Arc System Works will be releasing a patch later today for their cross-over 2v2 fighter BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. Ahead of that, they’ve revealed what’s in it… and if their notes are anything to go by, it’s not a lot. The patch addresses a few minor bugs:
SYSTEM MECHANIC CHANGES
・Fixed an issue where players were able to perform semi permanent combos during Cross Combo.
CHARACTER CHANGES
Aegis
・Fixed an issue where Aegis’ skill Megido Fire – Kai’s hit box did not function properly under certain situations.
Mitsuru
・Fixed an issue where Mitsuru Kirijo’s skill, “Bufula” did not disappear properly under certain situations.
ArcSys’s patch notes indicate that it is only for the PlayStation 4. If a Switch patch is planned, it has not currently been announced.

A new patch for Tekken 7 showed up overnight! Version 2.02 is not a massive game altering patch, but it provides a number of bug fixes and even a few quality of life perks for select characters. The full patch notes can be read here.
While many of the changes are cosmetic — perhaps the most amusing one belong to Anna, as they have corrected “her weird neck” in various moves — some of the notes contain important revisions. Gigas players, many of whom were torn over the Season 2 changes, will be pleased in particular: they’re getting their old DF+1 back!
While Ken and Incineroar may be the last new characters to be added to the roster by launch, Nintendo has already promised additional content for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and man, is the first DLC character going to catch fans off guard.
Piranha Plant is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an early adopter bonus. Anyone who purchases the title starting today and registers it before January 31, 2019, will be given the character free of charge sometime in February. The floral fighter hops around and attacks with its signature moves from throughout Super Mario Bros. history and is really something that has to been seen to be believed. The character will also receive his own amiibo which will go on sale on February 15, 2019.
After Piranha Plant, there will be five additional characters, each with their own stages and music tracks that will be added to the title by February 2020. The characters themselves have not been announced yet, but each pack will cost $5.99 individually or $24.99 through the Fighters Pass.
As food for thought, those who purchase the Fighters Pass get a Mii Swordfighter costume based on Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The reason Rex wasn’t included as a character for the game is that planning for DLC began before Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was announced. Keeping this in mind, this may mean most if not all of the characters set for DLC were already locked in well before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s announcement.
Additional fighters, stages, and music will be coming to Super #SmashBrosUltimate! Download them via individual paid sets at $5.99 each or purchase the Fighters Pass at $24.99 to receive all 5 sets as they’re released. All Fighters Pass content will be released by February 2020! pic.twitter.com/tx3C8HIvp8
And while we are talking about fighters, Street Fighter’s Guile and Virtua Fighter’s Akira will be included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as assist trophies! Both characters utilize their signature attacks from their respective franchises with Guile’s Flash Kick and Sonic Boom and Akira’s decisive strikes and dynamic poses. Funnily enough, Zero Suit Samus looks pretty similar to Virtua Fighter’s Sarah Bryant in screenshot found below!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases on Nintendo Switch on December 7 with a total of 74 playable characters and over 100 stages and more info to come!
Two ultimate fighters enter the Super Smash Bros. ring
The final two characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate were announced during this morning’s Nintendo Direct, bringing the total number of characters to 74.
Ken is the Echo Fighter for Ryu, as he is similarly in the Street Fighter franchise. His heavy Shoryuken is encased in flames, as it is in his original series, his Hadouken is shaped differently with unique attributes, and he can utilize his own focus attacks. This version of Ken is based on his Street Fighter II Turbo iteration but has tweaks from more recent titles. Ken also has two Final Smash attacks that are activated depending on the player’s distance from his opponent. He’s faster than Ryu, and like his Shoto rival, you can activate unique attacks by implementing certain inputs.

Incineroar, the fully evolved starter Pokémon from the Pokémon Sun and Moon titles, is the last character to be added to the main roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. With special moves like Darkest Lariat, Cross Chop, and Revenge along with his Final Smash, Max Malicious Moonsault, this wrestling feline is ready to throw down against the best and bravest Smash players. It will take perfect timing to master the Heel Pokémon, since, like a professional wrestler, Incineroar poses after each successful attack. These poses can be canceled into other attacks or motions, so keep your brains and brawn in sync.

There’s plenty more information coming from the Nintendo Direct so stay tuned for everything there is to know about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before its release on December 7!
The truth will be revealed in due time, but until then, consider the following…
As of late, there has been a lot of talk regarding the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster thanks to a number of leaks and rumors supposedly revealing its entire cast. Now, a known leaker has made statements contradicting some of these supposed leaks.
Over on the GameFAQs message boards, Vergeben has stated that the most recent round of leaks, known as the “Grinch leak” (due images of a folder containing promotional materials for the upcoming Grinch movie appearing alongside said leak) are false, based on their own sources. The specific bit of information they refute is that Isaac, from the Gameboy Advance RPG Golden Sun, will be a playable character in Smash Ultimate. Instead, according to their sources, Isaac will simply be an Assist Trophy.
Vergeben has shared a number of proposed leaks in the past that were later confirmed throughout the years, including reveals of certain games. This refuting of the “Grinch leak” gains more traction by the fact that Vergeben made these statements in support of Emily Rogers, another well-known insider and leaker in the Nintendo community – one who leaked the existence of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in fact.
This all being said, Nintendo will release their final Nintendo Direct focused on Super Smash Bros. Ultimatetomorrow morning at 7 a.m. PT, which will likely put all of these rumors to rest.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases on December 7 on Nintendo Switch with the special edition console launching this Friday with a download code set to unlock on the game’s release.

The King of Fighters series is not an easy one to get into: tricky combos and tight footsies, while adding a lot of quality to high level play, can scare off many from burning to fight. Though, despite the game’s intimidating nature, there’s plenty of players out there who love it… such as Persona. Check out their video for Nelson — the 52nd in their KOFXIV series
Persona is responsible for a ludicrous amount of the combo videos on YouTube, having made a video for every single character of The King of Fighters XIII, and having almost done the same for The King of Fighters XIV. We’ve covered plenty of Persona’s works here at SRK, and after years of consistent content, it seems as though they’ll never stop. Persona has noted on Twitter that they hope to be done with KOFXIV’s roster before 2019, so only time may tell what will come next on their agenda.
SoulCalibur VI marches on! The combo potential and ease-of-play has kept content streaming in to the SRK tipline, so here’s the latest work from the community:
Let’s start out with a primer for Zasalamel, who returns to SC with a wildly new and unique toolkit. This primer was made by the heads of the Zas Discord, so you know it’s good!
It’s easy to be overwhelmed when learning Voldo for the first time. Here’s some basic combos to help you crawl your way towards mastery:
Groh is everything a new, entry level character should be: versatile, complete, and exciting to watch.
People aren’t used to fighting a good version of Seong Mina in the Calibur series, and these Lethal Hits are a large part of why that’s the case.
Final Showdown’s combo creativity extends beyond the 2D realm: check out the damage and wild possibilities he’s come up with for Kilik!
Thanks to everyone that submitted content to us! If you have some SCVI tech you’d like to share with the world, reach out to us through our tipline.
As good as they are, one of the quirks of Bandai Namco’s fighting games is their lack of in-game frame data. This of course, also applies to their latest release, SoulCalibur VI.
Now, for competitive players on PC, there’s a solution to your frame data needs. Scuffle over on the r/SoulCalibur subreddit has made an overlay that adds frame data overtop the game on the PC.
The program, which you can check out over on GitHub, is based on the code for Tekken Bot Prime for Tekken 7. Take note that it only works with the game in windowed or borderless windowed mode, and not full screen.
