Celebrate King of Fighters XIV Coming to Evo 2017 with This Community Combo Video Roundup

The announcement of King of Fighters XIV’s inclusion on the Evo lineup was very well met. The King of Fighters series has a storied history with Evo, and it’s nice seeing the series making its welcome return with KOFXIV. To celebrate, let’s look at some of recent KOF community content.

First up we have a neat Terry Safe Jump compilation, featuring a lot of regular situations he might find himself in that he can keep himself safe while keeping up the pressure.

Next up is a combo video centered around utilizing one specific Iori super, with some pretty funky looking combo extensions from it.

We also have a seductively devastating corner combo from Luong and while it does cost five bars, it seems like it’s worth the resources.

Our last video for the day is for one of the most underutilized characters in the roster, Verse. He’s awkward and hard to understand, but thanks to the efforts of dedicated fans he’s building up some very useful tech. Here is a list of many option selects and Okizeme setups he can use to his advantage.

Skarmand Gives A Tutorial on Skullgirls 2nd Encore’s Double Jump and Air Dash “Refresh” Mechanic

Skullgirls is a game that takes great care in learning from bugs and oddities in past games and adapting them in a cohesive way. One such bug was found in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, in which characters who used their air options only regained those air options upon jumping again. You can hear Mike Z explaining everything about this and other bugs in MvC2 here, but the one we’re looking at today is the air option mechanic.

Skullgirls player Skarmand, who recently made a video tutorial on how to perform a Double Jump Instant Overhead, is at it again with a video discussing the aforementioned air option mechanics. He explains the mechanic as well as how to best use the knowledge of other players not having access to their air options.

Enjoy the Classic King of Fighters Titles? 8Sin-Am Visits Many Past Titles with This Flashy CMV

SNK has a long history of fighting games, with The King of Fighters being the feature series today. This particular franchise has included a great number of titles and iterations over the years, a history to be proud of for sure. A great deal of time and effort was put into each of these games, which is nice to see remembered even to this day.

One lover of old school King of Fighters, YouTuber 8Sin-Am put together this CMV a few years back featuring a good selection of the KOF library. This combo movie is older than some of the early 2000 stuff, but it still has that artistic anime movie vibe to it. If that’s your thing, enjoy!

LiangHUBBB Starts the Year Off with Funny & Cool Moments Episode 98

After taking some time off for the holidays, LinagHUBBB is back with his first 2017 edition of the Funny & Cool Moments series: episode 98. Featuring a mix of current and classic titles, including Street Fighter V, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, The King of Fighters XIV, Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, among others.

Some of the more interesting moments include a pair of Vegas scoring a Double KO with their Critical Arts hitting at the same time, Tracer and Sombra taking their battles from Overwatch into the ring of Street Fighter V, King hitting a Home Run with one of Akuma’s Gohadoukens, a combo into the recently removed Ramon LP Dash Cancel Infinite, and Sagat being frozen in mid-air when trying to punish Vega’s Ultra II. Ibuki and Urien show off some crazy V-Trigger corner sequences, Guile’s hair seems to explode after a victory, Urien fully air parries Yun’s Genei Jin, and an Akuma player relentlessly taunts a Guile with multiple shimmies.

Towards the end we also witness the craziest Abel sequence I’ve ever seen in Ultra Street Fighter IV, as well as Echo Fox’s Justin Wong inciting a real-life rage quit in Street Fighter Alpha 2 at 2 Old 2 Furious with Rose’s Soul Illusion, against BOTB EMP Hiro! Be warned that these clips do have some NSFW language; if you haven’t seen his best of 2016 video, catch it here.

Catch a Claw to the Face with These MAO Matches in Super Street Fighter II Turbo

It’s no secret that Claw (Vega) is one of the strongest characters in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. His wall dive is difficult to block, and he has great normal moves that can lock down shotos in the corner–if done properly.

Japanese player MAO is one of the best at doing what’s most broken with the character. Well-known for his win at the 2012 Tournament of Legends at Evolution, he is still bouncing off the walls today. Here are a few of his most recent matches, showing off how dangerous he is with the character.

Enjoy Skullgirls Matches? Check Out This Skullgirls 2nd Encore Community Kumite

The tradition of holding a community-run Kumite–a series of sets one after another, against one particular player–exists as a means to test endurance and adaptability. In fighting games, a Kumite can improve your ability to adapt rapidly, while also testing matchup knowledge and mental fortitude. The tradition of Kumite matches has become popular in the Skullgirls scene, promoting one player as they are tried through a gauntlet of sets.

Today we have one such Kumite, hosted by KPB|McPeanuts, featuring the Canadian Squigly/Big Band player Yaya. The sets take place online, with commentary from both McPeanuts and Yaya. and features a lot of strong play from various characters, for over three hours. It’s worth a watch–but mind the slight NSFW language!

McPeanuts has several other Kumite sets up on his YouTube channel, so be sure to check out his playlists for similar compilations.

Itazan Looks to Prove the Strength of Muscle Power against Mago in This Street Fighter V FT3

We’re a little over a month into Street Fighter V Season Two, and one of the characters making a bit of a stir is Zangief. Largely regarded as potentially the worst character in the game last season, the Red Cyclone has seen improvements to his Lariat, as well as improved okizeme following his SPDs. Detonation Gaming’s Itazan, one of Japan’s strongest ‘Gief players, looks to put these improvements to the test against Mago’s powerful Karin in this FT3 Set, brought to us by XusesGB. See the Power of Japanese Engineering with These New Kilgore Combos for Killer Instinct

With his recent trip to the land of the Rising Sun to compete in Kombo Klash Japan, Ultra Arcade’s Bass was able to take a trip into the lab with some Japanese combo wizards to see what they have been cooking up for various characters. As Kilgore is the latest addition to Killer Instinct–and a character ripe for new tech discoveries–the Japanese KI community has been hard at work seeing what this prototype robot soldier has under the hood.

Bass got the chance to play with Japanese lab monster and Evo 2015 finalist Domi, who has been hard at work with Kilgore to try and maximize his potential. In order to spread this information to the general Killer Instinct community, Bass has recreated some of Domi’s combos and tech for other Kilgore players to experiment with. These combos mainly utilize both Kilgore’s OTG potential off of Light Gun Barrage, with the raw power of his Instinct mode.
