Wolverine-Master Displays New Infinites in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

As if Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 needed more infinites, Wolverine-Master proves that there are still some more to be found. In his latest batch of videos, he displays infinites from the likes of Viewtiful Joe, Strider Hiryu, and Arthur. The Strider infinite was previously displayed in his impractical combo video, but was previously reported as merely a wall-carry instead of a true infinite.

As with all other discovered true infinites, these require Team Aerial Combo tags in order to set up.

Empoleon is Coming to Pokkén Tournament Arcade on December 15th

Rejoice Pokkén fans, this armored emperor penguin is finally coming to battle. Announced by the official Pokken Twitter account today, Empoleon is on their way to Pokkén Tournament Arcade, acting as the last of the currently known DLC characters for this Pokémon themed fighter.

Previously discovered through fans datamining the Wii U version of Pokkén, they discovered initially what they thought was three new fighters; Scizor, Darkrai and Empoleon. In actual fact, it was four fighters, with Croagunk getting upgraded from assist to fully playable character earlier in November, causing many to panic that the Steel and Water starter Pokemon from Sinnoh was not actually going to make it.

Fans can now rest easy, as Empoleon will be joining the arcade roster on the 15th of December. It is not known at this time if these DLC fighters will make it to the Wii U version of Pokkén, but seeing as the Nintendo Switch is on the way, it is likely that Pokkén will get an updated rerelease with all the new characters included while the Wii U version is updated via DLC.

Expect an Empoleon trailer and various community breakdowns of this character very soon.

Capcom Pro Tour Player Analysis: Will Mister Crimson Rain Red All Over the Event?

Editor’s note: The views expressed in this article are solely those of the writer, and do not reflect Shoryuken.com as a whole.

Natan “Mister Crimson” Massol has been sort of a complex player this season. Hailing from France, he managed to close out his season by getting in via the Global Leaderboard, and he has ran a unique mix of characters in Street Fighter V to make his mark.

With his run this year, will he be able to make the field see red?

Mixed Martial Arts

Out of the players in the tournament, he has the most unique blend of characters I’ve seen. Playing Dhalsim, we have see him live by the Yogi’s opening statement of “I’m not very fond of conflict.” He plays a much more defensive and reactive game, far less dependent on the teleport mixups seen from other Dhalsim players such as Save or PG|Filipino Champ. This allows him to focus on frustrating opponents by forcing tons of mistakes in their approach, as he is one of the best at this reactive game with the character. As it takes a lot of focus and experience to understand the way to shut down approaches with Dhalsim’s unique ranges and angles of attacks, this shows a considerable amount of attention and understanding of Dhalsim.

When he is not pushing players out, he is doing his best to keep players right in front of him with Laura. He is completely able to change the gear as necessary to switch between the two characters’ gameplans at the drop of a hat–and makes it work.

Multiple Wins

Whereas a player such as Ryan Hart has won only a single local event, Massol doesn’t fit in this category. Having won Cannes Winter Clash and one of the European Online Ranking Events, Mister Crimson has proven himself a winner.

While these are the only two events listed that he has won, they are two more than one of the greatest European players of all time. It is not necessarily going to catapult him to the top of everyone’s brackets, but it does stand for something, as far as his stock is concerned.

Exclusivity

Yet again–like most of Europe–he has remained a hermit this season. He is probably the most exclusive European making his way to Capcom Cup this year, having not yet made it to any event in North America or Asia all season. This is a crippling issue for him: whereas everyone else in Europe has had moderate international experience, he has had very little–only equivalent to whichever North American or Asian players made their way to Europe’s majors. Like a number of Europe’s players, when he has played against Asian players, he has faltered. It is an eventuality that he has not prepared for.

Double-Edged Characters

With his Dhalsim, the same issues as Filipino Champ apply to him. Eventually the top players will crack through his impregnable defensive game. He will eventually have to switch up and begin mixing up his play. Is he ready for this, or will he switch to Laura at the first sign of defensive trouble?

If he does, he may find an even harder uphill battle. Laura is not a respected character in the game this season–she seems to be regarded as a poor man’s R. Mika. Whatever Laura does, Mika does better. Whatever pressure Massol puts on has to be smart, as any mistakes made will be far more unsafe than most characters have to worry about.

Final Thoughts

Given who he’s playing, it’s a toss-up to see who wins. It’s going to be a tough road for Mister Crimson no matter what. He could easily go 0-2 or 1-2, as I feel that he instead will be the one seeing red.

Make the Most of Hard Knockdowns with These Meaty Setups for Alex in Street Fighter V

Don’t sleep on the Sleeping Lion.

Like many grappler-type characters, Alex can turn around a match fast with the amount of damage he can dish out in Street Fighter V. In their second video looking at the meaty setups Alex has to work with, NurseLee explores how to capitilize on hard knockdowns.

If Alex can land a Crush Counter sweep, he’s set to follow-up with powerful setups–and his V-Skill, Overhaul–which gives Alex’s next attack counter-hit properties–is well-suited to creating your own “Hard Hits” to make this happen on your terms. Check out five meaty setups that take advantage of this in the video below.

Learn to Play Ryo in The King of Fighters XIV with This Extensive Beginner’s Guide

More often than not, players coming in to The King of Fighters XIV from games such as Street Fighter will gravitate towards Ryo Sakazaki. He sports a familiar and comfortable design that directly apes that of Street Fighter’s “shoto” characters, Ryu and Ken. That said, newcomers will find that they won’t get too far playing Ryo as they would the former.

For those looking to properly learn to play Ryo, Gillstolemyride has put up this extensive beginner’s guide to the character. The tutorial–which you can watch below–covers a good amount of material that players will need to be successful with Ryo. Take note however, that the video is quite long, so be sure to set aside some time for this one!

Sako, Go1 and AiAi Bump Heads in These FT2 Ranked Sets for Street Fighter V

It’s kung-fu versus taekwondo as AiAi faces up against two of Japan’s best Chun-Li players, HORI|Sako and HM|Go1 in these intense FT2 Street Fighter V Ranked sets. Sako and GO1 bring their unique Chuns out to play, making for some interesting clashes with AiAi–and since Juri is not exactly a top tier character, the way AiAi holds his own against Sako’s and GO1’s Chun-Lis is impressive to say the least.

Whether you main Chun-Li or Juri, there is much that can be absorbed by watching these three matches.

There Are Over 120 Hard Rock and Metal References in the Guilty Gear Series

Most Guilty Gear fans are aware that the game contains many references to hard rock and metal music, presented in various aspects throughout the series. This is due to Guilty Gear’s creator Daisuke Ishiwatari’s love and extensive knowledge of the genres, particularly of bands from Europe and North America. This fusion of music and fighting game culture is one of the many things that makes the Guilty Gear series unique.

In an impressive accumulation of details and history, HurtboxTV pinpoints over 120 instances where a particular band, artist, album or song is paid homage in Guilty Gear. Though names like Slash, Slayer, and Axl might stand out to any average music fan, it would take an amateur music historian to have caught all of these.

How many hard rock and metal references can you name in Guilty Gear? Check out HurtboxTV’s video and see if he got them all.
