Mikadok showcases itemless solo combos for Skullomania in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy just recently added a second guest character (as well as its second gender-bent one) in the form of Skullomania. For those wondering what he — or rather, she — can do in this game, Mikadok has released a combo video for her.

The combo system in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy does allow for a fair bit of creativity, despite the game’s simplified nature. Some of the things it allows, such as an air dash after certain moves, definitely lets Skullomania pull off some impressive-looking things. A couple of things that Mikadok doesn’t use in this video however are items and tag-ins – yes, all the combos here are done purely by Skullomania, without the help of others to extend them.

For anyone interested in learning how to pull off the combos in the video above, you can check out the notation for them, alongside other important information on playing the game, here.

“Hit-Box” modified Qanba Obsidian controllers and parts now available from Arcade Shock

If you think more buttons means more control, Arcade Shock has a new option for you.

For players that like the features the high-quality Qanba Obsidian arcade stick offers — such as its unobtrusive secondary controls, PS4 touch pad, LED features and aluminum exterior, not to mention its notable size and heft — Arcade Shock is now offering a control alternative for those that also enjoy the Hit Box Arcade all-button control scheme.

The SRK Rollback: Best of October 5-11, 2018

Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from October 5 to October 11, 2018!

Upcoming Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition update will improve the speed of the game’s inputs

From the players’ perspective less input latency is always a good thing, so hopefully Capcom delivers on this promise. You can also check out VesperArcade’s thoughts on how it will affect the game as well.

The TOLIII lineup just keeps improving. This will be an impressive display of Super Turbo prowess.

More datamining from X-Kira hints at additional upcoming costumes, Dojo items, and more for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

X-Kira/Miyuki-Chan again is laying out predictions for upcoming SFV goodies based on the game’s code; the finds are piling up, so if these are accurate we should start seeing some of them soon. They also claim more costume Easter eggs are on the way.

Echo Fox parts ways with Tekken legends JDCR and Saint

Following on the heels of news that Punk, Scar, and Theo were leaving the team, now this… it’s looking like Echo Fox is letting most, if ultimately not all, of its FGC talent go. We’ll have to see who is left standing, if anyone — could SonicFox or Tokido be next?

Everything surrounding this closure, from the end of an era to the fallout of players associated with the arcade, has been incredibly sad to watch from afar.

Not everyday you get to share a combo video for Thrill Kill. Who knows how gaming might have changed if this thing actually saw the light of day.

NeoGamer looks at behind-the-scenes footage of Mortal Kombat 4

As horrendous as Mortal Kombat 4 was (don’t @ me, etc. — actually, wait, no, do @ me… getting an essay on Mortal Kombat 4 from its sole defender sounds hilarious) I really enjoy these behind-the-scenes looks into Midway’s — at the time — unique processes.

This might sound silly, but this is my favorite Lei move, conceptually. I love the fact it’s +9000 on block but leaves you in this weird sorta-back-turned state.

Wake up with these flashy combos for The King of Fighters XIV’s Meitenkun from Persona Entertainment

The King of Fighters XIV‘s Meitenkun’s entire shtick might be that he’s sleepy (coincidentally, putting him in company with a strange archtype along with Tekken 7‘s Eliza and Guilty Gear Xrd‘s Bedman), his combos are anything but. Persona Entertainment‘s latest combo might feature largely impractical work, but individual moments — EX mid-screen loops, wall carry, etc — are not only worth learning, but genuinely entertaining to watch.

If you enjoyed these meticulous Meitenkun combos, this is apart of a larger series covering the entire cast. You can click here to see more work like this from Persona Entertainment.

Echo Fox parts ways with Tekken legends JDCR and Saint

Just a few days ago the 2D FGC was rocked when Punk, Theo, and Scar were all simultaneously dropped from famed esports organization Echo Fox. Shortly thereafter, Echo Fox put out an official statement on the releases and it seemed, for a moment, that was the end of the story.

Today, the bleeding resumes: It’s now the 3D FGC’s turn to be baffled by Echo Fox’s decision. This time, it’s Korean Tekken legends — and Evo Champions — JDCR and Saint that have parted ways with the company.

JDCR and SAINT showed no signs of fatigue in a tournament scene for a game in its peak, so the layoffs are surprising, to say the least. Whatever organization scores either of these players is poised to corner Tekken — particularly if they can sign them both. As far as EchoFox’s future in the FGC — and the future of the few players left on staff — remains uncertain.

Join the Manji Clan with Hayate EIN’s Yoshimitsu primer for SoulCalibur VI

If you come from the Tekken series, you would probably never associate Yoshimitsu with solid fundamentals and versatile, practical strength. Get ready for culture shock: this has been the Yoshimitsu experience in high-level Calibur play for years thanks to his standard setting speed and incredibly strong and basic 50/50s. Not only does this hold true still in SoulCalibur VI, the fact he now builds meter faster than most characters in the game with his new “Soul Steal” mechanic makes him capable of bullying the opponent event more.

This doesn’t mean he is without stylish gimmicks, however. As Hayate EIN demonstrates in his latest breakdown video, his new Dragon Flight options and okizeme give him more than enough ways to confuse and frustrate opponents, particularly in Soul Charge. This is an excellent character to start SCVI with, and learn how a Calibur game is played.

VesperArcade offers thoughts on the impact of input lag reduction coming to Street Fighter V

What does reduced input lag mean for SFV players?

Capcom offered some unexpected (but not unwelcome) news earlier this week, with a promise on Twitter that October 23 would see a patch coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition to further reduce input latency. This possibly may be related to the lag reduction that Tekken 7 enjoyed thanks to updates to Unreal Engine 4, the shared foundation to both titles.

In this new video, VesperArcade and Mir continue to chat about what they want to see in Street Fighter V — and in this case, they discuss what impact further lag reduction will have on the game. With some speculation as to why we’re seeing this fix suddenly offered up (could it be related to the new arcade version…?), they then go over how reduced input lag changes how the game is played. Maybe we’ll actually be able to walk-and-block!
