Qanba is releasing a Japan-exclusive Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 Obsidian arcade stick

Japan is no stranger to exclusive arcade stick releases; and now, Qanba is adding another to the list of arcade sticks available only in the Land of the Rising Sun. Qanba is set to release a limited edition Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 Obsidian arcade joystick for PlayStation 4 in Japan this month. This new edition of the Obsidian comes with all the great features of that stick (including Sanwa Denshi parts) paired with brand new Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2-themed panel art.

For anyone in Japan looking to pick this up, the Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 Obsidian arcade joystick for PlayStation 4 will be available starting from November 23 in Japan, and will retail for ¥24,800.

Miss X is now available for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

For the SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy faithful out there, here is some very important news: Miss X is now available for the game on PlayStation 4 and Switch.

Originally appearing in SNK Gals Fighters, Miss X started out simply as Iori cross-dressing as that game’s final boss. With SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy however, in addition to that version Miss X gets to be a new incarnation that’s actually a girl, in a similar gender-bending fashion to Terry Bogard and ARIKA guest fighter Skullomania. Interestingly enough, the gender flip isn’t what seems to bother Miss X the most in this game — rather, it’s the fact that one of the included costumes is that of a fangirl for their eternal rival, Kyo Kusanagi.

Alongside Miss X, SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy is receiving a patch to version 1.30. — whether this adds balance changes alongside the data for Miss X is currently unknown.

That Blasted Salami shows off Bob’s gains in Tekken 7 of Season 2

The transition from Tekken 6 to later Tekken entries certainly wasn’t kind to Bob, nor should it have been, given his overall dominance in that game. Because of this, though, there’s been a precipitous drop-off in Bob players, one of which a series of strong buffs in Season 2 hopes to rectify.

Damage buffs across the board — particularly on some key crouch dash options — and a uniquely strong set of wall bounce options make Bob’s combo damage more meaningful in the long run. Between this and a set of new roll options, perhaps Season 2 will bring Bob back to the forefront.

VesperArcade discusses how to make Zangief the “Red Cyclone” once again in Street Fighter V

The Red Cyclone became more like the Red Breeze in Season 3 of Street Fighter V. Zangief — once a formidable opponent for many in the game — proved to be far less strong since the patch, and with many of his most notorious players — Itabashi Zangief, and Brutus, and others — abandoning ship, you could tell there were problems in Mother Russia.

VesperArcade recently discussed the issues that caused the character to go downhill after his strongest version. Most notably, they decided that several of his nerfs need to be revoked, and named especially at his mid-kick parry move as something that needed to become more useful in Season 4.

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s sixth Saga event has banned unlicensed PlayStation controllers from use

Over the course of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour, we have seen people wield a plethora of controllers to compete, with many players using using Hit Box-type controllers for the game, too. However, one event has decided that Hit Boxes, among other controllers, are not going to be allowed.

The 6th saga event for the tour — to be held on the 24th and 25th of November in Shinjuku, Japan — has banned all peripherals that aren’t officially licensed by Sony from their event, stating that it is an addendum to the official tour rule set. While this hits Hit Box users hard, this also affects anyone who uses a custom arcade stick that contains a Brook PCB, or anyone using legacy arcade sticks with a Brook converter. It’s also possible that anyone who even uses an officially licensed pad as a padhack for their custom joysticks may get snubbed, as organizers may be unable to discern that the circuit board itself is licensed.

The event states that they will have a limited number of HORI peripherals available for loan to players who arrive to find their controller of choice banned from the event.

Best comeback yet in Street Fighter V? HiFight shares a closer look at Daigo Umehara’s epic round against Problem X at Red Bull Kumite

The round of Street Fighter V that shook Kumite to the core!

As an invitational for many of the absolute best Street Fighter V players in the game today, Red Bull Kumite 2018 was a near-constant highlight reel of impressive plays and clutch moments. One that stood out exceptionally was Daigo Umehara’s impressive comeback against Problem X in Losers Finals — it needs to be seen to be believed:

The mental fortitude of both players in incredible in this round, and the fact that Umehara’s comeback is not won with a built-in mechanic such as V-Trigger activation (or even a Critical Art), but is instead hard-fought inch by inch, is what makes it so noteworthy in this game of “robbery” comebacks. FGC clipper extraordinaire HiFight has shared a version that highlights some of the frame states and decision-making at work in this epic round:

Fighting EX Layer launches on PC on November 30, 2018

ARIKA’s excellent fighter finally arrives on Steam, a day after in arcades.

Hot on the heels of showing the game actually running on a PC, ARIKA has finally revealed when Fighting EX Layer arrives on the platform: November 30. ARIKA made the announcement alongside a new “VS Mode” video for the game. Additionally, they’ve also released a schedule detailing their plans for the game for the months of November and December. This also includes the release of the game in arcades in Japan on November 29, the day before it arrives on PC.

The schedule for Fighting EX Layer for these next couple of months is as follows.

  • November 14 (JST) – Add release notice on Steam
  • November 23 to 24 (JST) – Playable demo of the arcade version at ArcRevo
  • November 29 (JST) – Begin release of the arcade version (1.1.1)
  • November 30 (JST) – Release on Steam at 10:00 AM JST
  • November 30 (JST) – Release 1.1.1 update on PlayStation 4 (before 5:00 PM)
  • December 6 (JST) – Begin sales of physical release on PlayStation 4 in Japan
  • December 14 (JST) – Reveal 2019 schedule for Fighting EX Layer

On top of all this, Fighting EX Layer on PC will be subject to a 25% discount during the first week of release, bringing its price down to $29.99, from $39.99.
