Novriltataki discusses how reflecting and switching may affect the meta of Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite

With Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite less than three weeks away from its release date, people are digging deeper into the trenches of theory and trying to speculate on how the game will actually perform in the competitive landscape. One picture that’s been painted during the preview builds has been the belief that the Reality Stone — which causes a homing projectile to chase down your opponent — is the strongest one of the bunch of Infinity Stones.

Novriltataki however views the stone in a different light and believes that things will shape up differently to the point that Reality is rarely used. Given the fact that if you pushblock at a certain timing, you can reflect projectiles back at your opponent, it makes sense as to what the stone may be overrated at this point. He also talks about how tag switching could quite possibly make reflecting an even more dangerous game.

This will be your round with these Ed frame traps for Street Fighter V

Frame traps are essential to capitalize in damage with any character, and Ed’s light moves are prime buttons to create frame traps. As such, it is important to understand your frame data to know what to do to create a frame trap with him and exactly how you can capitalize from the counter hits you receive from it.

This guide gives you prime examples of follow-up buttons to create frame traps, and goes from the most basic punishes off of them to the most elaborate. Needless to say, Ed can get a lot of mileage off of one simple frame trap with his damage and mix-up potential, so be sure to toy around in the lab to see what you find.

Mitchel explains the complexity and insanity behind Weavile’s divekick for Pokkén Tournament

In Pokkén Tournament, few characters are more difficult to pin down then Weavile. This character has a gigantic list of options once he jumps, including:

  • A multi-directional air projectile that also serves as an air stall
  • Multiple jump trajectories
  • A divekick that leads to combos on hit and can go back into the air on block
  • Double jump cancels in Burst Mode

And this is just skimming the surface. Weavile is an overwhelming, slippery nightmare, and one of the reasons for that is the ambiguous landing properties of Weavile’s Jump X.

As Mitchel demonstrates, proper spacing and angles will allow tricky Weavile’s to mixup the opponent with divekick and empty-jump-grab. When you stop to consider that Weavile is not only getting buffs in Pokkén Tournament DX, but also access to a new double-jump granting support in the form of Popplio, this potent mixup will be even more terrifying then it currently is.

The Tick infiltrates Shadaloo with this PC mod for Street Fighter V

In the mid ’90s, comical super hero The Tick charmed his way into the heart of America with his unyielding passion for justice, clumsy hero antics and love for BLT sandwiches. Now, the harbinger of mighty blue justice comes to life in Street Fighter V with this PC mod by THEJAMK.

Ironically, the modded skin has been assigned to the Shadaloo boxer Balrog, whose life of crime and violence would certainly not be approved of by the true hero in blue. Since it’s unlikely that The Tick will make an appearance in Injustice 2 any time soon, this mod will have to do.

You can watch The Tick hop into action in the video below.

Learn to fight with more class with this Lee Chaolan combo breakdown for Tekken 7

In Tekken 7, there’s more to Lee Chaolan than just his good looks and classy taste in menswear. His fighting style that is just as refined, and movelist consists of clean hits and technical inputs that appeal to those who are fighting for the finer things in life.

In their latest Tekken 7 combo breakdown, Hurtbox TV, gives you a closer look at some of the fancy inputs that are required for doing adequate damage with Lee. For most of his bread-and-butter combos, Lee uses a lot of forward dashes, stance cancels, and moves that only work while in a crouching position, so you should definitely familiarize yourself with Tekken 7‘s core movement mechanics and Lee’s various stances when in training mode. You may also take note that Lee isn’t the hardest hitter in the Tekken roster, and that the huge wall carry potential is one of the trade-offs for his somewhat mild damage output.

Though he is the adopted son of Heihachi Mishima, Lee Chaolan isn’t as easy to master as one of the inheritors of the God Fist. Check out his combo video below, and if some of these inputs have you feeling lost, try checking out this Tekken 7 beginner guide.

ScrewAttack discusses the 10 most broken characters in fighting games

Broken is a word thrown around loosely within the FGC these days, but not always meant in the exact context of what it actually means. But when we talk about broken characters, we are literally talking about characters that are seriously unbeatable in all matchups, and these characters are the worst offenders.

ScrewAttack recently rated their 10 most broken characters in fighting games, and the list has some interesting ones. Did you know that Ibuki had a standing roundhouse infinite in the original Street Fighter III? How many people have heard of how bad Ivan Ooze is in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? Well, now you can hear about the most broken of the broken.

Get creative with Street Fighter V Juri combos: unleash the Spider’s Mark

Season 2 has been better for Juri overall, even if she’s not considered a very strong character yet. With a faster V-Skill and improved combos, she can be more competitive, but she is still held back by the charging mechanic. However, JusticeSoulTuna provides a refreshing combo video that might just change your mind.

The player combined a year of training and experimentation to produce this video titled The Spider’s Mark. It shows a variety of damaging combos, often utilizing the V-Trigger. There’s a very strong Dragon Punch punish against Ryu and a multitude of corner variations.

If you want to focus specifically on a certain aspect of the Street Fighter V character, JusticeSoulTuna also published a Juri V-Trigger guide video that takes a closer look.

Arcade Stick Indonesia announces release of modular Korean stick modification kit

Korean arcade levers have long been argued to be the best possible sticks to use for Tekken, with players of the game often hunting for Myoungshin and Taeyoung Fantas to help make their Electric Wind God Fists that much easier to pull off on arcade stick. One of the nagging issues with the style of stick is the difficulty to actually modify them as opposed to Japanese sticks, which have a wide variety of customization options available.

Wazwuz of Arcade Stick Indonesia is changing that and has announced the Golden Fanta modification kit. This kit will not only allow for performance modifications such as interchanging the Myoungshin and Taeyoung grommets for resistance, but also the ability to customize your lever cosmetically with standard ball and bat tops for Japanese-style sticks. This definitely makes Korean style sticks more appealing to the broader market of fighting game players. While this currently will only work with Myoungshin or Taeyoung Fantas, a Crown alternative is in the works.
