaves no option uncovered, be it bulky American parts, standard Japanese parts, or the niche Korean parts.

Jump right into these new Ryu safe jump setups for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Ryu received a major boon to his setup potential in the Season 3 update for Street Fighter V: with the two-frame reduction in recovery on his EX fireball, Ryu now has a new opportunity for safe jump setups on opponents’ quick rise.

With an empty jump, Ryu can now beat out three frame reversals, and with a few normal jump-ins, you can beat out four and five-frame reversals. While you won’t be able to do immediate damage if they back rise, you can still apply pressure after their wake-up, as the spacing will make them second guess inputting a reversal.

The King of Fighters 2002 for PC is currently free on GOG.com

Here’s some great news for fans of both The King of Fighters, and free games. The King of Fighters 2002 is currently available for free on GOG as part of their Chinese New Year giveaway. Among the various King of Fighters titles, KOF2002 is considered to be one of the best iterations ever released. Certainly the best from the “Eolith Era,” when said developer took over development duties from a then-faltering SNK.

Take note that this is just the original The King of Fighters 2002 and not the updated KOF 2002: Ultimate Match, does not feature online play, and it reported to have controller mapping issues. That said, it’s still a great deal considering that it’s free — at least until GOG’s Chinese New Year giveaway ends.

Interested players can download The King of Fighters 2002 for PC for free here.
