Rests, Dunks and Style Galore in This Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Team Montage from DMG Alliance

Rather than focusing on a single player on their roster, DMG Alliance has brought its combined might together in this third installment of its “Tons of DMG” combo series. This montage shows combos from players like Tweek, Ryuga, LordMix, 6WX, Sodrek and many more, in the typical flashy style present in most DMG combo videos.

There is a little bit of everything in this teamtage, from footstool into Rest combos from Jigglypuff, unconventional edgeguards from characters like Dr. Mario, and the occasional zero-to-death. Beware of ending up in a combo video like this, should you ever have the luck to play one of DMG’s members in a tournament.

Catch Zangief in Action As Snake Eyez in This Trailer for fatihG_’s Street Fighter V Mod

Some time back, we reported on modder fatihG_’s attempt to mod Red Bull’s Daryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis into Street Fighter V as Zangief. Now, fatihG_ has released an update on the mod in the form of a hype trailer.

Last time out, we only saw some screenshots of the mod. This time however, we have our first glimpse of footage of it in game. Alongside this, we also get to see how much the model has progressed since, with it looking much smoother, with artifacts from Zangief’s old model now gone, and with some additional detail work added as well.

No release date for the mod has been given as of yet, though fatihG_ says that it will be coming out soon. If Snake Eyez could record some special voice lines for this mod, it would make the package complete.

Justin Baisden of Fight for the 6ix Talks the Trials of Tournament Organizing in Episode Two of Inside the Champ

Sometimes called the godfather of the Toronto FGC and tournament organizer for events like the T-Series and more recently, Fight for the 6ix as part of the Red Bull Proving Grounds series, Justin “Nagata Lock II” Baisden is quite the figure when it comes to running FGC events in Canada. Sitting down with Drekken “Drekksama” Pownz as part of his “Inside the Champ” interview series, the two talk about the path to becoming a TO, how to run a successful tournament and balancing playing for fun with putting on a successful event.

One of the points Justin touches on during the course of the interview is the real lack of organizers when compared to the abundance of people playing fighting games. While there may be loads of people playing a game in one region, it really does someone to marshal all of those players into a cohesive scene, so that people can come together as a group to run events rather than acting simply as an amorphous mass that rarely interacts with each other.

If you’re someone looking to get into tournament organizing or just want to hear how one of the best goes about running events, give the whole interview a listen.

Xuses Steps Out of the Shadows to Take on Valmaster in This First to 5 Online Street Fighter V Set

With him putting up so much Street Fighter V content nearly daily, it is rare that we see footage of XusesGB playing. However, when he puts up footage of his own play, he delivers.

In this replay, he shows off his Ken against former Capcom Cup qualifier Valmaster’s Chun-Li in a first-to-five. The resultant match is a down-to-the-wire battle of reactions and reads. Both players make a lot of adjustments over the course of the match, and show off some serious high-level play.

Capcom Pro Tour Player Analysis: Will K-Brad’s Stock Spike?

Editor’s note: The views expressed in this article are solely those of the writer, and do not reflect Shoryuken.com as a whole.

Kenneth “K-Brad” Bradley of Evil Geniuses has had a solid year to date, despite a rocky initial relationship with Street Fighter V. This is without question one of the strongest years in his career. His Cammy is looking good, and he is continually improving.

With his entry into Capcom Cup being due to Misterio’s sudden withdrawal, will he be able to be the Rocky Balboa of the finale and shock the world?

Killer Bee

If there’s one thing to note about K-Brad’s Cammy, it’s how utterly aggressive it is. As opposed to Qanba Douyu|Xiaohai and GGP|Kazunoko who play a more balanced, reactionary-style play at times, what you’re likely to see from K-Brad is keeping the noose tightened on his opponents, and then pulling on the rope.

He was one of the first to address how Cammy has become less mix-up-dependent in this iteration of Street Fighter, and he has adjusted his play to compensate. While his play is far more straightforward, his basic gameplan of just smothering his opponents hasn’t changed. It has worked to his advantage more often than not.

Changing Gears

But that style of play can also be to his detriment. Once players start playing more patiently against him, K-Brad, much like HM|Eita, gets himself into trouble. He continues pushing, and he ends up hanging himself.

He’s very comfortable on offense. He isn’t as comfortable on defense. He’s always had the most success in games where it has paid to be an aggressor. He played Marvel, then played Cammy in the SFIV series, both of which requires absolute aggression to stay on top.

This isn’t working in this new game, and he hasn’t fully realized the defensive side of his game. Once he rounds himself out and becomes more at ease playing the reactionary game, his results will improve.

When it Counts

Because of these issues, K-Brad has faltered in some of the biggest events on the circuit. In some of the most stacked brackets, he hasn’t even finished within Top 16. He wasn’t able to breach top 32 at either Japan Cup or EGX. He finished 25 at Brooklyn Beatdown. These were tournaments where killers showed up, and he just wasn’t able to prove his mettle against them.

While he’s been doing performing well at events such as SoCal Regionals and Canada Cup, the tale of the tape show him losing to Liquid|NuckleDu and YouDeal MJS|Haitani at the former and OR|Nuki and NuckleDu at the latter. Losing to someone as strong as NuckleDu may seem a petty complaint, but it reflects that K-Brad isn’t showing the progression he needs to hang around at Anaheim without losing.

Final Thoughts

K-Brad is still in the midst of a learning curve. His Cammy’s offense is on point. His Cammy’s defense is not there yet. He’s still not on the level of the true killers that are going to be at Capcom Cup.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take a match off an unsuspecting victim, but would lean more toward 0-2 at the event. This will be a learning experience for Bradley, and I hope he soaks it all in and makes his adjustments for next season. Don’t underestimate him this time around though, because if everything goes to plan, he can certainly blow some top competitors away.

Is the Future of Super Smash Bros. Melee Playing with a Computer Mouse? Heeew Finds Out in This Netplay Montage

For eons, Melee players have tried to find the ultimate controller. It started with carving notches into the ridge around the control stick for perfect shield drops. It then progressed to the Smash Box and its ability to make advanced movement tech a breeze to input. Now, Heeew may have discovered the true future of playing Melee; using the humble computer mouse.

If you haven’t quite caught on yet, trying to play Melee with your computer mouse is an awful idea. Heeew previously tried to play with a keyboard and that was difficult enough, so imagine how hard it is just to recover by dragging your mouse around to move. While dashdancing becomes super easy, even basic actions like up-tilting and angling your Up-B correctly become nigh-on impossible. It may not be the future of Melee input methods, but it certainly makes for a humorous video. Don’t expect a wave of players bringing the Mario Paint mouse to tournament any time soon.

The King of Fighters XIV Receives Netplay Tweaks in Recent Patch Version 1.05

After the massive gameplay patch that dropped last month, version 1.04, the next fix SNK is aiming for has to do with online netplay rather than balance adjustments. They’ve added more ranks to ranked play, made some quality-of-life improvments to matchmaking, and overall improved the experience.

In addition to netplay improvements, boss characters Antanov and Verse are unlocked from the beginning, without having to clear story mode to unlock, which is nice for people who just want to jump in and play.

There are a few other notes to be aware of, including a couple character bug fixes, so be sure to give the patch notes a once over. The patch is live right now, so be sure to update your game.
